Chemo Day #11: ~~~~ 1 More to Go

12/10/2012:

Happy Birthday Jamie!

8:00: I wake up, the usual, let Buster out.

8:10: I jump in the shower.

8:20: I jump out the shower.

8:30: I put on my lidocaine cream on top of my port area so that I won’t feel the needle go in when they access the port.  I put a peace of saran wrap over the cream to keep it from getting on my shirt and to allow most of it to absorb into my skin.  I also pop the Ativan to calm me, and zone me out, not worrying about needles…

8:45: My mom and I are heading out the door.

9:00: We get to the Hospital, the Yenni Treatment Center to be more exact.  I go upstairs and check in and wait in the waiting room.

9:15: Still waiting.

9:30: They come and take my blood pressure and temperature.  Everything is fine!

9:45: Still waiting.

10:00: I am called to the other room, they send me to Bed 2, which is where I had my first chemo treatment at.

10:15: My laptop is setup, and everything is ready to go for me to get some work done.  I take care of some business admin stuff such as paying bills, taxes etc.

10:30: The nurse comes and accesses my port.  She can push saline into me, but she can’t get a blood return.  She tries a few syringes of pushing saline, and then when that doesn’t work, she asks me to walk around some.  I walk down the hall and back.  She then tries again and she is able to get blood return back this time.  Blood return is so important, because they want to make sure that they are pumping directly into a vein because if they can’t get blood back and they are pumping into tissue, the chemicals that they are about to administer to me can kill the tissue and even eat through my skin, so they need to make positively sure that the port is still in the vein by getting a blood return.

11:00: The hook up my saline bag, and start pumping my premeds Zofran and Decadron first…

11:20: My Zofran is done pumping, they hook up my Emend and pump that into me…

11:45:  BLAH, it’s time for the Adriamycin.  I get a nauseous feeling just thinking about the red stuff.  I don’t look at the bag or the line, I don’t want to see it!  The nurse brings me two popsicles to suck on.  This helps minimize the flavor in my mouth if not block it completely.

12:15: They flush my line with some saline drip.

12:25: My Bleomucin is hooked up to the pump, and they start pumping that into me.  At least that red stuff is done…

1:00: They  flush my line with some more saline.

1:10: The nurse comes in with the big syringe.  She hooks it up to my IV and pushes my Vinblastine by hand, nice and slow…

1:20: She is done with the syringe and then flushes me some more with saline.

1:25: Dacarbazine, the last of the 4 drugs is hooked up and started to be pumped into my system.

2:00: I am done with the final drug.  The nurse let’s the saline flush the system.

2:10: The nurse takes my blood pressure and temperature.

2:20: The nurse pushes a syringe of some heparin into my port as usual to keep it from clotting and to keep it ready for the next use.

2:25: The needle/IV is pulled out and I a bandaid put on.

2:30: I stop by the bathroom by the elevators as always to get rid of some fluids from all that chemo pumped into my system.

2:35: My mom and I are walking out of the place.  I am done.  I am tired, I am going to go home and crash!!!

2:50: We get home.

3:00: I lay in my bed and I am out!!! ZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZz

8:00: I wake up, I get out of bed, I gotta go to the bathroom again and get rid of some fluids.  I grab some drink, and then I go back in my room and turn on TV and just watch the TV.

8:45: I am feeling tired again.  I doze off watching TV.

11:30: I wake up drink some more liquids, and then watch some more TV to I doze right back off.

11:59: Another chemo day over with, ZzZzZz, I am sleeping it off…

Chemo Day #10 + 13

12/09/2012:

10:45: I am awaken by my wife getting ready for work again.

11:00: I get up and let Buster out.

11:30: My dad asks me to help him setup the stable he has constructed out of our old wooden swing that was rittled with holes from carpenter bees and just not in shape to be used as a swing anymore.  I go outside and help him move the wood to the front yard.  We then drill the wood to attach the back frame to the front frame which he has already built.  It is still a little shaky, so we had two angled supports which takes care of the shaky problem.  We then add wood to the roof as a frame, and then we go cut down some of the palm tree that is overhanging the fence in the back yard.  We put these palm pieces on top of the stable and I screw down the main limbs that cut.  The limbs are very hard and are just like wood for the most part.  One screw in each holds it in place.  There should be a storm tomorrow, so we will see just how well those screws hold.  We then add the sheep, bull, and donkey to the stable.

3:00: All done.  We head inside.

3:15: We turn on the TV for the game.

3:35: The Saints vs the New York Giants…. Gametime…

6:45: The Saints lost, oh well the season is over for them…

7:00: I jump in the shower.

7:15: I jump out the shower.

7:30: I lay in bed and get on my laptop.  I am just going to take it easy today.  I research the wireless project for the wireless network to the three warehouses by feeding the two warehouses wirelessly from the warehouse that has the network connection.

9:00: I doze off.

11:15: I wake back up. I put my laptop up, and just turn over and get comfortable and watch TV.  I got chemo tomorrow so may as well take the rest of today easy…

11:59: Another day gone.  Tomorrow is chemo #11, blah…

Chemo Day #10 + 12

12/08/2012:

10:45: I am awaken by my wife getting ready for work.

11:00: I get up and let Buster out.

11:15: I help my dad put out three of the blow up Christmas characters in the front yard.

1:30: We are done with the blow up characters.  My mom is getting home at the same time from Sams.  She purchased the cookie cake for Jamie’s party for tonight while she was there.

2:00: I jump in the shower.

2:15: I jump out the shower.

2:30: I am in my van heading over to my office.  I have a shirt to embroider.  I fell asleep installing updates on the computer last night since it was a new build 2 years ago that had to be updated with windows updates since then.  I then take out a test shirt that I have and set it up with the cloth backing for the embroidery.  I use the autopunch software to change the new Handy’s we have for Hands Free Help into a new design.  I also add the words to the graphic.  I havn’t used this software in over a year or two, so I have to familiarize myself with it again.

4:30: I start embroidering the design on the shirt with the sewing machine.

4:57: The design is done.  I take the shirt off the machine and it looks pretty good.

5:15: I am in my van.

5:30: I am back home.  I am just waiting for my wife to get home now so that we can head to Chalmette for my business partner and best friend, Jamie’s birthday party.

6:30: My wife gets home.  She quickly changes and freshens up and we are on our way out.

6:45: We get on the road.

7:15: We get to the bar where the party is at.  I put the cookie cake with the rest of the food to be eaten later, and grab a few finger sandwiches and a slice of pizza.  I introduce my wife to everyone, and we sit and talk.  Jamie and few guys are shooting rounds of pool, throwing darts, and just hanging out and having a good time.

10:30: Most of the party heads on out.  We are just hanging out listening to the video DJ/Karoake that is going on.

11:10: We decide its time to switch bars and head out.

11:15: We get to the second bar.

11:20: My wife and I head inside, but this second bar is a lot more smoky that the first bar, and with my Chemo on Monday and just my overall recovery process it would be best that I don’t stick around here.  My wife and I say our goodbyes, and then back to the car we go.

11:28: We are in the car, and we hit the road.

11:58: We get home from Chalmette and head inside to rest…

11:59: Another day done!

Chemo Day #10 + 11

12/07/2012:

10:00: I am up 🙂  Yep, gotta let Buster out!

10:20: In the shower I go.

10:35: Out the shower I come.

11:00: I get in my van and head to my office.

11:15: At my office.

11:19: I get an email from Brian seeing if I want a ride to Jamie’s party Saturday night.  I reply to Brian that I may be staying late and therefore he may want to drive himself there and let me drive myself there, that way he can leave before me, because I will stick it out as long as I can…

2:00: I get an email from the client who I installed the two new computers for.  They are wondering if I can copy a program from the laptop to the computer.  I tell them that they must first install the program on the new computer, and then I would be able to copy the program over if needbe, I can’t just copy the files over as that will not install the program.

2:15: I piece together a PC with a Motherboard that has been sitting around the office that has some potential.  I order a processor off of eBay and some RAM for the computer too.  I just need to wait for the parts to come in to finish that build.

3:00: I start working on a computer I brought to the shop last week.  It keeps giving me blue screens of death’s constantly.  I even remove the hard drive from the computer, put it in another computer and scan it.  I find a number of issues on it, but when I put the hard drive back in the computer I still get the blue screens.  Even disabling and repair things nothing fixes the blue screens of death I am getting.

4:00: I get an email from the client who’s computer I am working on with the blue screens of deaths.  I reply to the client that I am working on it.

6:24: I get an email asking if any employee photos came in today, and I reply back that we didn’t get any photos at all.

7:02: My business partner calls me and we talk while he is driving back into town.

8:30: I finally get off the phone and get ready to head on home.

8:47: I am in my van.

9:05: I get home.

9:15: I make me some turkey and ham sandwiches.  I haven’t had poboys in such a long time.

10:00: I lay in bed and yep you guessed it, back on my laptop.

11:59: Another day gone…

Chemo Day #10 + 10

12/06/2012:

Well to start the day off… Today is my wife’s and I Three Year Wedding Anniversary 🙂  3 Years!

10:00: I am up.  I let Buster out and get on my computer to check a few things.

10:30: I jump in the shower.

10:45: I jump out the shower.

11:00: I get in my van and head over to get my blood work done for my Chemo on Monday.  2 more chemos left!

11:15: I sign in.

11:30: I am waiting…

11:40: They take me in the back, swipe my ID and check my insurance, stick me and fill up two tubes of blood, tape me up, and send me on my way.

11:50: I am back in my van.  Time to head to the satellite office to do the software update.

12:05: I took the I-10 to the Airport access road, and the airport access road is all backed up because they are doing construction to change up the view and outlay for the upcoming Superbowl in February.  Instead of taking my usual route of getting on Airline Drive, I drive through the airport instead because the traffic is flowing comparing to the line backing up waiting for that redlight.

12:15: I get to the satellite office.  I start working on one of the front 3 computers.

12:30: I start working on the second front desk computer.  Simple thing of downloading and updating the software.

12:50: I start working on the third front desk computer.

1:10: I start on a sales person’s computer.

1:25: I find a computer that will not boot.  It just beeps when I hit the power button.  I take off the side cover and unseat the ram and reseat the ram and the computer boots up just fine.  I install the update on that computer.

1:50: I start on the third sale’s person’s computer.

2:15: I start on the final sale’s person’s computer.

2:30: I start on the manager’s laptop.

2:45: I walk outside with the manager to overview where they would like to have wireless in three wareshouses and how to get the wireless to those warehouses since there is no communications going to two of the three warehouses.

3:05: I start on the warehouse computer software upgrade.

3:15: I am done with the software upgrade.  I head back to my van and head out.

3:45: I swing by McDonalds and pick me up 2 McDoubles.

4:00: I am back at my office.

4:05: I remote into the computer that I worked on yesterday.  They are having issues using the fabric cutter.  I copy the program from their old computer to their new computer.  The had installed it, but there was some database issues, so by copying the whole program folder, this resolved the database issues.  They were then able to cut fabric.

4:35: I start working on documenting everything I did today and yesterday.

6:30: I start packing up.

7:00: I head on out, just late enough not to worry about the rush hour traffic.

7:15: I get home.

7:30: I get on my computer at home and research a few ip security solutions.

7:50: I grab a quick bite to eat.

8:00: I am laying in my bed, on my laptop, researching more ip security solutions.

11:00: Still putting together the security solutions, but I am tired of looking at the computer.  Time to put it up and just watch some TV.

11:59: Another day gone…

Chemo Day #10 + 9

12/05/2012:

8:37: I get an email from a client who can’t remote into another computer.

9:15: I am up and out of bed.

9:30: I let Buster out, and get on my computer.

9:50: I let Buster back in, and head to get my shower.

10:00: I jump in the shower.

10:15: I jump out the shower.

10:30: I get in my van and head over to my office,

10:45: I am at my office.  I pack up a computer and 2 monitors that I have to install at a client’s office.

11:15: I head out over to the client’s office to install the computer, along with another computer that I brought over the other day.

11:30: I get to the office, and realized that I forgot a wireless PCI card, so I turn around and head back to my office,

11:50: I get back to my office, and get the PCI card.

11:55: I head back out to the client’s office.

12:15: I get to the client’s office.  I open the computer that I brought over previously and install the PCI wireless card.  I setup one of the monitors I brought with me.  I then boot up the computer, and install a few recent updates.  I also install a fabric cutting machine’s drivers.  The manufacturer didn’t have it listed on their site, so I had to search for the drivers.  After I am done installing the drivers for the cutter, I setup the second computer.  They do not have enough outlets, so we search for a surge protector.  They do not have any surge protectors, so I search for a power strip.  I find an extra power strip in the server closet.   I setup the power strip, and plug the other items into the power strip and also plug the computer into the power strip.  I setup the monitor for the second computer, and then boot it up.  They are going to take care of transferring all of their software from their old laptops to the new computers.  I go into the other room and evaluate a video that they are having issues transferring.  The quality of the video they are receiving is low, so when they reduce the quality further for it to fit on a CD, they are loosing too much quality and the video is becoming grainy.  They will have to try redoing the video again with a higher quality or burning a DVD instead.  I am done here for today.

3:15: I get in my van and head back to the office.

3:40: I get back to my office.  I work on cleaning up the office a little.  Moving some computers for recycling, and others to be cleaned up.

4:30: I do some administrative work and catching up on some additional billing.

7:00: I head on out and in my van heading home.

7:15: I am home.  I grab a bite to eat, and then lay in bed reviewing the update I have to do tomorrow and checking on a few things.

7:30: I doze off….

9:45: I am awake.  I take care of a few other things on the computer.

11:15: I am done with the computer for tonight.  Just watching some TV.

11:59: Another day gone…

10:00: I jump in the shower.

10:15: I jump out the shower.

10:35: I get to the office.

10:53: I get an email for a client who is thanking me for helping getting their new computer online and installing Carbonite to restore all the pictures and data they had on their old computer when the hard drive crashed.  He is thinking of fixing the old laptop for his granddaughter and was wondering what I thought about his old laptop.  I told him in a reply that if he wasn’t going to do anything with the laptop, I would repair it for myself and keep it.

11:06: I get an email from a client that I do sub work for, and they are ready to do another update at their local office in Kenner.  I will just have to go there and update all the computer with a software update for their VMware clients to remote into their remote servers in Colorado.

11:30: A client stops by who would like her resume printed up.  I have repaired her computer and she just needs to get her resume off of the computer and printed up.  She will come back later in the week and pick up the computer when she can pay the remainder of the balance.  After I print up the resumes, she gives me 1/3 of the total due, and I will see her later this week.

12:15: I return to my computer and start working on Monthly Statements and some admin work.

3:00: I clear up some questions with a client who is shutting down their office and looking to sell all their equipment.  I see what equipment, I will need to help them sell, and what equipment is already sold.

3:15: I take care of some more administrative work.

4:47: I get an email back from the client who is shutting down and put into motion the details outlined in the previous emails.

7:00: I pack up and head out the office.

7:05: I am in my van heading home.

7:15: I am home.

7:25: I sit down and eat.

7:45: I get an email from a client and call them back to tell them that the email will not help them with their pictures they are looking to burn onto CD because the email only contains low resolution pictures.  They will have to contact the person who took the pictures and get the higher resolution pictures to burn a CD with if they want pictures that are of a higher quality.

8:15: I am laying in bed on my laptop, remoting into a few computers and checking on things.

10:45: I am getting a little tired, but not completely yet.  I put up my laptop and watch TV.

11:59: Another day gone…

11:57: I get to the restaurant and go to work.

12:05: Just walking upstairs I notice a funny musky odor this time.

3:45: I head on out over to the EJGH to get my bloodwork done.

3:55: I start getting a chest pain when I am making the turn into EJGH.  It is very uncomfortable.  More like pressure in my chest.  I park my van and walk inside and take the elevator up to the second floor and sign in.  I then sit down.  My chest is still hurting It hurts with breathing.  It is not a throbbing pain, just an ache, but very uncomfortable.  I shift around in my chair a few times and try to get comfortable.

4:40: The uncomfortable feeling has gone away just as quick as it came on.

5:45: No one was at the location I was working at earlier, I figured they wouldn’t be since it was a Friday, but I thought I would pass by anyways.

Chemo Day #9 + 10 – Happy Thanksgiving!

11/22/2012:

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!

3:13:  A client send a text message to my office phone line.  Well since the office phone lines ring my house as well, including my bedside, it wakes me up.  I listen to the message and it is just to say Happy Thanksgiving.  What a wakeup call.  I get comfortable again and fall back asleep.

9:15: I wake up and get out of bed.  I know we have 3 turkey’s to cook, one for my Uncle Jack and 2 for us.  My dad already has my Uncle Jack’s turkey in the Big Easy.  It’s just like frying a turkey without the oil, but some people will never understand the concept.  The way the Big Easy cooks them it gives the skin the same appearance as that of a fried turkey that is droped in oil and fried.

11:20: We use this item called the turkey cannon.  We fill it up with a cup of Chardonnay and put it on the BBQ pit.

11:40: The turkey that is in the Big Easy is done.  We take it out and take a few pictures of it ->.  There is this turkey to the right in all three pictures.  We then wrap it up and put it in an ice chest and ship it over to my Uncle Jack.

11:50: We prepare the next turkey to put in the Big Easy.

12:05: We put the turkey in the Big Easy and fire it up.

1:30: The turkey in the Big Easy is done.  My dad takes it out, takes it inside and starts carving.

2:00: The turkey on the Pit is done.  We just leave this one outside on the table to cool off.

2:20: Everyone is now serving themselves, and I need to go fix my plate, I’ll update ya’ll after I eat 🙂

3:30: We are done eating.  I go outside and throw the ball with buster.  He brings a ball back and drops it at my feet with no problem.  A Frisbee is a different story, he likes chewing the Frisbee, so playing ball it is…

4:30: Buster and I head back inside.  Time for some desert  I eat a piece of apple and pumpkin pie.

5:00: I sit in the chair and watch the games that are on.

6:30: I start dozing off…

7:00: I get up and go lay down in bed.

9:00: I wake up.  I check a few things on my computer in the living room.

11:00: Back to bed for me, I go lay in bed and pull out my laptop again.

11:59: Another day done with.  I had plenty of food!  Yumm yumm!

Chemo Day #9 + 9

10:00: I am up.  I do a few things from home as I have a doctor’s appointment for 1:00.

11:00: I take care of a number of things remotely.

12:30: My mom and I head on over to the doctor’s office.

1:00: After parking where people can’t park right, the parking garage, we walk inside.

1:10: We are shown right into a patient room.  The doc checks me out and prescribes me some Ambien CR sleeping pills to help me try to get back to a normal sleeping pattern on the weeks that I don’t have chemo, maybe, I hope…

1:20: My mom and I switch spots, she also has an appointment to follow up with him from her Thyroidectomy she had in April.

1:30: We head on out.  We both pay our CoPays and then out the door.

1:40: We are back at the car.  Now we are headed down town for my mom to drop me off at Canal St & Carondelete St, also known as Canal St & Bourbon St.  I am downtown to look at a property that friend of mine is interested in purchasing and I will have a hand in helping them run and manage it.  They need a major undertaking with IT from the ground up, everything is going to be top notched IT in the new place, so Hands Free Help Technologies will play a very large role in getting this place going 100%.

1:50: I walk the 6 blocks and find the group of people who are going to be looking at the property all part of group who will be working together on this.

2:10: We are allowed inside.  We check out the second floor first, then up to the third, then down to the first.  I see a lot of potential on the location and outlay of this property.

3:30: We walk down the street to a Bar and my friend puts a Bid in on the property.

5:00: We go walk around Bourbon and stop in at a Bar.  I don’t drink and can’t drink, so I am the designated driver for the evening.

7:00: We head on out.

8:00: We get back to my friends house in Chalmette after dropping off a ride that came in with them.  We talk over everything that we saw today and ideas and projections and hopes, we just need to see if the bid goes through.  I also take care of his computers and set up his email while we are at the house.

10:15: Jamie and I head on out from our friend’s house.  Jamie is heading back to Thibodaux and is going to drop me off in Metairie on his way through.

11:00: I get dropped off at the house.

11:05: I am headed out to unlock my wife’s car since she locked her car keys in her car!

11:15: I get to the Starbucks my wife is at and unlock her car for her.

11:20: I am headed back home.

11:30: I am back home.

11:59: I am going to sleep, long day, plenty of food tomorrow.  Time to relax!

Chemo Day #9 + 8

11/20/2012:

10:00: I wake up, and I am up, no falling back asleep for me today…  I get out of bed, and let Buster out.

10:15: I jump in the shower.

10:30: I jump out of the shower.

11:15: I head on over to the office.

11:30: I get to the office, and go to work checking on shipments that I am waiting to come in.

12:00: I go online and refile for the reseller certificate for another 3 years.

12:30: I order a few additional items requested by a client.

1:00: I remote into a clients computer and take care of a few pop up issues they are having, one being a false FBI warning saying that they have to go to Walmart, purchase a money card and then send them the money card info to get the thing off of their laptop.

2:00: Still working on the other computer and doing a few other things.

3:00: I finish up the computer.

4:00: I get a call from my dad, he and my Uncle Frank are going to be bringing home a new fridge and they need my hand truck that I have in my van.  They will call me when they are heading over to Sears to get it.

6:00: I get the call that they are heading to pick it up.  I finish up what I am working on and then head on out.

6:10: I am in my van.  WOW great, there is an accident right around the corner from my office that has all 4 lanes of Causeway blocked.  I take a few back streets and then am able to get to the other side going the opposite way.  Well going the opposite way, it is blocked down to 1 lane because of the fire truck and other emergency personnel parked to work on the wreck on the opposite side the median.

6:35: I get home and they have the fridge at the back of the truck.  I get the hand truck out and barely help them get the fridge to the ground.  They then roll it around to the back of the house and take off the packaging.

6:50: We plug it in and it starts up.

7:00: My dad heads out with my Uncle Frank to my cousins house.

7:10: I grab a bite to eat.

10:30: My dad and I head out and on our way home.

10:45: I get home, and actually a little tired, I should sleep good tonight.

11:00: I lay in bed and pull out my computer.

11:59: Sleep time.  I am exhausted and already dozing in and out and can barely look at the screen for the past hour.

12:35: I put together everything for the restaurant and head on over.

12:45: I get to the restaurant.  First thing I do is deliver the toner for their color printer.  I then come back in and go over a few things with them for installation.  Also they are having issues downloading things from iTunes on their new tablet.  I try to register an account and have issues with Apple registering the new account.  I then get on the computer and after a few tries I have everything done the way they need it.  I will be back on Friday when a few more items come in.

2:45: I head out and back to my office.

Chemo Day #9 + 5

11/17/2012:

2:15: I go across the hall and pick up the packages that were delivered over there.  One of the packages was a handheld scanner in for scanning documents instead of saving them to scan in the other room on the bigger scanner, I can now scan them right here at my space limited desk.

2:35: I scan the few checks that I have to deposit.

2:45: I walk the 2 blocks down the street to the bank and make the deposit.

2:55: I walk the 2 blocks back to my office.

3:05: I get back to the office and get everything together. I am just going to bring home all the shredded paper and boxes and throw out for the recycling rather than going down to the dumpster which I don’t want to touch.

5:30: I make a few trips across the hallway and dismantle half a cubicle.  They are shutting down at the end of the year and everything must go, and I have a use for the cubicles in the new year, so I just need to dismantle them and take them.  It takes me a while to figure out how to dismantle it, but once I figure it out, I am ready to go to come back later and take apart more.

8:00: I am heading home!

8:10: I get home.

9:30: I jump on the computer and do some gaming!

11:59: Still gaming, yep, Call of Duty 2.
