Chemo Day #9 + 3

11/15/2012:

12:30: My wife gets me a Phenegan.  I am in and out of it all night.

2:20: I finally wake up.  I get out of bed and let Buster out.

2:30: I take a Zofran because I am still feeling a little nauseated.

3:30: My mom is going to order pizza.  I don’t want to eat any red sauce, so I have my mom order one pizza, no red sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and mushrooms, and the other no red sauce, cheese and mushrooms.

4:05: My mom drops off the Pizza’s and her and my dad are heading to the Dentist.  I eat a few slices and then get ready to go to my office to check on a few things.

4:25: Buster and I head on over to the office.

4:35: We get to the office.  I leave Buster in the car, it is nice and cool/chilly outside, so he will be fine, I go upstairs, and get the box of cable that I promised I would drop off at the restaurant across the parking lot so that Scott could run the cable needed for their new reservation system can be installed.  The run has to go through the attic and is too small for me to crawl and I am in no shape to be crawling the attic at this time.

4:50: I get Buster on my way back into the office and bring him upstairs with me.

5:00: I run payroll, pay bills, and take care of a few minor things around the office.  I am feeling a little nauseated, good thing I am not walking around and just sitting.

5:55: Buster and I head out.

6:05: In the CRV driving home.

6:15: I get home.  My wife can’t start her car.  I put Buster inside and then pull up next to her car and put the jumper cables on.  She is able to start it up as soon as the cables are connected.

6:25: I put the CRV in front of my Van.  I have to let it sit for about 20 minutes before I am able to start it up, my battery was completely dead because of my radio.

6:45: My van starts up.  I take the cables off, and my dad moves the CRV back into the driveway.  I sit in the van, turn on the internal lights, and take out the radio.  I accidentally pull off the indicator light for the alarm, and I get 2 wire nuts and put the wires back together so that the alarm indicator light will work again.

7:30: I am back inside.  I lay on the sofa and watch NCIS.  I take a Zofran as I am still feeling a little nauseated.

11:00: I get up and check a few things, but I am going to go to bed.  I take another Zofran and my antibiotics.  I let Buster out and then back in and I head to bed.

11:20: I am just laying in bed, catching up my blog.

11:59: Bed time…..

7:50: I am laying back in bed, but now my stomach is growling…

8:30: I can’t fall asleep with my stomach still growling.  I get up, and I eat some of the chicken fettuccine.

9:15: I am done eating.  Now I feel a little nauseated, great I can’t win…  I take a Zofran.  I lay on the sofa and watch the History Channel with Hitler and WWII.  One of my favorite things to watch.

10:45: My wife gets up and checks on me, I tell her I am feeling a little nauseated.  She is off to get her shower.

11:40: My wife attempts to leaves for school.  She calls me because her car won’t start.  My van is dead as well because my radio is draining my battery.  I go across the street and knock on the neighbors door for him to jump her car.  This is the second time in 2 weeks that he has to jump one of our cars.

11:50: Her car starts up, and she is off on her way to school .I am still feeling nauseated and just laying on the sofa.

12:30: I take a Phenegan and continue watching the History Channel.  I doze off for a little bit.

3:30: I move to my room and get on my computer and do some programming.

5:30: My mom comes home with some fried chicken and a hamburger poboy.  I can’t eat the fried chicken because the fried and greasy side of it is just going to make me sick.  I eat the hamburger poboy.

6:15: I sit in the lazy-boy and watch NCIS.

7:00: I am feeling a little nauseated so I take a Phenegan.

7:45: I am out, the Phenegan knocked me out.

10:30: I wake up, my neck is hurting me from the way I fell asleep in the Lazy Boy.

11:00: I am laying in my bed, watching TV, dozing in and out.

11:59: Still Dozing in and out of it.

2:50: I get back on my computer and send out Invoices that I ran the other day, but just didn’t send out.

4:00: I check on a client’s home wireless that was having some issues, however their nephew has figured out the issue and fixed it.

6:00: I eat some chicken fettuccine pasta that my mom made when she came home.  I am still a little nauseated, so bland is good!

7:30: I check a few more things on my computer, and send out a few more emails, but I have had it for the night, I am going to go lay down in bed and take a Phenergan, I don’t feel all that great.

8:15: I am in bed watching TV, and relaxing, feeling a little nauseated.

11:00: I am awake.  I let Buster out.  My dad is home today, it’s a holiday for him, and it’s Veterans Day.  Thanks to all those who are serving and have served our country.

11:45: I jump in the shower.

12:00: I jump out the shower.

12:10: I follow up with a phone call from a client, it has to be quick, I have chemo for 1.

12:35: I get off the phone, I will follow up more with the people in Denver, CO on the issues they are having, but they are about to upgrade their exchange server and some other things, so I will stop working on this until the servers have been upgraded.

12:45: I put on my Lidocane Cream on my port, so that I don’t feel the needle when they push it into my port.

12:50: My dad and I leave for the Yenni Center at EJGH.

1:00: We get there, head upstairs, and I check in, and we sit down.

1:05: I make a call to my oncologist to check to see if my dosage of Chemo has to go up since I have gained some weight since I have started.  Sure enough, they want to ad 10% volume of chemicals to my chemo, but that will start next time.

1:10: I am sitting back in the waiting room with my dad.

1:20: The nurse comes and takes my temperature and my blood pressure.

1:35: The buzzer goes off letting me know to head to the outpatient infusion room.  I go across the hall, put my buzzer in the basket and wait to be seated in one of the Lazy Boys.  The nurse sits me in Chair 5.

1:50: The nurse accesses my port and start pumping the saline drip in.

2:05: The nurse comes back with the bag of  Zofran and the Decadron hangs it and starts pumping that into me.

2:30: The nurse brings my bag of emend and starts pumping that into me.

2:50: Here comes the bag of the nasty red stuff, blah, Adriamycin, I could do without it, but my body needs it so suffer I must.  I ask for a Popsicle, anything but RED!  She brings me some orange.

3:15: The Adriamycin finishes up.

3:25: They flush my line with more saline drip.

3:35:  She then hooks up the next drug Bleomucin.

4:00: That drug is done being pumped in, they flush my line with additional saline.

4:15: Another nurse comes in and pushes my Vinblastine out of the syringe.

4:25: She is done this push and let’s the saline flush the line for a little bit.

4:30: My next and final drug, Dacarbazine is hooked up and they start pushing that into me.

4:55: That final drug is done being pushed.  They flush out my line a little bit with the saline.

5:00: She takes off my patch that is holding the needle into my port, and then pulls the needle out.  Thank goodness I don’t feel a thing.

5:10: We walk out of the room, as always I stop for my bathroom break by the elevator before heading out to the car.  I gotta flush some of all those bags of liquids they just pumped into me.

5:15: Back in the elevator and downstairs we head.  This is the latest I have ever left the Yenni Treatment Center.  It is a bit chilly, but not that bad, as we walk to the Accord.

5:30: We get home.

5:45: I eat some Chinese soup.

6:30: I lay in bed and fall asleep.

10:30: I wake up, use the bathroom, and go lay back down in bed.  My legs feel heavy, and I am tired and weak.

10:45: I pull out my laptop briefly, but don’t stay on it too long.

11:15: The laptop is back on the nightstand, just watching TV.

11:59: ZzZzZz.  I am out of it again…  Another chemo done with.

2:00: The food is great.  YUMMY!

3:15: The game is over 🙂  Saints Won…

10:12: I get a phone call from a client, it barely wakes me up, and I just doze back off without answering it.

10:47: I get another call from another client, it barely wakes me up, and I just doe back off.

11:30: I wake up, I check my message, one client’s laptop will not boot, the other client’s is just returning his list of missed calls, and we had already talked the day before.

12:00: I warm up some Boudin Sausage.

1:00: I return my client’s phone call.  I give him the options of replacing the hard drive or purchasing a new laptop.  He decided that he wants to purchase a new laptop.  I tell him I will go to Dell’s website last today and email him a Dell cart that he can check out using his iPad.

1:30: I reply to a client’s email who is having issues remoting into her computer.  I reply with further instructions on how to do this.

2:00: I start pricing out different laptops for my client.

2:30: I email my client the dell cart that I think he should purchase.

3:00: I start doing some programming on a project that I am working on.

6:00: My parents come home and start frying some fish.  It was either frying or on the BBQ Pit.  I told them let’s fry them because Monday is another Chemo treatment for me, and I won’t be able to eat any fried foods again for a while after my chemo treatment because my stomach won’t feel up to it.

6:30: My dad is done frying the fish.  I have a few pieces of fried fish and ketchup.

7:30: I am back on my computer doing some additional programming.

9:30: I am done programming for tonight!  Time to do some gaming!

11:59: Still gaming, Call of Duty 2!

Chemo Day #8 + 11

11/9/2012:

11:00: I am up.

11:10: In the shower.

11:20: Out of the shower.

11:30: Getting the computer ready to be delivered.

11:40: I head out the door with my wife, me to a client’s office, her to school.

11:50: I go to BestBuy to pick up a wireless adapter

12:00: I leave BestBuy.

12:15: I get to my client’s office, I drop off the computer and pick up an old server and computer for recycling.  I attempt to setup up the computer, but no screen for the computer, so I will need to order another screen.

1:15: I head on out, and back to my office to pick up my incoming shipments.

1:20: I return my Best Buy Purchase.  I don’t need it today, and I can get a better deal from a dealer of mine.

1:25: I am back in my van heading back to the office.

1:35: I get back to my office.

1:40: I go across my hall and pick up my shipments.  My headphones, and an iPad for a client.

1:50: I get a call from a client to ship them the toner and drum I ordered them.  I go online and process a shipping label through fedex.

2:10: I am heading out of my office.

2:20: I drop my package off for shipping at the FedEx/Kinko location.

2:45: I walk in and start going to work.  I setup the iPad on the wireless network, I then look at a computer that is having issues and find that its just that the Antivirus was running its scans at noon on Friday.  I changed the scan time.  I then walked around with the iPad and was getting very low coverage by the front door.  I need to install an additional wireless access point,   I have just the one in mind.  I walk around trying to find the best location for the access point upstairs so it will cover upstairs and give great coverage towards the front of the restaurant downstairs.  I will order it next week.  One of the owners comes back with a payment check, I thank them for everything, and tell them I’ll be back for additional work when the restaurant is more complete and not as rough.

3:50: I am heading back to my office.

4:00: I stop by McDonalds and pick up 2 McDoubles to put something in my stomach.  I have  a small headache and need to put something in my stomach.

4:15: I get back to my office.

4:20: I go to the restaurant right by my office because they left me a message to stop by when I had a chance.  They want me to run a CAT5e cable from the switch to the front door just about.  The maintenance guy is there and ask what I am doing, and tell me that its going to be a very hard cable run as there are alot of tight squeezes.  He offered to run it for me so that I don’t have to crawl around.

4:45: I head back to my van, get my McDoubles and checks from my van, and head upstairs.

5:00: I enjoy my two McDoubles.

5:15: I start doing administrative work, closing out work orders and helpdesk tickets and getting things ready to bill clients.

8:30: I am done closing out all the work I have done.

9:00: I head home, and heat up some Chinese rice and pepper steak.

Chemo Day #8 + 10

11/08/2012:

9:22: I get an email from a client with some requirements for an application they will be using in their new restaurant..

9:30: I get up out of bed, let buster out, and then get my stuff together for my shower.

9:35: I follow up on the email.

9:40: I jump into the shower.

9:50: I jump out of the shower.

10:00: I am in the van, heading to my office.

11:00: I get together stuff for a client, who I am going to try to go install today before my Dr. Appointment with Dr. Page.

11:15: I head out.  First I am going to go get my blood work done for my Chemo on Monday if I need it.

11:50: I sign in for the bloodwork, and sit, and sit, and sit.

12:25: Still sitting.

12:45: I get called to the back.

12:50: She sticks me, fills the 2 viles, has me sign my name, and I am out the door.  I am done, all that for 2 viles of blood.

1:00: I am back in my van.  It is too late now to go over to my client’s office, so I just head home because my mom is bringing me home a hamburger poboy to eat before heading over to the doctor’s.

1:10: My mom get’s home, and we eat and talk.

1:45: My mom and I head on over to EJGH to meet with the doctor to go over the test results from the PET Scan.

2:00: We get there, I head in and sign in.  They go over all the questions, to see if anything has changed, nope, it’s all the same, I still live where I live.

2:15: We are called to the back.  The nurse takes my vitals, and asks me how everything is going, and if there are any new developments, or pains or changes.

2:45: The doctor comes in and starts going over the PET Scan results with us.  He is not too thrilled because the results are showing a new mass in my neck.  Everything else is going down, but if this is a new mass, we are going to have to stop the chemo, do a new biopsy to figure out if its the same cancer or something else.  If it is the same cancer, then we will have to change the chemo regimen because that means that the chemo is having no effect on the chemo.  We will have to use the MOPP chemo which came before the ABVD and is more powerful, but the only thing is there are drug shortages for those chemo drugs.  If it is not the same cancer, we will have to figure out how to treat it.  Dr. Page says either way this is not good, and he has not seen this before.  Great, just my luck.  Dr. Page tells me that he has not met personally with the radiologist yet, but he will be going to meet with him to go over all three PET Scans to see if the mass was on either of the other PET Scans.  He tells me that he will call us as soon as he finds out something, as I have another doctor’s appointment for 3:30.

3:15: We head on out, with not the greatest news, but waiting on a call back.  We drive to the parking garage closer to the other doctor’s office.  I check in, and am seated in the hallway so that I don’t have to be around the others who are there because they are sick.

3:30: We are called into the patient room.

3:32: My mom gets a call on her cellphone, it’s Dr. Page, he briefly talks to her, and then talk’s to me.  The good news is that he found the mass on the original PET Scan, but it really didn’t show up as much on the second PET Scan, why, he is not sure, there are many factor’s with the timing of the second PET Scan being the day after a chemo infusion, which is not a good thing, and also my sugars were about 180 going into that PET Scan which is not a good thing either.  However, it is good that he found it, and he said for me to continue my Chemo treatment scheduled for Monday.  I get off the phone with him as Dr. Jacob is waiting to see me.

3:37: I update Dr. Jacob on my PET Scan and give him a copy of the PET Scan for his records.  I then explain to him about my coughing, which is also waking me up and keeping me up sometimes at night.  Also the last time I coughed this morning made me get a headache and pressure in my head.  Also I asked for some sleeping pills on the nights that are not my Chemo week to help me try to get back into a regular sleep pattern on those weeks.  I also asked for some cough syrup to help me stop coughing at night.  He also prescribed me some antibiotics and some Alegra D.  I then mentioned to him the findings of my last PET Scan that said something about having a paralyzed vocal cord.  He said that he had a machine that he could look down my throat to see my vocal chords, but he doubts they are paralyzed.  He then sprays this solution up both of my nostrils, which tastes disgusting as it drips down my throat.  He then leaves the room for about 15 minutes while the solution numbs my nose and throat.  He then comes back in, turns on the machine, hooks it up, and looks inside both nostrils.  He then decides to go up my left one and use that one to go down my throat.  He then makes me say A and E in series as he looked at the vibrations and characteristics of the vocal cords as I said those vowels.  He then pulled the tube out, and said everything looked fine.  He wrote my prescriptions and said that he wanted to see me back in 2 weeks.  I thank him for everything as always, and we head out.   I make my appointment for the day before Thanksgiving.  My mom makes her appointment for the same time as she still has to follow up from her Thyroid removal that he did back in April.

4:30: We are back in the car, and we head back to Dr. Page’s office.  I want to get a copy of the first PET scan if possible.  I also want to make the appointment for my next meeting with him since we have a better feeling about everything

4:40: We go to the back and get the print outs of the first PET Scan.  The nurse says Dr. Page should be out shortly, as he is with a patient.  We said that we would wait.  Dr. Page is done with the patient, and talks with us briefly again.  The game plan as of now is to finish up the 6 cycles of chemo therapy, do another PET Scan and then start Radiation.   Dr. Page says I should see him again after the Chemo is done, somewhere the week of January 7th, 2013.  He says I should be able to get my oncologist to make the appointment for the next PET Scan.  I tell him that my Oncologist office is the one who scheduled the PET scan for the day after my Chemo, which was not the best timing.  I even told him that I called his office 3 times about when the PET Scan would be scheduled, and they did nothing to change the timing of the PET Scan.  I felt better with him scheduling the PET Scan.  He said that he would then have his nurse schedule it in December when they call me up to schedule my January appointment.  He also commented that he had a hard time fighting with my insurance company about approving this PET Scan.  We wanted to know why they wanted to fight him, and what about so that we could call up and complain to them, but he said not to worry about it, that it is his job to fight them.  We thanked Dr. Page again for everything!

5:00: We are heading home.

5:20: We get home.  I lay on the sofa and watch some TV.  During the process I doze off.

7:00: I wake up, and go to my bed to doze off some more.

9:00: I get up out of bed and eat some left over Fettuccine Alfredo and Chicken Parmesan.

10:00: I am laying back down on my bed.  I do a few things on the computer.

11:45: I am dozed back off….

11:59: Still sleeping, what a long day!

Chemo Day #8 + 9

11/7/2012:

8:15: My dad wakes me up with a phone call.  Even going to bed early still doesn’t help me wake up any earlier…  I have to get up because I need to be at the hospital for 9:00 for my 3rd PET Scan.  I doze back off.

8:30: My dad calls me again, I jump out of bed, and head straight for the shower.

8:35: I am in the shower.

8:45: I am out of the shower.

8:55: We are heading out the house, my dad is driving me to the Yenni Center at EJGH for my PET Scan.

9:04: We get there, and I check in.  They have me fill out the usual questionnaire.

9:20: The nurse comes out and gives me my two delicious cups of contrast to drink as my breakfast.  I go and sit by my dad and drink up.  BLAH, UGH, Disgusting, not delicious at all.  I almost gag just drinking this stuff.  It is supposed to be berry flavored, but ugh, can’t even talk about it.

9:30: I am brought into the back by a nurse and lead to my little room I will spend the next 1.5 hours in.  I sit down, and the nurse goes and gets what she needs, she comes back and does the normal blood test procedure of putting a band around my arm having me pump my fist and flicking my arm with her fingers.  She finds the vein that I shower her they use all the time for my blood test.  She sticks it and then takes a little blood for the blood test.  It is 159.  As long as its under 200 they can do the PET Scan.  If its over 200, they can’t do it because it wouldn’t give them good results because the sugar would be over saturated in the system and the cancer cells would not absorb the radioactive glucose they are about to give me as well.  She then pushes the radioactive glucose into my arm.  No problems until half way into the push, my arm starts burning at the injection site, I can first handle it, but I tell her something because of the pure pain, and I have a high tolerance.  She stops, unscrews the radioactive glucose vile, and screws on the saline tube and pulls back, I have a good blood return so the needle is still in my vein, so its weird it is burning.  She screws back on the radioactive glucose vile, and slowly pushes the rest of the radioactive glucose vile into me and then unscrews the radioactive file, and pushes the saline through the line to flush the line so that all the radioactive glucose is in me.  She then pulls back a little and there is blood on the pullback, so its weird it burned.  She then tapes up my arm.  Puts my feet up in the Lazy Boy, and puts a blanket over me.  She tells me to be quite and still, take a nap if I want, just don’t move around or do anything, and that includes using my phone or anything else, as that can affect the results.  She shuts the leaving it only an inch on her way out.  It’s amazing how your other senses can pick up things when everything else is shut off.  I could hear a radio playing down the hall nice and clear, I was listening to the nurses talk, one nurse was having company over, and didn’t know what to cook, another nurse told him to pick up some chuck ground beef from Rouses for like $1.99 a pound that they have on sale, throw in some breadcrumbs, Italian style of course, 2 eggs, and some Tony Chachere.  Form them into patties, and throw them on the grill and cook them.  These people were not even talking that loud, but I could hear them loud and clear when there was no other noise pollution in my room, but me and my breathing.

11:00:  The nurse comes and gets me, taking the blanket off of me, and putting my feet down.  She leads me to the restroom to flush my bladder before the test, while she takes my blanket to where I will have my test done.  I am done in the restroom and walk to room with the big PET Scan machine.  I put my watch and my phone on the little table in the room, and then lay down on the platform.  They put the foam under my knees and place my arms in position, and then they raise the platform up and press the button that sends the platform into the machine, and they leave the room.  I do a full pass through the machine which I believe first takes the CT Scan images.  I then am pushed out the other end of the machine, and am pulled back in 9 inches at a time for the radioactive images of the glucose to be taken.  Each 9 inch section takes about 3 minutes.  I am pulled all the way through, and then am greeted by the nurse on the front end when I reach there on completion.  She puts my platform down, and takes the foam from under my legs.  She then grabs my arm and helps me sit up on the platform so I can get up.  I grab my phone and my watch, and thank both nurses on my way out.  One nurse walks me back to the front doors, and that’s it, I am done.

11:30: I walk over to where my dad is sitting.  He gets up, and we head on out.  He asks if I am hungry, and honestly at this moment, I am not hungry, well, I am, but I am not in the mood to eat after that disgusting contrast taste.  I say we should go home first, I will use the bathroom and then we can head out to grab something to eat.

11:45: We get home.  I check on a few things on my computer, and do a few other things.

12:30: My dad and I head out.  We are going to go to Juicy Lucy’s for lunch.

12:45: We get to Juicy Lucy’s.  The theme they are going for inside is a throw back 50’s, 60’s diner, with the waitress wearing a shirt from the time, and 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s music playing the whole time.  We both get sweet teas, and an order of fried mushrooms.  We then order the spicy burger, 1 for each of us.  They stuff their hamburgers here with the extras, so our burger is made with cheese, bacon bits combined with the meat before it is cooked, and then dipped in chicken wing sauce before its placed on the burger.  The mushrooms and the burger are great!  I am definitely up for coming back again!

1:45: We are heading out, and back home!

2:00: We are back home.  I get a few things together to head over to the office with.

2:15: I am heading over to the office.

2:25: I am at the office.    Thankfully it is a slow day.  I do some administrative follow up on the work I did earlier during the week.  I then did some office cleaning.  I also my center monitors around my office on an elbow that I had purchased about 5 months ago.  This will make it easier and more ideal to work on the computers at the office with the middle monitor being truly centered catercorner on and angle.  This is the way we originally built the desk, but never had the mounts to make the monitor match the desk.  Well here ya go, all done, and very nice, if you ask me.  Also gave me a reason to clean my desk 🙂

8:30: I am done with my office and some cleaning.  I still have a lot of cleaning left, but the organization has begun!

8:35: I am in my van.

8:45: I get home.

9:00: I heat up and eat the left over steak.  I also eat some of the Pumpkin Pie from last night that I didn’t touch so that I wouldn’t hurt my blood sugar numbers for my PET scan today.

10:00: I am exhausted.  I go in my room, and lay down.  I pull out the computer and start doing some where, but before I know it, I crash on the computer.

11:59: Still sleeping….

Chemo Day #8 + 8

11/06/2012:

9:40: I get a call from a client who would like her email setup on her computer at work.  I configure everything on the computer then realize that this user doesn’t have an email account setup yet that is associated with their client’s account.  She first started off as an intern, and she has stayed around longer than expected.  I log into the client’s hosting interface and add this users email account.

9:52: While I was doing all the above, I get an email from a client who would like to bring in her personal computer to my office sometime during the day so that I can work on it.  I email her back telling her that I will let her know once I am back in the office.

10:00: I finish up the email configuration.  I am able to send and receive test emails on her computer, so everything is good to go.

10:30: I get an email from my business partner with a business proposal for me to work on for him for another venture.

10:45: I jump in the shower.

10:55: I jump out the shower.

11:05: I am in my van heading over to my office.

11:15: I am at my office.  I start doing a few things around the office to clean up a little bit while I am working on a few minor things here and there.

12:30: I start working on the client’s computer who had email and printing problems yesterday.   I removed Norton, the network administrator didn’t know the password to remove the Symantec Antivirus, so I downloaded the CleanWipe utility from Norton’s Website and ran that.  After 2 reboots and a number of entry removals, the Symantec Antivirus was off of the computer.  I worked with Outlook changing settings to his emails were coming in almost instantly, as before he wasn’t getting them in at all, and he was able to send out emails pretty quickly too without them hanging in his outbox. I started working on the drivers for the printer so that he could directly print to the printer instead of printing to the servers in CO to print back to the local printer.  At first the printer was printing gibberish, we then switched the printer drivers and was able to print with no problems, and very quick too with no errors like before.

4:00: Another user at the same location is having a similar issue with her computer.  Again, this is not my network, I am just a subcontractor and am limited to working on the local machines and not the network setup.  Just trying to get around on the computer was very sluggish and slow.  It took forever to launch applications and to do various tasks on the computer.  I ran CCleaner, and removed over 4GB of temporary files, over 1000 Registry Issues, and removed a number of uneeded items from the start up menu.  I also ran Clean Wipe on the computer and let it reboot twice to completely remove the Symantec Antivirus running on the machine.  Once this was done the computer was running much quicker.  I then added the printer as a local printer.  Everything is running much quicker, and the user can print her own documents now as the network printer has been setup as a direct print from her computer to the IP Address.

7:00: I am done with all that foolishness, all fixed!

7:30: I get in my van and head home.  I am bringing home the two toners for a client’s office that emailed me earlier stating that they need toner for their fax machine because the machine has completely stopped working and is saying replace toner.  I also bring home a toner cartridge for my printer at home, and another toner cartridge for the person who’s printer installed on Saturday whom just so happen is cooking me dinner tonight and dropping it off at the house.

7:45: I get home.

7:50: I get my dinner together!  Here’s the menu, all laid out, salad, Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken Parmesan, Spinach With Cheese and Breadcrumbs, and a soup.   Mmm, all really good stuff, but I can’t eat too late, as I have my PET Scan tomorrow!  My sugars need to be low in order to do the PET Scan, and I can’t eat anything after midnight.

8:35: I am stuffed!  Time to head down to my client’s location and deliver that toner for their fax machine.  My dad is driving tonight.

8:45: We are in the car headed uptown.

9:00: We are at the client’s office.  I put one toner in the cabinet, and the other toner in the fax machine, which it then proceeds to print out at least 100 pages in stored faxes.

9:10: My dad and I head on out, and headed back home.

9:45: We get back home.

10:00: I go lay in bed and follow up with the work I was doing earlier today, and do some billing.  I also do some programming as well, and review some info for some projects that I need to work on.

11:59: I am dozing off here and there.   Now I am completely out of it….  Night

Chemo Day #8 + 7

11/05/2012:

12:00: Still gamin…

12:30: Off to bed, just tired….

10:07: I get a call from a client who called me on Friday, with the same email and slowness issues.  I decide to do a full scan and follow up with the administrators of the network who are located in Colorado on other possible solutions as it’s their network.

11:30: I find a few things on the computer, and clean those items off of the computer.

12:30: Done working on that computer for now, time to go get a shower so I can get to work,

12:45: I jump in the shower.

12:55: I jump out of the shower.

1:10: I am in my van heading to the office, finally…

1:20: I am at the office.

1:30: I call the client who’s computer I was working on letting them know that I am just waiting for an email back before any further actions.

2:26: I call a client who was having some printer issues.  She did everything but restart the computer.  I tried a few things then removed the printer and added it back, however if I had restarted the computer, it would have probably fixed it too.

3:00: I check on the status of all my orders placed over the weekend, and everything is on schedule.

4:00: I go to cleaning up the office a little bit.  Emptying the shredders, stacking some empty boxes and doing stuff that I normally did more often when I was feeling better.  I shred a load of paper.

5:00: I work on doing some billing for things I have done today and over the weekend.

6:15: Time for me to head home to watch the Saint’s game!

6:25: I am in my van, and traffic sucks!

6:50: I get home.

7:00: I warm up some of the shrimp alfredo, and eat that.  My mom had also made some red beans and rice and sausage, so I have a small helping of that.

7:30: The game is on :)

10:40: The game is over.  Saints won this one :)

10:45: I am back on my computer for some more gaming.

11:50: I am done gaming for tonight!

11:59: Goodnight, just laying in bed, waiting to fall asleep…

Chemo Day #8 + 6

11/04/2012:

12:00: Yep still gaming!

2:00: I finish up my gaming, and I am headed to sleep, I am exhausted…  It’s really 1:00 with daylight savings time falling back, but I am going to bed anyway.

11:00: I am up and about. Doughnuts for breakfast :)   My dad is cooking a leg of lamb on the BBQ pit on low with indirect heat.

12:00: I am on my computer checking a few things from my orders.  My clan members are also having an issue with using TeamSpeak, so I jump on and go over a few setting changes, once they make these changes they can hear what they want to hear on our TeamSpeak server that I am hosting from my office.

1:30: Time for some of that lamb and gravy and rice.  Very good!

2:30: I am back on my computer.  Checking out a few things for a client.

3:15: I am tired of sitting up, time for me to go lay in bed and work.

4:30: My Aunt Estella and Uncle Vic stop by with some bread pudding for me, and they are going to talk over cabinets and counter top materials with my mom and dad since they had theirs done in 2004.

5:00: I go out to the kitchen and have my helping of bread pudding, and then back to laying down in my room on my computer.

6:00: I doze off….

9:15: I wake up.  The computer is still right by me on the bed.  I go back to what I was working on.

9:45: I start working on some programming.

11:00: I am done my programming, time to get some gaming in.

11:15: I am on my computer in the room, loading up COD2.  Game on.

11:59: Still gaming!

Chemo Day #8 + 5

11/03/2012:

12:00: I am gaming.

2:45: I am done gaming for tonight.  Time to go crash and go to sleep.

3:00: I am out….

1:00: I am just waking up.  Wow 14 hours of sleep!  I get up and eat some biscuits my mom had cooked earlier.

1:30: I am laying back in bed working on moving the email and website for the business across the hall from their server to my server since they will need their emails after the end of the year for final business closure, and I will host that on our www.handyshosting.com servers.

3:00: I get done transferring the website and all the emails and the testing and changing the name servers.

4:00: I start working on another issue of relaying mail that I see going on.  Everything I am trying is not working, so I check on a few different things before I finally get it.

5:00: I go back to some programming.

6:30: My dad throws some steaks on the pit.

7:15: The steaks are done, and we sit down to eat.  These steaks are delicious!!!

8:00: I do some additional programming on my desktop computer.  I need a new pair of gaming headphones too, so while I am searching for other things to order for clients, I find a great deal on some headphones.

11:30: I am done programming for tonight.

11:45: Time to relax and blow off some steam and do some gaming!

11:59: Another day done, and I am gaming 🙂

Chemo Day #8 + 4

11/02/2012:

9:04: I get a call from a client, but I am still half awake and half asleep and let it go to voicemail.

11:37: I get a call from another client, but I am still out of it, wow, this round of chemo has me down…

11:45: I get up out of bed, I let Buster out, I get my stuff together for my shower.

12:00: I jump into the shower.

12:10: I jump out of the shower.

12:25: I attempt to start my van and go to work, but my van won’t start.  Guess it’s because I havn’t started it in 4 days, and there is a slow drain on it from my radio that I need to replace.

12:50: I go across the street and ask for a jump from my neighbor.  He says he can, but it will have to be quick as he has a doctor’s appointment to go to.  While he gets his keys and moves his SUV, I hook up the wires to my battery.  We then work on unhooking his hood after he popped it.  I then hook up the cable and let it charge.  I try to start it twice, but not enough power has transferred yet to charge the battery to a starting point.

12:57: My van starts up, my neighbor is heading off to his doctor’s appointment.  I have a surge protector to install for a client, so I drive over to the office.

1:30: I install the surge protector.

1:40: Another client in the same office is having problems scanning, so I check out that problem while I am there too.  Funny thing is all they do is turn on the scanner/printer, and it works just like it should, and I didn’t touch it.  This seems to happen often that something doesn’t work until I show up, oh well, that was an easy fix.

2:00: I am headed back to my office.

2:15: I pick up 2 McDoubles from McDonalds.

2:30: I am back at my office.  I go across the hall and check on them as they are starting to pack up because they are going out of business.

2:50: I come back in the office and eat my McDoubles 🙂

3:00: I start sending out emails with the invoices and statements I ran last night.

3:25: I get an email from a client checking up on me after they got my invoice.  They were just about to send an email to see how I was doing.

3:40: I get a call from a client, they can’t get emails.  I connect to the computer, everything looks fine, I change a setting on the Outlook account, and they get their emails, I change the setting back, and they don’t have their emails, I change it back and they have their emails.  They are the only one in the organization working locally, everyone else is working via VMWare remotely without any issues.  We leave the settings changed to what is working for right now.

4:00: I get done with that client, and got an email from another client who sent me 2 documents to update their website with.  I change the documents to pdf format and then change the documents on the website to the new documents.

4:30: I email the client tell him that the documents on the website have been update.

5:00: I get an email from a client saying they can’t print correctly, I email them back, and the manager emails me back with a clearer description of the problem, I ask them if they chose another printer out the list does the same thing happen, they will check it out on Monday and let me know.

5:30: I email a client about a used phone system that I just installed in April for the company that is going out of business across the hall to see if they are interested.  They are interested and will review it and let me know as it gets closer to the end of the year as the business across the hall will be in business to December 31, 2012.

6:00: That’s it for today, I am tired of being at the office today, time for me to head on home.

6:15: I get home.  My dad has some Pork Chops on the pit.

7:00: The Pork Chops are ready.  I eat 9 of them, but skip the Shrimp Alfredo as the side.

8:00: I am done eating.  I go lay down in my bed and do some programming.

11:30: I made some breakthroughs on my programming, but enough programming for tonight.  Time to go relax and game for a little bit.

11:59: I am gaming 🙂  Today is over!

Chemo Day #8 + 3

11/01/2012:

9:04: I get waken up by a call from the client who’s domain servers I changed yesterday.  I get up out of bed and go to my desktop computer, but before that while I am letting Buster outside in the backyard, I don’t feel too good.  I take a Zofran to take care of my little bit of nausea that I am feeling. The new service provider for their emails setup all the email accounts with special passwords instead of the password that I provided for all the clients.  The clients are getting pop ups every minute when the computers are checking for new emails that the passwords are not correct.  I first load up one account at my house computer to test out the current settings that are on their computers on my computer.  Once I find that the current settings will work with the new provider, I log into the control panel for the new emails and change all the passwords to what they were for the old account.  As soon as I do this, all the computers at the office are able to receive and send emails again without any boxes popping up because the configuration is now the same as it was on the old servers, just a new server.

9:45: I am not feeling good still.  That other pill is not really working.  The doc said that I could go ahead and Phenergan  on top of the Zofran when I first started taking the pills, so I go ahead and pop a Phenergan and lay back down.  That’s it, I am out of it after that pill……

4:00: I wake up, Yes that’s right, I slept from about 10 AM to 4 PM on top of all that rest I got before.  The Phenergan will do that to you.  Luckily I didn’t get any other emails or phone calls all day.

5:15: My mom goes off to grocery.  I am in the mood for some Shrimp Alfredo.  She picks up what we need for that.

6:00: My mom gets back home, and I help her unload the car.

6:30: My dad and I head over to my office to check on any payments that have come in so that I can enter them into the system before running the monthly statements for my clients.  I am letting my dad drive, as I am not up to driving.

6:45: We get to the office.  I only have one payment.  I go across the hall and get the two shipments that came in on Monday.

7:00: My dad and I head back home.

7:15: We get back home and supper is ready.

7:30: I eat the Shrimp Alfredo my dad has made.  It is good.  It is bland, no spice at all, but that’s all my stomach can handle at the moment.

8:30: I am done eating, I am tired too, so I am going to go lay down for a bit.

8:45: I am sleeping….

11:30: I wake up, I run the monthly statements and invoices from the other night, but I will email those tomorrow when I go back over to the office.

11:59: I am sleeping again.  I don’t know, I am just tired and more nauseated this chemo.  Each one get’s worse, so this is just adding up I take it…

Chemo Day #8 + 2

10/31/2012:

8:18: I get an email from a client needing help with an application on their computer system.  However it seems that to upgrade this application, another primary application in the organization will need to be updated first.  I will have to contact the software manufacturer for steps on upgrading the software to their current release as this is custom software.

11:00: I get out of bed, and let Buster out.  I try to sit at my computer for a little bit to do some work.

11:20: The client calls me about the same thing that they emailed me about.  I have them explain to me what brought the upgrade about, and they had gotten a call from the software people about upgrading the application but discovered that the main software needed to be upgraded first.  I told them to email me all contact that they had with the software company that contacted them so that I can contact both companies to figure out the best way to upgrade them.  I will look into this next week when I am feeling better.

11:40: I go get ready to get my shower, shave my head, and shave my face.

11:50: I jump into the shower.

12:00: I jump out of the shower.

12:05: I get a call from my brother-in-law looking for a Point-Of-Sale solution for a pharmacy setup that will accept different cards and insurances.  I tell him I will have to do some research on it.

12:17: I get an email from a client asking if I have control over the name servers for their domain name because they are changing from one hosting provider and web designer to another, and need the name servers changed to the reflect the new name servers to redirect traffic to the new server.  I know completely over your head if you are not in the tech world, but it is what it is…

12:35: I start doing some research on the domain registrar and do a password reset, I then email the client for them to forward me the password reset email.

1:00: They forward the email to me, and then I go to work changing the domain servers.

1:30: After doing updates the domain account and changing the domain servers, I email everyone and let them know the changes have been made.

1:45: I go back to doing research for the Point-Of-Sale solution with the pharmacist solution.

2:00: I go back to laying down in my bed, I just don’t have the energy to sit up in my chair at my desk at home and continue to work.

2:47: I get an email from a client who has questions about printing up labels on their printer.  I remote into the computer and shadow them through the label printing process.  I walk her through how to print the labels and redirection the paper when inputing it into the printer to have the labels print up correctly.

4:10: I get an email from a client wanting to follow through with purchasing an iPad for an application needed in what they are putting together.

4:30: I follow through with purchasing the iPad for the client.

5:00: My dad throws some fish on the BBQ pit outside.

5:40: The fish is ready to eat.  This fish is good!  I haven’t had some grilled/bbq’d fish in a while.

6:30: I am back in my room laying on my bed, doing some administrative work, inputting time and billing for the work that I have done the past week.

10:30: I am done doing all that admin work.  I just lay in bed and watch some TV as I slowly doze off.

11:59: Yup still dozing…

Chemo Day #8 + 1

10/30/2012:

9:49: My business partner calls me up and asks me what I am up to.  I tell him that I am still sleeping, I just had my chemo yesterday and I am out of it.  He tells me not to worry about it and for me to get my rest.

10:04: I get a call from a client who can’t burn in Roxio because another user has the program in use.  We have had this issue a few times where a user didn’t shut down roxio properly and there was a file created by the user upon opening Roxio that wasn’t deleted and therefore no other users can use it to that file is deleted.

10:10: I remote into the desktop. I browse from the file, and have to search where the file is again because I don’t recall exactly where it is with my memory in and out of it with the chemo.

10:40: I finally find the file and email the client that they should be able to use Roxio again.

11:13: Sure enough they email me back saying everything is working as it should.

11:25: I get an email from a client who has issues with lines going down the page when copying items.  I tell them it sounds like a white out issue or dirt on the glass and to clean the glass and the line issues should go away.

11:35: They email me back after cleaning and saying now the copies are too light.  I tell them to check the contrast and brightness/darkness settings on the copy settings, and see if changing them resolves the issues.

1:25: I go to the back room and get a pizza out the freezer.

1:35: I throw the pizza in the oven.

1:55: They email me back, all is well, they are copying with no issues now, just some dirt, and setting issues.

1:56: I get an email from a client seeing if she really needs to renew her warranty on her three dell computers she purchased last year.  I told her that it is really a gamble.  Most of the Dell computers usually don’t have hardware issues with them, especially desktops within the first 3 or 4 years because they are not usually moved around much, and besides lightning strikes and static electricity which is not covered by the basic warranty anyway, they usually last at least 5 – 6 years before developing any hardware issues.

2:00: I take the pizza out the oven.  I like the taste of store bought oven baked pizzas.

2:20: I am back on my computer checking on a few things here and there.

3:30: My mom gets home and she has picked up some Indian Food from a different restaurant that is much closer than the other two Indian Restaurants, I just did a google search earlier today and found one only a few blocks away.  I just needed some additional Indian rice for some Indian food I had left over from the previous night.

4:00: I get off the phone with Jamie, and then warm up the Indian Food that I had left over from the night before and added the rice that my mom bought today to make my meal.

4:30: I am stuffed from the Indian food and the Pizza I had today.

5:00: I go lay down in bed, I am tired of sitting up.

6:00: I am half watching TV half working on the computer.  I am just tired from sitting up at the other computer.

7:00: I jump onto a laptop for the restaurant I was working on and configure the google drive for data syncing between the desktop and the laptop.

8:00: I finish the syncing setup and testing.

9:00: I setup the printer to send back reports on toner and drum replacement needs, and also any errors that the printer comes across and relay those errors to me via email.

10:00: I eat some candy, but my stomach is not too happy with candy at the moment.

10:15: I do some additional research on some other projects I have coming up here and there.

11:00: I am starting to doze in and out, just tired.

11:59: I am putting my computer on the night stand and going to crash…  My stomach is still full!

Chemo Day #8: ~~~~ 4 More to Go

10/29/2012:

Possibly My Last Chemo, If My Pet Scan Results come back under 2’s next week! Then Radiation…

12:00: I am still playing my Call of Duty 2 game…

2:00: I quit playing for tonight.

2:05: I update my blog, prepping it for later today, another chemo day.

2:30: I head on off to bed!

7:40: I get a call from a client, they are getting a message that their dns server is down. I look at the list of computers and all of them at that office or offline. I tell the doctor that I will head over and check it our for him while he goes and visits patients in the hospital.

7:50: I jump in my van and leave my house.

8:00: I get to the office and log onto a computer. The server is up, just the t1 line is down causing the internet and the phones not to be working. I do some basic troubleshooting and then see the red alarm light in the T1. I attempt to call up at&t and they are of no help. I then, called the number listed on the phone for nuvox. Windstream answers the phone and explain the issue to the tech. They create a ticket and tell me it is setup with a critical status since both internet and phone are down.

I check a few things then get a call back from windstream. The want the status of the router, and I give them the status of the T1 too, 1 red light and 2 green lights. They have me restart the nuvox router. What do you know, it takes about 5 mins, but the data and the phones come back up online. I make a few test searches and everthing pulls up with no issues. I tell them the issue is resolved and they will leave the ticket open to the end of the day.

9:30: I am heading back home to my house, maybe ill get some rest in…. Yeah right.

9:45: I get a phone call or two on the office line when I get home and answer them. I then check on a few things on the computer.

10:00: I do some research on some packages that I am working on.

11:00: My wife wakes up and gets in the shower, however as she walked through the room, she asked me to make some of her green tea and condensed milk.

11:15: I take care of her tea while walking back and forth to my computer answering client emails.

11:45: I am done on the computer for now.

12:00: I start shaving my head. It’s not fun, since I havnt done it in a dew days.

12:10: I jump in the shower.

12:20: I jump out the shower.

12:30: I put on the lidocaine cream to deaden the skin around my port since not doing it really hurta.

12:35: My uncle frank calls me as I am finishing up. I ask him to give me 5. I finish up the cream, tell Buster to get in his cage which he does by walking over to it pawwing the door with his paw to open it up, gets in, and waits inside his treat. I lock him up, grab my laptop, keys, wallet, phone, and laptop and head out. I lock up and jump in Uncle Frank’s car.

12:40: He drives me over to EJGH.

12:50: I get dropped off and to my normal desk to checkin and they tell me to head upstairs as they moced the checkin location.

12:54: I checkin upstairs and have a seat.

1:00: They give me a pager that they will buzz when its my turn.

1:03: A nurse comes around and starts calling out names and takes their blood pressure and temperatures.

1:10: My stats are taken:118/85 Blood Pressure

1:48: I am still sitting here waiting for them to call my name or my pager to ring. I have dozed off enough once to drop my phone, but I have been in and out of it.

2:15: Still waiting in the waiting room…

2:30: Still waiting in the waiting room…

3:05: My name is called, and I am led into the back.  Well what do you know, I get to be in Bed 2, the same place I was in when I started my first chemo.

3:15: She starts my needle, but has problems pulling blood back.  I tell her that they had a problem with this the first time and used some cathflo to remove the blockage.  My nurse today is going to try some heprin to see if that will clear the clot.  If it does we’ll move on, if not, we’ll get some cathflo ordered to break up the clot and then move on.

3:30: She puts the heprin into me.  We will wait 15 minutes, and then she will try to pull the blood back.

3:45: Another nurse comes in and tries to pull some blood back, which she is able to.  She puts the saline drip in and let’s that start working into my system.

4:00: The nurse comes back with the bag of  Zofran and the Decadron hangs it and starts pumping that into me.

4:05: My dad arrives, and has a seat.  We talk for a little bit and watch NCIS as well.

4:20: The nurse brings my bag of emend and starts pumping that into me.

4:45: Here comes the bag of the nasty red stuff, blah, Adriamycin, I could do without it, but my body needs it so suffer I must.  I ask for a Popsicle, either the orange or the purple, NOT THE RED!  They bring me 2 packs, I pick the orange and my dad gets the purple.

5:00: I get my dad to grab me two purples out of the freezer, I don’t want the possibility of tasting the bad stuff at all, and the cold Popsicle help minimize if not completely hide the taste of this nasty tasting drug.

5:05: They flush my line with more saline drip.

5:15: They nurse wants to change up the order, I refer back to my blog and tell the nurse that they have always administered the drugs to me in a certain order, and I read her the order from my blog.  She then hooks up the next drug Bleomucin in order of my blogging history.

5:40: That drug is done being pumped in, they flush my line with additional saline.

5:50: Another nurse comes in and pushes my Vinblastine out of the syringe.

5:57: She is done this push and let’s the saline flush the line for a little bit.

6:05: My next and final drug, Dacarbazine is hooked up and they start pushing that into me.

6:40: That final drug is done being pushed.  They flush out my line a little bit with the saline.

6:50: She takes off my patch that is holding the needle into my port, and then pulls the needle out.  Thank goodness I don’t feel a thing.

7:00: We walk out of the room, as always I stop for my bathroom break by the elevator before heading out to the car.  I gotta flush some of all those bags of liquids they just pumped into me.

7:05: Back in the elevator and downstairs we head.  This is the latest I have ever left the Yenni Treatment Center.  It is a bit chilly, but not that bad, as we walk to the CRV, only about 5 cars in the parking lot too.

7:20: We get home.  My mom asks me what I am up to eating.  I don’t want anything that will blend in with the disgusting taste that I have in my mouth.  Some nice strong Indian Food from Taj Mahal sounds appealing.  I want the Lamb Tikka Masala, I love my Lamb.

7:30: I sit in the lazy boy and doze of fairly quickly.

8:45: The food is home.  I dive right into my Lamb Tikka Masalla making 3 helpings of it by spreading it out with plenty of rice.

9:30: That was some great food!  I enjoyed it!  I sit with my wife while she eats her spinach dish.

10:00: I am laying in bed, and it doesn’t take long for me to doze off.

11:59: Still sleeping…..

Chemo Day #7 + 13

10/28/2012:

12:30: I jump on my Call of Duty 2 game.

2:00: I jump off of the game, and into bed.  I pull out my laptop and start working on catching up on my blog.

3:34: Here I am, I am caught up on the blog.  Let me see if I can stay on top of this a little more again!

4:30: I finally fall asleep…..

1:30: I wake up and get out of bed.  I let Buster outside, and it’s very nice outside.  I notice on the weather channel all they are talking about is Hurricane Sandy heading towards New York!  Wow, they never do this kind of coverage when we have a Hurricane heading for New Orleans, I wonder what that’s all about, whatever….

2:00: I flip one of the many football games on today, and watch a little bit of it.

3:00: I get on my computer and start doing some admin work.  I have to invoice for all the Toner and Inks that I got in last week and delivered last week, or will be delivering this week.

4:00: I am done with all that stocking and sorting and filling orders.

4:15: I start piecing together some Dell Computers on their website.  I found a really really good deal on Thursday, and emailed them to my client, but I don’t think my client jumped on them in time.  Yesterday the prices were back up more than $200 on the computers that I was looking at.  It was either a really good deal or a very wrong price.

4:30: I send out the invoices for the inks and toners.

4:45: I finish up porting a client’s website from their hosting provider to my hosting service, www.handyshosting.com.

5:50: I send out an email to the client about those Dell Desktops.

6:10: I get Buster and we head on over to the office.

6:25: We get to the office.  I deposit my paycheck by snapping it with my phone, and also transfer the withholding taxes from the business checking account to the savings account for that check.

6:45: Buster and I head back  home.

6:55: We get back home, and my dad is almost done frying some catfish that my mom picked up earlier today.

7:00: I flip to the coverage of the Saints game.

10:30: Saints Loose, oh well back to my Desktop Computer.  I check on a few things.

11:00: I log into my Call of Duty 2 game.  If it was up to me, I would play this all day non stop, oh wait, I have already done that, but I will not divulge details about that on here, I like my job prospects too much 😛

11:59: Still gaming tonight.  Improving somewhat, but I think the Chemo is really affecting my eye and hand coordination, I am not as good as I used to be…

Chemo Day #7 + 12

10/27/2012:

12:00: I am still gaming.

2:00: I am done gaming.  I am tired.  My throat is also hurting me a little.  I am going to try to go to sleep.

10:30: My wife is up and getting ready.  Neither of us slept really well last night.  I was tossing and turning all night.  My throat would usually be the thing waking me up.  I am up.  I can’t sleep anymore.

10:50: My wife leaves for work.

11:10: My wife calls me telling me she is coming back home.  They told too many people to come in today for work, so she was told she could go home, if they need her, or if someone want’s to leave or has to leave, they will call her.

11:15: I am warming up the leftover cauliflower from Thursday night.  NCIS is on TV.

11:25: My wife gets home.   The cauliflower is so good, I have two helpings.   I think about having some pumpkin pie, but it just doesn’t smell right, and my dad said it tasted like shrimp, so in the garbage it went.

12:00:  I lay on the sofa and watch some more NCIS.

1:00: Next thing I know, I fall asleep again.

3:00: My wife’s cell phone rings, waking us up. it’s her work, they want her to come back in because one of the other people have to leave.

3:30: I jump on my computer.  I start processing all of the work I did the previous day at the restaurant.  I also start processing all of the toner and ink.  A lot of processing and typing to do.  I am noticing that my sore throat is gone now.  I just have a cough and and a dripping nose.

7:00: My wife comes back home.  She has brought home some taco stuff, which I just eat like a taco salad, and some cinnamon sticks from work.

7:30: Back on my computer work.

8:15: My dad take’s off to go bring my Mom some Chik Fillet because she is pulling a 24 from 7AM this morning to 7AM tomorrow morning.

8:40: He brings us back home a chicken sandwich. It doesn’t take long for me to dive into that.

8:55: I am back on my computer doing a few things, I notice I can’t get to my work computer the office.

9:00: I jump in the shower.

9:10: I jump out of the shower.

9:20: I am in their CRV heading over to the office.

9:30: I get to the office.  My computer is not on, that was the problem.  I turn it back on and do a few things on it as well as do a few things around the office as well.

11:50: I leave the office and head back home.

11:59: What do you know, another night gone.  I am home!

Chemo Day #7 + 11

10/26/2012:

12:00: Yep gaming!  Call of Duty 2.  It’s an oldie but goodie.

1:30: I am done gaming for tonight, my eyes are tired, and time for me to knock off.

9:17: I get a call from a client, waking me up,  about the printing.  I can feel my voice not as what it should be, and my throat hurting a little bit while I am talking to them on the phone. They are able to print fine, but they are not able to make all the adjustments like they used to on the other computers.  I tell them to set the other printer driver back as the default printer driver to use when printing, and only use the new printer driver when they want to print legal paper.  I log into the server, and set the other printer as the default printer in the group policy.

12:02: I get another email from a client, waking me up again, about not being able to print.  I get up out of bed, let Buster out, and then go sit by my Desktop computer.  I remote in, and look at the printer settings.  I change one setting, and the printer starts printing the 30 documents that they had in queue, all taken care of.

12:25: I let Buster back in and get my stuff for my shower.

12:35: I jump in the shower.

12:45: I jump out of the shower.

12:55: I am in my van, heading over to my office.  I start packing up everything to go over to the Restaurant to put in their new computer since it was delivered today.  I also process the checks that came in so I can deposit them on the way.

2:20: I get an email from a client who is out of toner, and the toner that is in the printer is starting to fade when printing.  I go through all the boxes of toner and ink that came in today and the previous today, and I piece together their order.  Only two things are missing from the order and that is the toner and drum for the fax machine, which the don’t need yet.  I put together the drum and 3 toners for the front desk printer, the 3 colors for the upstairs printer, the 3 colors and 2 blacks for one of the downstairs printers, and the one black and one tricolor for the other upstairs printer.  I then load up the van with the toner for me to go drop off to them. I also load the new monitor in my van for the restaurant.  I also load up some surge protectors I need for the new install.

2:47: I head out and stop by the bank, and deposit the checks.

2:55: I get on the I-10, heading into the city.  Traffic coming out the city is backed up from Causeway all the way to Metairie Road.  I know I am not taking that way back out.

3:10: I get to the office and drop off the ink, toner and drum, and go over the order with them.  They are surprised I showed up.  I tell them I get all the emails to my phone, and knew that they needed their toner and ink ASAP.  I head back out.  I will take Earhart to Cleary to Veterans Blvd to get to the new restaurant instead of fighting all that traffic coming out of the city.

3:30: I get to the restaurant and go to work right away.  I run a wire around the room behind all the furniture for the phone on the second desk.  I would usually run through the ceiling, but since I am not feeling 100% and the ceiling over the desk is solid because its an airduct, and I can’t really get to that wall, I will just use the wire around the room instead.  I punch down the wire on one side and put 2 RJ11s on the other side.  I plug in the phone, program it, and test it out.  I can intercom between the two phones, and make and receive phone calls.  I then move the laptop to this desk, as it is closer to the door and will be used less.  The room is small and because of this, since it will be used less, it would be best for the laptop to be there for the least inconvenience of access to the room.  I then unpack the monitor and hook it all up.  I unpack the new Dell Computer and hook it up.  I start the configuration.  I then unpack the tray for the HP color printer.  Following that, I unpack the HP printer, and set it on top of its tray.  I cut the wires to length to make everything neater in the corner.  I then run a network cable to the HP printer from the router, and turn it on.  I then unpack the second printer which will be the main printer since it is black and white, it will also be the office scanner and the fax machine.  I take off the 20 pieces of tape on the machine, and then power it up.  I set up this one on the wireless network.  I then go on the desktop and do its initial setup.  I remove all unneeded programs.  I download and install the drivers for the printers as long as the software to manage the scanning.  I send out 2 test faxes, I do a test scan, and I also do a print test page for both printers.  I then go to the laptop and do the same thing, I download the drivers for the printers and print test pages.  Once all that is setup, I make sure that the laptop and computer are setup never to go to sleep so that I can remote access them. I pack up all my tools, stack up all the boxes neatly.  I walk around the restaurant and move my van to the back door so that I can pack up and make one trip rather then 5 trips will all the various things I have to put in my van.

7:30: I am headed out, all done for today.

7:45: I get home, and my parents want to go out to eat.  My mom is on the phone with work, so we wait for her.

7:50: My wife calls me up, and she is on her way home from school, so we wait for her as well before we leave.

8:00: My wife gets home.

8:10: We had on out.  We don’t really know where to go.  My dad finally comes up with Johnny Trout’s seafood.  I figure why not, I will not want to eat anything come Monday again with my next infusion of Chemo, so I may as well enjoy some food.

8:25: We get to Johnny Trout’s and go inside.  We have the fried Alligator to start things off with.  I get the all you can eat fried catfish and chicken.  The alligator is great.  The catfish and chicken I have is really good.  So good, I get two extra orders of chicken.

9:35: We head on out the Restaurant, back in the CRV.

9:55: We get home.

10:00: I get on my Desktop Computer.  I remote into the two computers, download Office 2010 Professional, and install and activate the software.  I then apply the updates for Office to the computers.  I also download Quickbooks Pro 2013 to the desktop.  I will install this when I go back to my office as that is where the keycode is.

11:00: I am done working on those two machines.

11:30: I jump on my Call of Duty 2 game.  This time I run into one of my clan members that I havn’t seen in a while.  I need to get a new headset with a microphone so I can start talking with them again when I am playing.

11:59: Still playing my COD2 🙂  My throat is hurting a little.

Chemo Day #7 + 10

10/25/2012:

1:30: I log off of my Call of Duty 2 Game, and go to sleep!

9:29: I get a call from a client, she has a few questions about a website that a client asked her if she does, which she is going to pass off to me for me to take care of, she just needs to get more details from the client.

9:34: I get a call from the client who’s desktop I cleaned up last night and did a defrag on.  Their outlook data file is corrupted.  The computer is too slow to do a fix on the pst file, so I decide to just remove the pst file and recreate the profile, and let all the emails download from the server again.

10:15: I am transferred to the head of the company who tells me to go ahead and get them new computers for that location to speed up their work and what they are doing in the long run.  I tell them I will get to computer searching for them today and email the cart to their purchaser.

10:25: I get everything together for my shower.

10:35: I jump in the shower.

10:45: I jump out the shower.

10:50: I head on over to the Quest Diagnostics Center for my blood work.

10:53: I park on top the parking garage and take the elevator down and then walk over to their office.

10:56: I sign into Quest.

11:05: They take me in the back, scan my ID, print up the tube labels. Stick me on the first shot, fill up the two tubes, tape up my arm, have me sign the paper, and then I walk out.

11:15: I am back in my van up on top, I take the circling down to the ground level and head on out to my office.  I take the service road to Clearview to West Napoleon, back on to Clearview, and get on the I-10 towards the city and get off at Causeway.  I am waiting to take the 17th street turn from Causeway North and my van starts jerking while idling.  I drive a little ways more and pull into a parking lot, it idles roughly, but never dies, I guess it could be the gas I recently just filled up with on Monday.  I only have about 20 miles on this tank.  I continue to McDonalds.

11:30: I get to McDoanlds and pick up my 2 McDoubles for lunch.  I then drive back to my office.

11:45: I am back at my office.  I put my food in my office, get the mail from the front office, and then go across the hall to check for packages.  This company is shutting down by the end of the year because of government policy changes that are forcing them out of business and unable to continue their current clients or bring on any more clients.  I need to price out their server, phone system, and a few of the computers for them.

12:00: I am back in my office, I eat my 2 McDoubles, and make me a nice large cup of my Lipton Tea.

12:15: I start getting some feedback from one of the websites.  It is the bossman with that project wanting to know where the emails are going.  I add him to the list of the email recipients to get feedback from any form filled out on the website.  He is happy with those changes.  I then tell my business partner to check in with him, because my partner is the one designing this website for that project.

3:14: I get a call from a client who can’t print legal sized paper even though all the settings in the printer settings are set to legal.  I get off the phone with her and start to search for and updated driver.

3:30: I find an updated driver to install, and install it on the server.

3:42: I get a call from Jamie.  He is going over a few plans with me, as I finish installing the printer driver.

3:50: I call the client back up and remote into her computer and then add that driver to her computer, she is able to print legally again.

4:00: I finish installing the last of the Rosetta Stone language CDs. I then go to install it and have an issue with putting in the key code.  I go to their website, and follow their directions to delete certain files.  I remove these files.

4:30: I update a module on a client of mine’s website.  Their website was using and older version of a  module and it had security flaws that was letting request overwhelm the server, as a result bringing all of the websites and email services on the server down.  I made a backup, then downloaded all the files.  I then uploaded the updated files, and ran the update command.  I then put extra security in place to prevent what happened before from happening again on their site.  This was something that was just uploaded to the server, and not something that I or Jamie had created from scratch.

6:30: I call up my aunt who was trying to get in touch with me.  She can’t turn on her computer, all she get is a solid orange light on her power button.  I have her unplug the power to the back of the machine, wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power back in.  What do you know, after she did this, she was able to press the button and the light turned green, the machine beeped, and windows started to load.  Problem resolved.

7:00: I am able to install the key code with no issues.

7:30: I call up the client who’s laptop I have, and they said the were about to come back over to the office for something else, so they would just drop by when they came over.

7:56: I get a call from the client they are here.  I get a call right back from the same client, the doors downstairs are locked, and they don’t have their key, I go downstairs, and let the client in.  We then go back upstairs, I go through the brief steps of how to use Rosetta Stone and we then pack up the laptop, and she heads on out.

8:15: I pack my stuff, rinse my cup out and the head on out myself.

8:20: I am in my van.

8:30: I am home. Tonight for super is Mrs. Cindy’s cooking.  My parent’s went over to her house, and pick up the food she prepared.  They had already gotten back home, and my mom went off with Mrs. Cindy to go out to eat, and my dad and wife were already home when I got home.  We put out our portions, warm them up, and then sit around the table eating the great food, salad, nice cheese linguini, smashed cauliflower covered with cheese and breadcrumbs.   The food was great.  We watch Everybody Loves Raymond while we eat!

9:30: I am done eating, I go to my computer and start doing some basic work.

10:00: I notice that my throat is starting to hurt me a little bit.  Not good 🙁

10:30: I am doing administrative work and billing for all the work I have done the past few days, so I can bill it all tomorrow, the end of the week.

11:35: I am done billing, and done my work for today.

11:45: I jump on my gaming for tonight.  Call of Duty 2 🙂

11:59: Still gaming!

default

Chemo Day #7 + 9

10/24/2012:

12:00: Still playing my Call of Duty 2 🙂

1:00: I am done playing for tonight!  Time to go to bed, I am pretty tired.  I see playing my game, makes my eyes a little more tired and easier to fall asleep.

11:00: I am up.  I let Buster out.  I check a few things on my computer, and send out a few emails.

11:40: I jump in the shower.

11:50: I jump out the shower.

12:00: I get in my van, and head on over to my office.

12:10: I get to my office.  I start reinstalling Rosetta Stone on the laptop I am working on.

12:20: I fix me a bowl of Chicken Flavored Ramen Noodles.  I fill up a bowl 1/4 with water and throw the block of Ramen Noodles in the bowl.  It barely covers the noodles half way.  I throw it in the microwave for 6 minutes.  I also mix myself a cup of my diet instant mix lipton iced tea.

12:30: My noodles are ready, I take them out the microwave and pour the chicken flavor from the packet on top of the noodles and stir them up and enjoy!

12:40: I finish up my noodles and hand wash the bowl and dry it, and put it up.

1:00: The Rosetta Stone is done installing, wow, only took 30 minutes.  I put the first language lesson cd into the computer and let it start loading.

1:15: I start working on a phone line for our handyman business.  We only have one way audio.  After making a number of changes on the hardware, even resetting it, I get another hardware device and plug it in, configure it and start making more test calls.

1:30: One of those days.  My emails are all messed up in my account.  I have not lost any emails, but I had like 30 email accounts listed in my favorites folder list, so I could see the inbox folder of all the accounts, and not have to sort through the folder list.  I resort all the folders, get everything set up like it was supposed to be, alot of small tedious things.

2:00: I put in the second language lesson cd.

3:00: I finally have 2 way audio again!  I am done working on the phone.

4:00: I update a few minor things on a website for a client, and also call up my partner on it.

4:15: I put the third language lesson cd in the laptop.

4:45: I finish editing the site I am working on.

5:00: I check on a few things.

5:30: Along with multitasking and taking care of multiple small things, I get the email straightened out as well.

5:45: I email my brother in law back, he is looking to get a website going for his boss, who wants to do an eCommerce website.  We email back and forth the details so I can determine how much is involved and what to charge.

6:41: I get a call from the laptop owner wondering the status of the laptop.  I tell them that it has become a project because of the malware and windows issues that were on the computer.  All of these issues has to be taken care of first before being able to install Rosetta Stone.

7:00: I put the fourth language lesson cd into the laptop.

7:15: Back to some admin working and checking on a few things in the office.

9:05: I get a call from a client who is having issues with quickbooks.  I help them with their quickbooks issue,  they also have multiple antivirus applications installed along with issues browsing the internet.  I take care of all these issues for them, and they are good to go.

10:20: I get off the phone with the client, and close the work order and ticket for helping them out.

10:45: I am done for tonight.  I do my closing duties and then head down to the car.

10:50: I jump in my van and head on home.

11:00: I get home.

11:05: I jump on my desktop, check a things, and then jump onto some Call of Duty 2 gaming.

default

Chemo Day #7 + 8

10/23/2012:

12:00: I start an hour of Call of Duty.  I get on a server I sometimes played on, and boy do I suck!  I guess its a combination of the Chemo, and not having played the game in over a year.  I dedicated my time completely to Hands Free Help to get projects going, and to work on some programming for the administrative side of the company.  I can’t hit anything, and am getting killed more than I am killing the first map or two.  My gameplay improves a little bit as I play, but not by much.

1:00: I am done playing for tonight.  Time for me to go get some sleep!

10:15: I get a call from a client that wakes me up.  She has some questions about not being able to log into her computer.  This is the new computer I setup last night, I figured that the updates reset the wireless network setting to always keep the wireless network adapter on and not put it to sleep to save power, so she doesn’t have a network connection and can’t sign on because the computer does not have access to the server.  I have her restart the computer and then she can log in with no issues.

11:15: Jamie calls me up and wake’s me up… Again…  He is heading to the office to pick up some paperwork that was delivered yesterday that he needs to do some business with today.  I tell him that I can meet him there, I just need to grab a quick shower.

11:20: I let buster out, and get my stuff for the shower, and then let him back in.

11:25: I jump in the shower.

11:35: I jump out the shower.

11:45: I am on my way to the office.

11:55: I get to the office, and Jamie is there.  We talk for a little bit about things that are happening and what he needs to go do today.

12:45: Jamie heads on out the office, and I get back to work.  Everything is going pretty smooth today.

1:00: I go across the hall and take care of a malware issue.  This malware takes up the full screen, claims have reported some information to the FBI, and wants you to pay them $200 to clean your computer so you won’t get in trouble.  I disable the processes, do a quick scan, manually remote the infected files, and then restart the computer with no issues.  I tell the user that everything is ready to go, and head back over to my office.

1:30: I am back on my computer working on a few things including the laptop that finally finished its full scan of the computer after over 11 hours of scanning.  That is way too long, there is something wrong with this laptop.  Time to check for driver updates, possibly a Storage Array Driver.    Sure enough there is one of those drivers available.  I install that.  The computer then seems to be running better.  I try to install the 10 updates that are waiting, and they keep failing.  I download a Fix It from Microsoft’s websites, and tell it to do the aggressive fix.  I then start reinstalling all Windows Vista Updates on the computer.

4:00: A client calls me up about a printing issue on their Adobe Photoshop.  It is a new install, and they were able to print from another program, just not adobe, I ask the client to reinstall Adobe, it could be an issue with the install.

5:00: Service Pack 2 for Vista, Lovely!

6:00: I email the client with the printing problem, and reinstalling didn’t fix a thing.  I will remote in later tonight and check the computer.

6:30: I catch up on some admin work while the final windows updates install.

7:15: I also start reformatting the old workstation that took the previous Friday when I put a new computer in.  All the data is off of the computer, so time to clean it up and prepare it to do a new function in a different part of the office.

8:00: The reinstall is done.  I need network drivers, I put a flash drive in my computer go to the Dell’s website, download the latest drivers, and then take the flash drive and put it in the other computer and install the network drivers.  I then install my remote software so that I can work on it remotely.

8:30: Back at my desk, installing updates on that computer I just reformatted.

9:00: A restart and more updates…

9:30: Plenty of updates while doing some admin work.

10:00: And more updates.

10:30: I have had enough here for today, time for me to head on home!

10:45: I get home.

11:00: I check on my remote computers, the laptop is almost done installing its round of updates, and the desktop.

11:15: I log onto another round of gaming tonight!  Call of Duty 2 again it is!

11:59: Still gaming!

Chemo Day #7 + 7

10/22/2012:

9:37: I get a a phone call from a client who is having issues sending emails.  I am half awake/half asleep and listen to the client explain the problem.  I tell the client I will log onto the server and take a look at the issue, and then when I am done with that I will connect to her computer and change her sent items folder to show who’s she sending to as the column instead of who is sending the emails, since all the emails are sent by her.

9:45: I get off the phone, and doze back off.

10:15: I get on the my desktop computer at home and remote into the server.  I see the issue and create and additional send connector for the domain they are having issues sending to because they don’t like the ISP being used as the relay server.

10:45: I call up the client, and have them send out a few more emails which they are able to do, I also change the column issue from the sender to the receiver so she can see who she actually sent the emails to, because she knows she is the one who sent them in the first place.

11:15: I jump into the shower.

11:25: I jump out the shower.

11:35: In my van heading to my office.

11:45: I get to my office.

12:00: A client comes over and brings a laptop that she needs a few things taken care of on it.  I also get a call from a client who’s Internet Explorer is freezing up, and emails are not coming in either  I do this support remotely.  She prefers to wait, so I do the virus scan, and remove some malware that is on it.  I also clean the registry and remove the temporary internet files.  The computer is running much faster once I am done.

1:30: My client leaves with her laptop all fixed.  I then work on finishing up the remote client’s computer by disabling add ons.  The scans came back clean.

2:00: I continue working on the remote machine I am fixing.

2:15: I call back the email client, and see if they are having any other issues.  She had an issue, but the outbox cleared out all of the emails.  The outbox probably backed up when I restarted the exchange server earlier when I was working on the send connectors.

2:30: I check on the linux virtual server, and it is running very well with not really any server load on it at all.

3:00: I am done with the remote computer.  I call him up, go over everything with him, and he is good to go!

3:30: I call up a client to check on how they are doing.  They happen to have an issue browsing the web.  Mozilla keeps freezing.  I have issues accessing the web using mozilla, internet explorer and google chrome, so its definitely a computer issue.  I do a complete clean of the computer, I remove over 10GB of files, 1100 registry issues, and remove a number of unneeded programs that came from a previous owner, as this is a new client I just got in June and I have never been able to do a complete clean of the computer.  After the complete clean the computer seems to be running much cleaner and the internet works again.

4:30: I get a call from a client who got their new computer today.  They already pulled it out the box and want to start loading the software on it and customizing it.  I tell them to go through the setup process with me on the phone, and install my remote client, and I will remote in and get them all setup, and then they can install their programs and their customize it the way they want tomorrow.

5:30: I get a call from a client who is having issues installing Rosetta Stone.  I tell the client to bring the computer over to my office, and I will take care of it.  She is right next door, so she walks over with the laptop and the software.  I go to work on the computer.  It takes forever, and I still can’t get it, she has to go back to work, and just leaves the laptop with me.

7:30: I go back on my computer and remote into the laptop, as I work on the other client’s desktop remotely.

9:00: I am just waiting for a scan to finish up on the remote client’s computer.  The Rosetta stone laptop has some bigger issues.  I see it best to completely clean the laptop before continuing any further trying to install Rosetta Stone on the computer.  I do a full clean, removing 5GB of unneeded files, and over 600 registry issues.  I then start a Malwarebytes scan on it, which goes by very very slow!

10:00 I leave the office, and head back home!  I have been here long enough today.

10:15: I get home.  I eat some red beans and rice, along with some cut up sausage end hot dogs.  The hot dogs was something different that my dad threw in this time, and what do you know, it came out really good!

10:45: I get on my desktop and continue watch the scan on the remote laptop go.  I finish the scan on the remote client and then remove unneeded software.  I then get Mozilla running again with no issues.  I finish up the new computer that I was installing the basic programs on and the normal initial setup along with quickbooks, printers, and shared drives.

11:59: Well what do you know, I think I am going to play some Call of Duty 2 for an hour and then go to bed.  You can see my hour of play at the top right hand corner of my blog 😛
