Another Day at the Office

07/03/2012

I woke up at 9:00AM and had a tuna salad sandwich for breakfast and took my medications.  I then got dressed and headed outside.  I saw that the garbage men had come and decided I needed to take in the garbage cans.  I stacked them up and carried them up the driveway.  However, the simplest things of picking up garbage cans and carrying them 50-75 feet can alert you that something is wrong.  Usually I have no issues bringing in the cans, but I can feel myself exerting extra effort carrying the cans up the driveway.  It is the little things that remind you that something is wrong.  I then get in my van and head to the office stopping at the bank first to deposit additional payroll withholding taxes.  I arrived at the office and caught up on some more administrative task and ran the invoicing for the previous days work.  I received a call from Dr. Brinz’s office the oncologist, and they said that my PET scan was scheduled for 8:00 Monday morning.  They said that the office visit was still on schedule for 9:45 Friday evening, but since Wednesday was the July 4th, holiday, the PET scan could not be scheduled any earlier, if there were any cancellations this week, then I will take their appointment.  During this conversation my wife google talked me saying that the doctor’s office had called the house and that she gave them my office number to reach me at.  Google Talk, another powerful IM tool reaching across both the cell phones and computers.  I then went into the back office and cleared off a table that had a number of shipping boxes on it.  I stacked the boxes for my wife to go through later and then to be put out to the trash.  I then checked the bank accounts and created the rent check for this month’s rent for Hands Free Help Technologies, and I brought it upstairs to the Building Management Office.  I came back to my office and changed a few settings on the phone service that I had setup yesterday, and called and checked about that.  The client wasn’t in, so I sent two test faxes and saw them show up on the web interface, so the client was now setup properly as far as the phone number designations, just have to wait to the adapter other adapter comes in to finish up those details on Thursday.  My accountant for end of the year taxes called me up following up with 1099’s and W-9’s for 2011.  I will also be stopping by her office on Thursdsay to sign those forms that she had created.  The lawyer from yesterday called me back and we squared away a few things with the phone service, and I made sure he was getting all of his notifications via email from the phone service as well, which he was.  Another client then called me up who has been wanting to meet with me for an hour or two to see how my schedule was this evening.  I told him that I would be available for about an hour and a half to two hours and if he wanted to come over we could attempt to complete the work that he wanted to get done.  He got there at 5:00 PM, and we started to work on what he needed done.  We found out that somethings were not setup right and I corrected a few things that would let him continue working on the project on his own for now.  It was about 6:30 PM when I left and it was storming outside.  My sister called me on the way home and wanted to know if I was going to her house in Prarieville for July 4th.  I told her that I would go, just I didn’t want any red meat, I would take turkey burgers and chicken.  My wife has to work tomorrow from 11-6, so we will be at my sister’s between 12:30 and 5:30PM.  When I got home, my sister had cooked some broccoli and cheese and some chicken jambalaya.  Again food is good!  Yummy!

I then got a phone call from my ear nose and throat doctor which can be read about here.

BIOPSY RESULTS: NODULAR SCLEROSIS HODGKIN’S LYMPHOMA

After the news, I went and researched some of the treatments for Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and found a blog of someone who had actually included everything from getting a port placed in his chest for the chemotherapy, to a live blog of the process of his chemotherapy days.  He got into some details, but I it was a good basis for something that I want to do myself.  I am planning on having my laptop with me during my therapy’s and entering in information as it happens for others to read, but also for future chemotherapy patients to help them get a better understanding of what to expect during the treatments.

I then went and watched my Franklin and Bash Program on TV and fell asleep here and there while watching it, I was just tired.

A nice strawberry, blueberry, and banana smoothie which my mom had made was next on my list of yummy things today as its high in antioxidants which is what I have been trying to get a lot of lately.

I then made my wife some kraft mac and cheese since she was hungry 🙂

I then updated this post and added my biopsy results post.  Now it is time for me to go get a warm bath to relax me and then on the lazy-boy for some rest.  I can’t wait to get these stitches out and able to lay in bed again.  I know I am being over cautious about not sleeping in bed with the stitches, but I would rather be safe than sorry.  I’ll be happy once I can lay next to my wife again in bed on one side, and Buster on the other.  Ok, Ok, so maybe Buster is the real reason I am not laying in bed yet with the stitches.  Sometimes he can scratch at night and I don’t want any of his claws catching one of my stitches, which I am sure would make a very painful awakening.

Goodnight!
