Chemo Day #7 + 6

10/21/2012:

12:30: I wake up.  My dad is watching the Saints Game.  I let Buster out, and sit and watch a little bit of the Saints game with him, but I must work on the server that I started working on last night.  I go lay back in my bed in my room and turn on the game in there.

1:15: I finish the customizations on the new server, only to find out that the beginning stages where not setup right and I have to small partitions instead of one large partition on the virtual hard drive.

3:30: Saints win!35-28 over Tampa Bay.

4:00: My mom made her good homemade tacos, by cooking some meat mixed with some pork, and adding the taco mix packets.  Tacos are always great, I eat them plain mostly because I don’t want to try the jalapenos or the tomato sauce because I am not sure how it will agree with my stomach.

5:00: I work a little bit more on my laptop in my room.

6:00: I decide I need to go clean off my desk and setup my 3rd monitor on my computer setup at the house.  When the radiation starts up, I am not sure if I will have the strength to be driving back and forth from work etc, so I will have my home setup the same way so I can try to work mostly remotely, by then my partner should be able to completely be back in the office with me and he can take on the work that needs to be done onsite for me while I am going through the radiation.

7:00: My wife get’s home asks a few questions on what I am setting up, and trying to learn how things work.

7:30: I have my 3 monitors setup.  I go back to finishing up the configuration of the server while working on a few other things.

9:00: I start to configure the settings for the new server and all the configurations.

11:30I am done the server setup.  I start to transfer settings from the server that is messing up to the new server.  I start doing more research on the server that keeps crashing too.

11:59: Still working on the servers, but I think I may be onto the reason the original server is crashing.

Chemo Day #7 + 5

10/20/2012:

11:30: I wake up to my dad saying he has pancakes made and they are nice and hot!  Who can resist pancakes?  I get up out of bed, let Buster out, and then fix me a few pancakes.  The LSU/Texas A&M game is on as well.  I have a few pancakes which also have bananas mixed in with the batter.

12:15: I am done eating.  I go lay in bed and watch the game while I get out my laptop and start downloading Centos.  I also shutdown the virtual server and transfer it over to another computer.

1:00: I start the virtual server up on the other computer and start it up on that computer.  It still has the same issues of crashing.

1:30: I start installing the new server OS.  I get all the way through, and start working on the customization.

3:30: A client calls me up with a few questions he has about the tutorial I wrote for him.  I go through the tutorial on the phone and explain that the tutorial is there to teach the basics, and he must take those basics and expand upon them to make it work for what he wants it to do.

4:30: I get back to the setup.

5:30: My parents get home, and throw the steaks that they have marinating in the fridge on the steak.  Mmm, that smell, steaks on the PIT, mouthwatering!

6:00: The steaks are served, along with some Mac & Cheese and Potatoes.  I have a sweet potato, with my nice juice, but well cooked steak.

7:00: Back in my room, laying on my bed.  On my laptop, with the TV on in the background.  Configuring the virtual server, and doing some research, while remoting into another computer to work on it.

9:00: Up for some more drink, my dad is in the back yard with a small fire in a fire pit that we had bought him a few Christmas’s ago.  Its a little chilli outside, but a great calm night for a fire.  I watch the fire for a little bit.

9:30: I head back inside to work on the server a little more, I am back on the old server trying to figure out why it is crashing, changing different settings here and there.

11:00: Always looking at a computer screen, blah oh well, the TV is a nice distraction for a little while too.

11:59: The problem is not resolved yet, but I can’t stay up all night and work on this, I have been up too long already.

Chemo Day #7 + 4

10/19/2012:

10:00: I wake up.  I got some work to do today!  I have to get to head over to the new Restaurant that I am going to be setting up their phone system and computer system.  I get up out of and let Buster out.

10:15: I jump in the shower.

10:25: I jump out of the shower.

10:35: I am in my van heading to the office.

10:45: I get to the office.

10:50: I load up the folding hand truck that we just got with the printer, cordless phone, 2 phones, and the Brother All In One Printer.

11:00: I go across the hall and check to see if they got the HP Color Printer that I ordered got delivered over there, and it did.  I tell them that I will be back to pick it up, after I make a trip down to my van with what I have on the hand truck now.  Down the elevator, to the van, and I move my ladder so I can fit the printer and the phones.  I then head back upstairs.

11:10: I load the color printer and the additional paper tray onto the cart, and make my way back down to my van again.

11:20: My van is now loaded with everything I need.  I go back upstairs and grab the checks that I need to deposit, and I am off on my way to the Restaurant.

11:30: I get to the Restaurant and park in the parking lot, I then walk next door to the bank that is just in front of it, and deposit the checks.

11:45: I unpack my van with the color printer and the try and make my way inside, to the office, and drop off the printers.  The place doesn’t have any floors down yet and is a dusty mess for the most part.  I go back to the van to get the other printer, and I take the Brother Printer along with the phones inside and put them in the office as well.  I head back out to my van, and I see my white foot prints all over the blacktopped parking lot from my last trip in and out, just to show how dusty the place is.  I put the hand truck up, and grab my tool bag and head inside to continue my work.

12:00: I punch down 4 pairs of running wires down a punch block for the 4 lined phone system.  I then wire up the line for the phone in the office and run that to the punch block and punch it down.  I see three wires running from another location, and go outside and check the lines coming in the building from AT&T, all 5 lines are there, they come back into the building somewhere.  I go back in the building somewhere and while I am searching the General Manager get’s back and is able to show me where the lines come into the building.  I need to run an additional Cat5e cable from the phone blocks into the the office and punch them down to the punch block that I just installed.  I get my box of cable and run the 35 feet of wire from one location to the other.  I have to remove one wire from the bundle and use it as a pull wire up and back down with the wire I want to feed down all electrical taped together.  I get that wire in place and punch it down on both ends, and then time to put the phones correctly on the jacks and wires.  The phone guy just punched them down in any order, I will punch them down in the correct order, feeding the lines correctly along with the fax and dsl feed.  I punch all that down on the DMark side and place the wires back on the phone jacks in the office.  I then make a number of test calls testing out the phone and the lines.  I then open up the laptop in the office and install the basic programs, like mozilla, and my remote software.

4:00: I am done here.  I pack up all my tools, and head on out to the van.  I put my tool bag up, and the box of cable, and get in my van and drive to check on my client who’s new computer screens were flickering.

4:20: I get to the client’s location, and the door is locked, I head back down stairs, grab my key to his office, and head back upstairs, I unlock the door, let myself in, and then lock the door behind me.  I first check on the computer in the conference room because that is the old computer, and I can’t access it.  I reboot it, and I can see it again.  My client then comes out of the office with a client of his.  I ask him how his computer screens were doing, he said since I remoted in on Monday when I was getting my Chemo and updated the drivers, the screens had stopped flickering and changing resolutions, so the driver update fixed that issue.  We talk about a few other things along with my health.

5:00: I head on out, and head back to my office.

5:15: I am back at my office and I go to work on a few things in the office, and then sit down and enter in all the things I did the week before for billing, and close out those request.

7:00: I head on out, time to head home.

7:10: I get home, nice going home late with no traffic.

7:15: I fix me a plate of Alligator Jambalaya that my dad had fixed with the extra Jambalaya that we had from the previous night that we did not Fry.  The Jambalaya is GOOD!

8:00: I am laying in my bed.  I start to go to to work on my Linux Server that is serving my client’s websites, databases, and emails.  For some reason it is crashing every three days.  I look at a number of different things.  I can’t figure out why it’s crashing.  Time to configure a new linux server most probably, doesn’t help that it’s a virtual server either.  I start doing some research on other servers, while watching TV.

11:59: Another day gone, still doing some research, but nothing more exciting here for today.

Chemo Day #7 + 3

10/18/2012:

1:00: I wake up.  Yes its 1PM. Blah. Oh well, I slept well!  I let Buster out, and get something to drink and start warming up my Chicken Sandwich from last night that my parents picked up.

1:30: I get a phone call from a client who’s email is down.  They need to send out emails ASAP!  I connected to the exchange server and restarted the exchange services.  Exchange came back up with no issues.  When looking into the issue further, I noticed that the free space on the drive was less than 5GB.  After further searching I found that the Log File for Client Profiles is over 65GB.  That is way to large for a log file, as the data file is only 150MB.  This must be corrected later tonight when Client Profiles can be taken offline for a period of time.

2:00: I finish eating my Chicken Sandwich.

2:15: I jump in the shower.

2:25: I jump out the shower.

2:35: My mom and I head on over to the Dr. Veith’s Office, my oncologist.

3:05: We find a parking spot in the garage.

3:10: I sign in at the front desk, pay my co-pay and sit down.

3:15: We are shown to the back.  I am gaining a little weight, I am 266, but I will work on that again once I am better.

3:20: The nurse goes over everything with me, takes my pressure.  I tell her that my abdomen had some pain last week, but other than that, I have been good.  She says takes the note, and then heads out while saying the doctor will be in shortly.

3:25: The doctor comes in and he checks on me.  We go through everything, he feels where the lumps were and don’t feel anything which is good, although he can’t feel the masses in my chest.  He then sits down and we go over the results of the Pet Scan.  Here is where the results of the Pet Scan really play a roll.  He is very pleased seeing the pet scans in the 2’s down from 10’s-14’s.  He said that the tumors and cancer cells are responding well to the chemo treatment and shrinking and decreasing activity.  My next chemo treatment is not this upcoming Monday, but the following Monday, that will be infusion 8, and the end of cycle 4.  The following next Wednesday, 9 days after the last infusion, will be my 3rd Pet Scan.  If the activity numbers come back less than 2, then we will stop the Chemo treatments and start up the Radiation Therapy for one month, which is 4 weeks, 5 days a week.  If the numbers are in the 2’s or risen at all, then we will complete the 6 cycles of chemo before starting the radiation, but with the way everything is looking now, chemo should be over after cycle 4.

3:45: We walk out of the patient room, and stop by the desk for my next appointment which will be January 17, 2012 at 2:10 PM.

3:55: We are back at the car.  My mom is going to drop me off at my office so I get get some work done while she goes to Rouses to get some groceries.

4:10: We are close to Causeway on West Esplanade and I realize that since I didn’t drive, I don’t have my keys to the office.  I can go home and just stay home and not worry about going to the office, but my mom insists on going to store closet to my office, so we head on home to pick up my keys.

4:25: We get to the house, I go inside, pick up my keys and come back outside.

4:40: She drops me off at the office.  I head on in while she heads to the store.  I pick up all the mail from the entire week, which is about 2 to 3 inches of mail, mostly payments and bills.  I go across the hall to check what packages have come in for me, and there are about 10 packages for my new office setup/install tomorrow at the new restaurant.

5:00: I sit down at my desk, and start entering in all the payments and the bills into the computer.

5:20: I unbox all the packages and enter the inventory into the computer.

5:30: I run into a client in the hallway who asks me if I am going to be in the office in the next 10 minutes because she has a payment to drop off to me, and she didn’t see me at all earlier in the week.  I told her that this was my Chemo week so usually don’t come into Thursday Evening/Friday.

5:40: The client drops the check off on her way out the door.

5:45: My mom calls me, she is outside, and ready for me to pick me up.  I put the checks in a money pouch and head downstairs.

5:50: I am in the car, and now heading home.

6:10: We get home after navigating around a wreck at Causeway and the UTurn by the UNO Jefferson Center.  My dad is outside cutting the grass, I tell him hello and update him on what the doctor said, and then help my mom bring the groceries in from the car.

6:30: My dad is done cutting the grass, and he comes in to do the cooking.  We are having thin fried catfish and fried alligator.  I watch him batter them, and fry them in two separate pans on the stove.

7:00: I eat the first round of fish that comes off, nice and hot, but good.

7:15: The first round of alligator comes off, and is yummy!

7:30: My wife gets home from work, and she doesn’t normally eat fish, but she likes the way the thin fried catfish came out, and alligator is always a winner.

8:00: Everything is done being fried, my dad sits down and eats a little with us.

8:45: I am done eating, I ate slowly and in pieces as stuff came off the stove.  I help clean the table, then head to bed.

9:00: I am laying in bed, on my laptop, with the TV on in the background.

9:30: I start working on the client’s server who has the extremely large log file.  I make sure there is an existing back up, which there is which was automatically done at 9:00 on schedule.  There are other minor issues that need to be corrected as I dive into it.

11:30: I am done with that server.  I am also working on another client’s backup to his old computer from his new computer.  I have most of it setup already, I just need to fine tune it, which I do.

11:50: Another day gone….  I am tired too, I doze off on the computer 😛

Chemo Day #7 + 2

10/17/2012:

10:36: I get a call from a client wanting to know about issues he is getting when trying to search using yahoo.  He has to use the yahoo toolbar to search and can’t use the yahoo search box on the page.  I ask him a few questions about how he is doing, and tell him that I can call him back later to look at it more closely as I am half out of it and tired.

10:44: I get a call from a client who is having issues installing Rosetta Stone.  She has tried multiple things and has tried to have someone else install it for her and have had no luck installing it either.  I tell her that I won’t be back into the office until sometime Thursday evening or Friday, as I just had Chemo Monday and still feeling the effects of the last treatment.

10:50: I doze back off to sleep…

2:47: Jamie calls me to see what I am doing later in the evening has he has a few business questions and plans that he wants to run by me and have me see in person what he is talking about.  I tell him I should be ok by then, but to call me back before he plans on heading out as he just woke me up, and I still have to eat and do a few things to see how I feel and my energy level is.

3:00: I get a call from a client who needs to run payroll, but is having issues opening up Quickbooks.  The issue is that on the newest computer that I just installed on Friday, I installed Quickbooks, and applied the latest updates, however the server and the other computers did not have the R16 update.  I logged into the server and applied the R16 update, and then I logged into the two computers and applied the R16 update.  Once this was done, all the users were able to work on the Quickbooks file at the same time again.

3:30: I warm up some pizza in the oven that was in the freezer in the backroom.  My parents come home and they want some pizza as well, so I throw a second pizza into the oven after I take the first one out.  The pizza are great!  The first one was a garlic bread deluxe pizza, and the second was a meat trio panned pizza.

4:45: I am back in my room, laying on my bed, working on a few things on the computer, my dad comes in and watches the Mentalist that I have playing on the TV while I am on the computer.

5:52: Jamie calls me and see’s how I am doing, and see if I want to head out with him.  I am tell him sure!  I just need to get my shower and then I will meet up with him.  He is heading in from Chalmette so that gives me some time as well.

6:00: I jump in the shower.

6:10: I jump out of the shower.

6:20: I am heading out the door, my dad is just going to drop me off in the Quarter near the French Market.

6:45: I get to the spot, my dad drops me off, and I greet Jamie and company at the table.  They are drinking a few beers, but I don’t drink, and since I just ate not too long ago, I am still good in that department as well.  I just sit down and catch up with them.  We talk about a few minor business possibilities before getting up and heading on to our next stop.

7:30: We zigzag to Royal and head down a few blocks.

7:40: We stop at an Irish pub, they grab their 3 for 1 beers, and then we head on over to the pool table.  I am doing good, getting out and walking is a good thing, but I also need to rest.  I sit on a table near the pool table, and they take up their games of pool each playing a 2 rounds against each other.  We discuss a few more things while here before heading out to our next stop.

8:15: We are headed down Bourbon and go into the Bourbon Street Blues Company.  I recall that I just DJ’s a frat party here last February/March.  I take a seat and we listen to a few songs by a band that is playing.  They are a cover band, so its all good.  We discuss a few more things and then talk a little about the sound and lighting in the bar.  Its just a common thing for me to do since I am in the music industry myself.

8:45: We pull out of the bar and head across the street to the Funky 544 club on Bourbon.  We head upstairs because that’s where there 3 for 1 special is.  We comment a little about the setup and what’s on TV, but don’t stay for too long.

9:05: We are heading out.  My parents went to grab a bite to eat, and they are going to be my ride out of the Quarter.  I call them up and they are finishing up at Chilli’s and are going to head to the Canal and Bourbon to pick me up.  We head towards Canal St. and swing into The Beach club to check out what they got going on.

9:15: We are heading back down Bourbon towards Canal.  Joel peels off, and Jamie and Bob stick around to talk a little more while we wait.

9:45: I get the call that they are just turning off of the Interstate onto Carondelet, I tell Jamie and Bob I’ll catch them later, and they head back down Bourbon as they are parked on Frenchman Street which is on the complete opposite side of the Quarter/Bourbon…

9:55: I wait by the streetcar stop for about 3 minutes.  A bus pulls up and unloads its load of people.  Usually the streetcars are running, but since the Super Bowl is here this year, they are redoing a lot of the streets and the street car tracks in preparation for the Super Bowl, so buses are running the route instead.  I see the car 2 cars behind the bus, and walk to it and jump in.

10:05: We are back on the Interstate heading home, I am thirsty, I didn’t drink anything all night, for a number of reasons…

10:20: We are just a block from the house and stop by CVS to pick up some drinks.  My mom grabs me 2 bottled sprites that are nice and cold, and 3 12 packs of Sprite for the house.

10:30: We are at the house, 1 Sprite bottle gone.

10:40: They got me a grilled chicken sandwich, but I am still feeling the Pizza from earlier, so I save it for tomorrow.

11:00: I am laying in bed checking on a few things on my laptop, and the TV is back on.

11:59: Another day gone, I am a little tired, and slowly doze off…

Chemo Day #7 + 1

10/16/2012:

1:00: I am just waking up, yes its 1 PM.  The chemo just seems to become more cumulative.  My legs are heavy, I am tired, I barely can get up to let Buster out and get to the bathroom myself to get rid of more fluids from all the chemo through the IV and the fluids I have been drinking.  Ugh,  I don’t feel but maybe 55%, easier to stay laying in bed….

1:30: I make it back to bed, just laying down, I turn on the TV, struggle with my laptop, and just relax, and start working on a few things remotely.

3:30: My dad gets home.  We are going to head out around 5:00, to head uptown to install a computer for a client, but I am not driving, I am basically just doing the knowledge side and I am letting my dad do the driving and the heavy lifting/setup.

5:00: My dad and I head out.

5:20: We get to the doctor’s office uptown.  The doctor is subleasing an office to gentleman who is associating lawyers with doctors so that they can network and have a connection.  I meet the gentleman who is doing the networking, and quickly go over everything I am doing, and what he can expect to see when he comes in in the morning.  My dad unpacks all the boxes.  I tell him to unpack the computer while I screw the switch into the rack.  I put the router on top of the switch, plug in the wires, and then go back to the office my dad is setting up the all in one computer in.  I help him hook up the wires, I then install Office 2010.  I call up the Tech I am doing the remote work for to update him that the phone is not coming online, but the network is up and the computer is online, and everything else is ready to go.  He informs me that the phone is probably not provisioned yet, and nothing to worry about that, he can resolve that in the morning.

7:30: My dad and I head out, and head back home.

8:00: We get home.  My dad throws some chicken on the BBQ pit, and we have BBQ/Grilled Chicken Sandwiches for supper, very good!

9:30: I go and lay back in bed, and get on my computer, and turn on the TV.

10:00: I doze off….

11:30: I wake up, I do a few more things on the computer, and then doze back off…

11:59: In lala land…..

Chemo Day #7: ~~~~ 5 More to Go

10/15/2012:

2:50 Today is my next chemo day.  I was just catching up on my blog, but time for me to got o sleep, I’ll update ya’ll on the events of another round of chemo when I wake up 🙂  Night!

8:49: I am waken up by a phone call from a client. Their monitor is not working. I ask them to unplug the power from the monitor and plug it back in. They do that and the monitor comes back on. They then have an issue with windows. The computer is in startup repair mode saying that it did not boot properly. I tell her to click cancel. She does and then gets tired of waiting and wants to just power off the computer and turn it back on. I tell her this could make the computer be worse off, she should just let it finish on its own. She doesn’t want to wait, so I tell het she can just power it down by holding yhr power button for 10 seconds and turn it back on and hopefully it comes back up with no issues. Luckily it does come back up
without any problems and she is able to log back in.

9:10: I lay in bed trying to doze back off.

9:30: My phones google talk goes off and it is my business partner trying to setup his new emails on the new domain we purchased. He is having issues setting it up. I had issues the previous day and now decided I should turn on SSL on the server. I remote into the server, edit the configuration file, and then restart the smtp protocol. I then set it up on my phone with the new settings to test it out and it works. I test it out on a second app and it works too with just a minor alteration in the settings. I take some screen shots of the setup and text them to him.

10:00: I am up, there is no going back to sleep now. I let Buster outside and sit in the lazy boy while I continue to google talk with Jamie.

10:10: I let Buster back in while still sitting in the lazy boy start answering emails that come in, and send out emails checking on the status of the new computers that I installed last week.

10:45: I start getting everything together to get my shower along with what I need to prepare for my chemo treatment.

11:10: I shave my face and my head. I can’t wait to use my real razor again and just do it all at once in the shower withess cleanup, but this electric razor ain’t that bad.

11:20: I am done shaving, and pick up my phone to answer a few more emails.

11:40: I jump in the shower.

11:50: I jump out the shower.

12:00: I fix myself something to eat, a pumpkin spice doughnut and an apple filled doughnut.

12:15: I put on my lidocaine cream over the spot of my port and out some saran wrap on top of the cream and put my shirt on.

12:25: I take my ativan pill.

12:30: I brush my teeth, and my uncle Frank is knocking at the door. I go answer it and then go back and wash my mouth out with some ACT mouthwash without alcohol so I don’t dry my mouth out. I then out Buster in his cage and head out the door and lock up.

12:35: I jump in Uncle Frank’s truck.

12:45: We get to the Yenni Treatment Center. I go inside and checkin.

12:50: I am upstairs waiting in the waiting room.

1:07: I am called from the waiting room to the infusion room, and sit and wait in a waiting chair.

1:15: They take my vitals 123/84 blood pressure.

1:20: I am sitting in my chair.

1:40: They stick me, ouch, that hurt!  Oh the pain I could do without.  The mental side is starting to take over and having that nausea feeling and just feeling weak, blah.

2:00: They hook up my premeds and start pumping them into me.  Not fun…

2:45: My mom shows up, and talks to me for a little bit then hangs around.

3:00: The Adriamycin is starting to be pumped into me.  Blah…

3:20: They flush the line.

3:10: They hook up my Bleomucin and start pumping that into me.

3:30: My dad shows up, and my mom heads home.

3:40: They flush the line.

3:55: They push  the Vinblastine out of the syringe.

4:05: They flush the line.

4:15: They hook up my Dacarbazine and start pumping that into me.

4:50: The Dacarbazine is done, they are now just flushing me with saline.

5:20: They turn off the pump, and unhook me, and then take the adhesive bandage off that is holding the need in my port, and then pull it out.

5:25: I make my appointment for 2 weeks at 1PM for my next infusion.

5:30: My dad and I head on home.

5:45: We get home.

5:50: I eat a grilled chicken wrap from Wendy’s and a grilled chicken sandwich from Wendy’s.

6:30: I am laying in bed, and crash hard.

11:00: I wake up, get out of bed to go to the bathroom to get rid of all those fluids pumped into me.  I am very weak, my legs are heavy and I am just tired.  I let Buster out, and then we both go back to bed.

11:59: ZzZzZz. I am sleeping again.  I am out of it.

Chemo Day #6 + 13

10/14/2012:

11:45: I get up out of bed and let Buster out.

12:00: I jump in the shower 😛

12:10: I jump out the shower.

12:20: My dad is cooking sausage, hot dogs, and burgers on the BBQ pit outside.  My Aunt Estella and Uncle Victor are coming over for lunch.

1:00: My Aunt Estella and Uncle Victor arrive and my dad is just taking the food off the bit.

1:15: We are all sitting around the table.  I have a burger, a hot dog, pick at the sausage, and eat some of the homemade coleslaw that my Aunt Estella had made and brought over.

2:15: We are done eating, and they are interested in laptops.  I pull out my Dell Mini, but tell them it is probably too small for practical use for the browsing they want to use it for because of the size of the screen, and the size of the text, my mom shows them her laptop, which they see is much easier to read and handle.  We talk a little bit about it, and then I go by my computer in the front.

3:00: I am just tired of sitting up, so I go lay in my room, and on my laptop, with the TV on.

3:30: I do some website programming for something I am working on for the business.

6:00: I catch up on some administrative work and billing.

7:00: I doze off for a little bit.

10:00: I wake up and finish the billing I was working on before I dozed off.

11:59: I am done working for today and dozing off……. ZzZzZzZz…….

Chemo Day #6 + 12

10/13/2012:

11:30: I wake up and let Buster out and relax around the house for a little bit, but I have work to do at the office.  I have to finish up the Desktop for the client because I have Chemo on Monday and will be limited on what work I can do.

1:00: I jump in the shower.

1:10: I jump out the shower.

1:20: I jump in my van and head on over to my office.

1:30: I get to my office.

1:40: I start to order a number of items that I need for the upcoming week for a new location that a client of mine is turning up next week.

3:00: All my items are ordered and double checked and now I just need to wait to they come in so I can complete that project.

3:45: I jump back onto the computer I was working on remotely and test everything out to make sure everything works.  Everything is fine and good to go!

5:00: I do some cleaning up around the office.  I have been working a lot lately and have been neglecting the office cleanliness.  Oh well, bringing money in is more important that my office being clean at this point in time.  As long as I am working and watching my health and getting better, that’s all that counts, I can always clean up later!

7:00: After doing some cleaning, throwing out boxes and basic cleaning, but nearly not enough, I go back by the computer and start doing some administrative work.

11:00: Oh well enough work for today done, time to head back home.

11:10: I am in my van.

11:20: I am home.

11:30: I snack on a few things.

11:40: I am laying in bed, watching TV, and of course back on my computer!

11:59: Another night gone!

Chemo Day #6 + 11

10/12/2012:

1:00: I wake up and go to work.  Yes it’s 1AM.  I have to finish transferring all the documents, settings, and programs to my client’s computer before the morning.  I install Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise Edition and remove it off of his old computer.  I then transfer his documents, pictures, emails, music, etc from his old computer to his new computer.  I then install Quickbooks and test opening the quickbooks folder.  I have everything prepped and ready for him to open in the morning.  I also setup the backup using the old computer as the target destination and using the powersync toy to transfer updated files to the second hard drive of the old computer which was originally being used as the back up drive.

5:00: I am done and going to bed…..

10:50: I get an email from a client that is unable to send emails to a client of hers.  I call her up and connect to her computer. I see that they are trying to transfer 30MB of pictures.  I download and install the picture resizer tool a XP Power Toy, and show her how to use it to resize the pictures, all the pictures come out to be .5MB and are emailed with no issues.

11:30: I get an email from the client who’s computer I worked on last night with some issues using the scanner and other minor program compatibility issues.  I first work on the scanner, and it takes me about 2 hours to figure out how to get the scanner working.  Instead of a simple download from Fujitsu, they want you to download a file, and then apply updates to the file to you finally get the scanner working instead of regular drivers that just give you the latest updated driver so it just works.  I also check a few other issues, I can’t resolve them all, but I do take care of a few of them.

1:45: I jump into the shower.

1:55: I jump out of the shower.

2:15: I arrive at another client’s office and start setting up a new computer.  I setup the basic settings, and my remote software and take the old computer back with me to the office so that I can work on the computer remotely.

3:15: I head on out with the old computer that we are updating from, and another old computer that can possibly be used for another service they have in mind.

3:35: I get back to my office, and put the old computer on the work bench, plug it in, turn it on, and provide it with a network connection so that I can transfer files from it to the new computer at the client’s office.  I also go to work gathering the Office 2007 product key information to install on the new computer and transfer everything to their server for transferring to the computer later.  I get Office installed, along with Quickbooks, the shared printers, antivirus, adding the computer to the domain, and the basic setup for the computer.

5:30: I get a call from another client who has been wanting me to look at their computer for 2 weeks now.  I remote in, and start troubleshooting with the client.  It seems that malware has been installed on the computer, and there is also a corruption issue that Vista can’t fix itself, but we can work around.  After about an hour on the phone, I tell the client I will call them back once I am done completely repairing the computer.  I clean the computer, then apply some microsoft fix applications, and remove the second antivirus that the client had added by accident.  Part of the problem on this computer was that two antivirus programs were fighting each other.

8:30: I finish up with that laptop remotely, and go back to doing some finishing touches on the other computer and doing a final search for any files to backup to the client’s server before I reformat the machine to for it to be put to use elsewhere at their office.

10:00: I finish up my work and head on home.

10:10: In the van.

10:20: I am home.

10:30: I eat some Indian food 🙂 YUMMY.

11:15: I am laying in bed on my computer checking on things and finishing up some additional work.

11:59: Another day done, but I am still working…

Chemo Day #6 + 10

10/11/2012:

8:05: I get a email from the client saying that I am helping with the IT for the new restaurant that they are opening that they needed the computers like yesterday, the ones that I was configuring for them online on the Dell website for them to order.  He stated that the original timeline was changed because they are moving faster than anticipated.  I email the client back telling them that I have bloodwork and a doctor’s appointment to do today, and that I will send him all the information that I have prepared for him as soon as I get back to the office after that.

9:00: I get up out of bed, I let Buster out, I eat a Pop Tart because lately my stomach has started hurting me for no reason.  The pain is like a cramp and shooting pain.  The pains started Monday, but they don’t last all day, just little 20 minutes here and there.  I have been trying to eat something for breakfast to see if that relieves the symptom, and I think it does, but I need to monitor that more closely.

9:20: I shave my face and my head.

9:27: My client calls me the one who emailed me earlier.  I asked them if they got my email, and he said that he hadn’t checked it since he emailed me.  I explain him everything in the email, and let him know I will probably get everything installed by next Thursday, Friday, or the weekend at the latest.  I have chemo on Monday, and will be out of commission for the most part for Monday through Wednesday.  I tell him that I will email him all the information when I get back form the medical stuff I have to do, and he says that will work, and if he is available he will come right over to review the estimates with me.

9:40: I jump in the shower.

9:50: I jump out of the shower.

10:00: I get ready to leave, and take a call from a tech trying to find someone to do some phone work for him as he has been busy all week and cannot get to a client before the end of the week, and looking to sub the work out.  We talk for a little bit, and if it wasn’t last minute, I would be able to do it, but with the doctor’s appointment, the bloodwork, and the other outstanding work that I have to do, I will most probably have to pass, but will call him back on it later.

10:30: I leave the house and head over to the hospital.

10:40: I get to the hospital, I am driving behind this person who stops at every person walking through the parking garage to see if they are about to leave so that they can take their spot.  There is no way to get around this person, I waste at least 10 minutes in the garage behind this person, only to pull around this person and take a parking spot right next to where they park.

10:55: I get out the car and walk to my doctor’s office.

11:00: I get to Dr. Jacob’s Office, and am seated by myself in the hallway so that I am not around anyone who may be sick.

11:15: I am seated in Patient room 4, and my blood pressure is taken.

11:25: Dr. Jacob walks in, and we talk, I brought him a copy of my Pet Scan, and he is very pleased with the results of this pet scan compared to the results of the first pet scan.  He also likes my up beat outlook and attitude.  He examines me and doesn’t feel or see anything out of the ordinary.

11:35: I walk to the receptionist to make my next appointment for 4 more weeks right after my next pet scan.

11:40: I make my next appointment for November 8th, at 3:30 which will be after my 2:00 appointment with the radiologist oncologist.  I pay my Co-Pay and head on out.

11:45: I get to my van, and head on over to Quest Diagnostics.

11:55: I get to Quest Diagnostics by Tulane Lakeside Hospital.

11:58: I sign in.

12:00: I sit in the waiting room, and wait….

12:15: and wait…

12:30: and wait….  I went ahead and signed up up my phone for the app for Quest Diagnostics so that I could get my test results sent to my phone and email as they came in.

12:40: I am finally called to the back.

12:45: The nurse sticks my arm with no problems.  She fills the two vials of blood, tapes my arm, and I am out the door.

12:53: I am back in my van.

1:10: I swing my McDonalds and pick up two McDoubles.

1:20: I am back at the office, and enjoying my McDoubles along with some instant mix Lipton Iced Tea.

1:30: I finish up eating, and put together the finishing touches on the phone system, researching a cheaper phone system that is not a VOIP but a simpler phone system that I have seen at client’s offices.

3:00: I send the estimates along with the dell cart to the client for them to review and order the computers and let me know to order the other items in the estimate if they are approved.

3:10: I get a call from the client’s across the hall, their internet is up and down, their server is down, and their phones have been up and down.

3:30: I go across the hall and start working on the issue.  I first looked at the server and the switch and the router.  I found that the server was completely shut down.  I removed the power from the server and plugged it back in and did a full boot on the server.  I also rebooted the router and the network switch.  The phones came back up with no issues.  The computers would not connect back to the shared drives.  The server came back up, but some of the services didn’t start up properly.  I started the services that did not start and they were able to access the shared drives again and use the computers.

4:30: I am back across the hall, and pack up and head out to a my client’s office who has the big Dell box sitting in their office that they want installed.

4:41: I get an email that the estimates were approved and I should order everything and get everything in to install it.

4:50: I get in my van an head on over to the client’s office.

6:05: I get to the client’s office and head up the elevator.

6:10: I get in the office, catch up on things with the client, and then prepare the old computer to move to another location in the office to be use.

6:30: I move the old computer into the other room and hook it up.

6:40: I put the new computer in its spot under the desk and hook it all back up.

6:50: I get the new computer powered on, remove all the trash software, install my remote software and change the power settings so that I have remote access to it.

7:15: My client and I are heading out the door, I can take care of the rest of this configuration from home.

7:30: I eat some wheat pasta and meatballs that my second grade teacher prepared for me, along with some cheesy cauliflower.

8:15: I am laying in bed, stuffed, that was good.  I don’t even really start working on the computer anymore, I will take a nap before I start work.

8:30: I am sleeping.

11:59: I am still sleeping! ZzZzZzZzZzZz…….

Chemo Day #6 + 9

10/10/2012:

7:49: I get an email from a client that briefly wakes me up, the message in the email?  “I have this big box in my office from Dell.  Need something to do???”  I doze right back off.

9:49: I get a call from an 800 number, it wakes me up, it just another potential vendor, I don’t answer 800 numbers or out of the area code calls unless I know who is calling.  I am tired of listening to sales pitch and wasting time trying to tell them I am not interested and then have to just get ugly with them to get them off the phone and let them know I am really not interested, so I simply don’t answer these calls.  On top of that I make a note of the numbers that keep calling and then log into my phone account and block them.  I can block up to 50 people, and never have to listen to them call again because the call never connects.

9:56: Another call from from another out of the area 316 area code.  I simply don’t answer this call either, but it is time to get up and get out of bed.

10:00: I let Buster out, and let him back in, and then feed him some hard food of a low fat Science Diet that we have.

10:10: I shave my head and my face.

10:15: My business partner calls and we have a lengthy conversation about a few things coming up and a new domain that has to be purchased and setup.  He runs his ideas by me for me to think about and counter and come up with positives, negatives etc, what I do best.

10:45: I jump into the shower.

10:55: I jump out of the shower.

11:02: I get an email from another client saying that their new computer has also come in, and they need me to set it up, preferably on Friday since they will be out of the office on Friday.

11:05: I get in my van and head to the office.

11:15: I get to the office.  I start working on a project for my business partner, buying a new domain name, and setting up the email and the web hosting on our web server for the new domain.

12:00: I start working on an estimate for a new restaurant.  Doing some research for the printers they need and the computers they need along with the phone system that they will need.

2:15: I get a call from a client about keys being stuck on a keyboard after dropping some soft drinks in it.  I tell them just throw the keyboards away, its not work taking apart and cleaning.

2:45: My business partner calls me telling me that he is about to be on his way over to the office.

3:25: A client calls me up about some error messages she was getting on her home computer.  She asks me to look at it today, as she got paid today and she can pay me right away and wants the computer fixed.  I remote into her house computer and start working on it.  First I remove all Dot Net installs and reinstall all Windows Updates including the Dot Net updates.  I also do a DirectX update since I am working on an issue with Media Center as well saying that it is missing files and not able to run.  I restart the computer a number of times and everything seems to be working after reinstalling updates.

4:08: My business partner calls me telling me that he is now headed over to the office.

4:30: I am mostly finished with the computer, I am just running some virus scans to make sure that if there was any malware causing the issue.

4:35: My partner gets to the office.  We go over a few things on the website I created with the domain he gave me and the email setup, fine tuning a few things, before we head out to go pick up his Saturn from the mechanic.

5:20: We head out to the mechanic.

5:50: We get to the mechanic.

6:00: We leave the mechanic, Jamie drives directly back to Chalmette, and I drive his sister’s car back to the office.

6:30: I get back to the office.  I fine tune a few things on the site, and then tell Jamie it’s ready for him to show to his guy.

7:00: My dad comes over and helps me move a few partition peaces from another suite into my office suite.  The other office suite is planning on being vacated by the end of the year, and they are slowly going to disassemble all of the modular cubicles partitions.  Since we have a few things planned, and free is cheaper than having to buy furniture in the future, we are just going to take the cubicles and store them till we can use them.  We make a few trips back and forth, and then call it a night.

8:30: We are done lock up and head downstairs.

8:40: We get into our cars and drive back home.

8:50: We are home.

9:00: I eat, and I am exhausted.

9:30: I am out sleeping……

11:59: Still sleeping…..

Chemo Day #6 + 8

10/09/2012:

9:30: I am up, I let Buster out and back in, open up the last can of his canned low fat food, give him half, and then off to shave.

9:55: My business partner wakes me up with a phone call.  He needs my help dropping off his Saturn VUE at the mechanic so that he can get his rotors replaced.

10:10: I jump in the shower.

10:20: I jump out of the shower.

10:30: I am heading out the house and over to the office.

10:40: I get to the office, and Jamie and his friend Bob are there.  We talk for a little bit and decide to head out.

11:00: I get in Jamie’s Sister’s Car and drive it to the mechanic shop.

11:30: I get to the mechanic shop located on Jefferson Highway right off of Williams, only after doing a little driving up and down Jefferson Highway because the mechanic shop’s sign is set back off of the road and the sign is hidden by trees.

11:40: We leave the mechanic shop and head back to the office.

12:00: We get back to the office, and go upstairs and talk some more.

12:20: We decide to go grab a bite to eat.

12:25: We are back in Jamie’s sister’s car.  We head on over to Lager’s on Veterans because of their great burgers.

12:35: We are at Lagers, and surprisingly there is a place to park.

12:40: We are seated inside.

12:45: Our waitress takes our order, I am getting the Lager’s Burger with the vegetable skewer.  We talk business, about Hands Free Help and other ventures we got coming up.

1:00: We get our food, delicious burgers as always!!!

1:30: We head on out, and back into the car.

1:45: Jamie drops me off at the office, and they head downtown to take care of some more business.

2:00: I go upstairs to my office and start to work on the finishing touches of a project that I was working on for a client.  I have been trying to figure out this tutorial that he received for mailing list.  The only issues they were very general in their instructions and very vague at some points, I had to repeat some steps several times before figuring out exactly what they wanted us to do.  As I figured out the proper steps, I would write down what I did.  Now that I have figured everything out, I went back to step 1 and repeated the entire tutorial, this time writing my own tutorial that is very precises step by step so that my client could more easily follow the steps and create the final solution that the tutorial is trying to teach him how to create and use.

4:30: I finish up the 3 page tutorial, and email it to my client.  I then head downstairs to follow up with a client who sent me an email about their computer being infected with a virus.

4:45: I start the various troubleshooting on the computer which doesn’t do anything because the virus is stopping all programs from being able to run.  I then boot into safemode.  I then run a cleaner program to get rid of the temporary internet files and other older and temp files on the computer.  It removes over 12GB of files.  I then run a program to do a different level of scanning.  That finds a few issues and deletes those issues.  I then boot back into regular mode and it boots.  I then change the settings back to regular mode, and check a few things.  I start one more scan and will check up on it from my office.

6:45: I turn off the lights, and lock the door and head back upstairs to my office.

7:00: I am back at my desk.  I continue watching the scan on the computer, and catch up on a few administrative tasks.

8:00: I finish up working on the computer by completing the final scan, and removing a few items that was found by it, and then starting the antivirus  software on the computer to do a final scan.

8:30: I head on home.

8:40: I get home, eat, and then I lay on my bed and continue working on a few things.

10:00: I doze off here and there and wake up do a few things and doze back off.

11:59: Another day gone, dozing in and out here at the end…

Chemo Day #6 + 7

10/08/2012:

10:00: I am up, and there is no going back to sleep.  I get up out of Bed, let Buster out, and get my stuff ready for my shower.

10:10: My parents are in the den watching TV, they are off today…

10:15: I jump in the shower.

10:25: I jump out the shower, so fresh and clean 😛

10:30: I feed Buster.

10:40: I brush my teeth and head out because I have to finish up a client’s desktop computer at the office.

10:50: I am in my van, heading to the office.

11:00: I get to the office and get to work checking on that Desktop and returning a phone call to that client.  I do a few more things with the desktop searching for a particular document the client is interested in.  There are multiple accounts on the computer and the documents she was looking for were not on the main account.  I go through the document and let her know what I am seeing, and that is exactly what she was looking for because she was unable to user her computer for the past few months because of the corrupted registry issue and no programs launching but the web browsers.

12:00: The client calls back a few times wanting Office 2010 Professional installed on the desktop too.  I also suggest adding RAM to the computer to max it out since it only has 512MB of ram.

1:00: I get an email from a client about their digital recordings on their phone system not being transferred to their file server.

2:28: I get a phone call from a client about their email acting up.  I remote into their computer, make a few changes to the settings and also change a setting on the server that the are connecting to for their email.  I then uninstall Norton Internet Security because it is a resource hog, and the computer is only a P4 running at 3Ghz and only on 1GB of ram, so it doesn’t need such a heavy virus scanner.  I also do a cleaning of the registry and remove old and unneeded files.  I then download and install Microsoft Security Essentials which is free for the home user and free up to 10 computers for business users.  Once we get all that taken care of, the computer is running smoother and much quicker and the emails are flowing back and forth with no problems.

3:30:  I do some admin work to catch up from the weekend.

4:12: I get an email from a client who needs a invoice emailed to her because she can’t find it in her email.  I search my emails and simply forward her the invoice for her records.  We email back and forth on my progress with everything.

4:45: Back to admin work and looking things up for some another project I got coming up.

6:17: My business partner calls me and lets me know what his events have been for the day.  They sound promising on a few things has working on his end.  I’ll catch you up later on all that as things actually start happening with those ventures we have planned.

7:30: I have had enough fun for today at the office, time for me to head on home.

7:40: I get in my van to head home.  I find out the hard way that I need some transmission fluid.  I take the U-Turn on Causeway by UNO pretty fast since there is no traffic at all, and when I come out of the hard turn, I have no acceleration, sure the engine revs up, but it just doesn’t kick into gear.  I let it coast till I get close to the redlight by 17th street at which time I slowly make my way over to the side of the road and before I get there, enough transmission fluid has accumulated in the bottom again due to gravity that I have acceleration again can pick up speed without the van just revving up.  I’ll have to add some transmission fluid tomorrow morning or soon to resolve this issue.

7:50: I am home, 10 minutes or less as usual.

8:00: My dad is trying to get the printer to turn on.  It is plugged in, but won’t come on.  He has tried a number of things, I finally pull the desk out and unplug the ac/dc transformer and plug it back in, the printer comes right on.  I have seen this sometimes, it could be a safety thing, that an ac/dc transformer will stop providing power until it is reset by unplugging it and plugging it back in.  Just like everything else electronical, if you are having issues with something, restart/reset it by completely removing the power from the device and adding it back, if you do this a few times and the problem isn’t resolved, then you have a bigger issue.

8:15: I eat some spaghetti with the sausage and red tomato meat sauce leftover from Saturday night with some meatballs added to the mixture.  I catch my family up on the what my business partner and I talked about and whats coming up in the future as I get better.

9:00: I go lay in bed, get on my computer, and turn on Monday Night Football while catching up on my blog and a few things from today at work.

10:30: I get up and feed Buster, and let him outside, and then back to laying in bed, yup still on my laptop.

11:59: Another day gone, always work to do…

Chemo Day #6 + 6

10/07/2012:

10:50: I am up and about.  It is in the 60’s outside, very nice, my parents have the side door open with the back door to let the cold air in and minimize the AC usage.

11:20: My dad is cooking up steaks.

11:40: The steaks are done and ready to serve, we start eating.

11:50: My business partner calls me from the office, his breaks are shot and he is waiting for his parents to bring down his sister’s car for him to borrow for the week.  His cousin is coming to pick him up and they are going to go off for a little bit while he waits on the spare car.

12:45: I finish up my meal, and get ready to head on over to the office.

12:55: I head on out.

1:05: I get to the office.

1:10: I go upstairs and start working on a few administrative things while I wait for Jamie to show back up.

1:45: Jamie gets back to the office with his cousin, and we talk a little bit.

2:00: Jamie’s parents and nephew show up with the car.

3:00: Everyone heads on out after talking for a little bit.  I go upstairs and start cleaning up a little bit.

4:00: All the boxes from the last project I worked on, plus 3 old printers that I had in parts waiting for recycling, an old monitor, and a 2 empty computer cases all go into the dumpster.  I have a few things coming up very soon that I need the space to store things being given to us for free that we will need to use in the next 4 months, so why buy it later when I can temporarily store it for now.

5:00: I start looking for Jamie’s old motherboard, his computer’s power supply failed and its a special sized one, not the normal top rear mounted power supply, so it will be easier just to stand up his other one.  Before I got sick, I went through all the spare computers that we had and reformatted all of them installed Windows XP on them, and installed all Windows updates on them so that they would be ready to go if ever needed.  Well Jamie’s was ready to go, I just had to install his graphics card so his 3 monitors would work like my computer and then install office and Windows.

6:00: A client of mine calls me up and we talk over a few business things.

6:30: I get off the phone with the client and finish working on Jamie’s computer.

7:30: I head home to watch the Saint’s game.

7:40: I get home and its only 5 minutes into the game.   I get to see Drew Brees break Johnny Unitas’ record of 47 consecutive touchdown passes with his 48th consecutive game touchdown pass.

10:30: The Saints actually win this one!  It’s about time!

11:00: I flip channels and start watching the Pawn Stars.

11:59: Another day over as I am dozing off…..

Chemo Day #6 + 5

10/6/2012:

10:40: I am sorta awake, my wife is up getting ready for work.

11:20: I finally get up and get out of bed.  I let Buster out.

11:30: My dad gets back from dropping off my wife at work, it turns out that her tire was flat.  I go outside and look at the tire, and its more than flat, the steel belt has failed and is sticking out of the tire, this tire needs to be replaced.  The tire in the trunk has a nail in it, but that is a simple fix.  We take out the back tire, get the find the Slime Repair Kit with tire plug strips that we have in the back room.  My dad gets the tools, I bring out the air compressor and get an extension cord out of my van.  We use a needle nose pliers to take the nail out, and then the I use the reamer to file down the hole made by the nail.  I then go to apply the rubber cement and find out that the rubber cement has completely evaporated and the tube is empty.  My dad runs off to Auto Zone and buys the cheapest Slime Repair kit with patches that also contains rubber cement.  It’s a nice cool day outside since the cold front just came through, so I just sit in the shade under the tree and wait for him to return.

12:30: He returns with the repair kit. I take the rubber cement out the kit, apply it to the hole in the tire, and apply it to the tire plug.  I then use the plugger and force the tire repair strip in 3/4s of the way and then pull out the plugger.  I then take the razor blade my dad gives me and cut the plug even with the threads of the tire.  I then start looking for the jack, which I only see a jack in her car and not any of the other tools.  My dad starts taking off the nuts off the tire, he gets 2 completely off, and I tell him we have to just loosen the last two and not take them off completely until we get the tire off the ground.  My dad gets the hydrolic car jack out of my grandma’s car, and I loosen up the last two nuts.  We then put the jack under the front the car and jack it up so that the front tire is off the ground.  He takes off the last two nuts, but the tire won’t come off the lugs when he pulls it.  I hit it pretty good and the tire comes loose.  We take off the bad tire and put on the tire we repaired and filled and put the nuts on.  I then lower the car by turning the valve on the jack to let the car down.  I check the tire pressure and it is perfect, so I leave it alone, and put the cap back on the tire stem.  My dad and I then pick up all the tools and head back inside.

1:15: We are back inside, we eat Big Macs from McDonalds and get some of the McDonalds Monopoly pieces.

1:30: I go get my shower.  I havn’t shaved my face and head since Monday so it takes a while to catch up on the shaving. Blah easier to do it daily.

2:15: I jump in the shower.

2:25: I jump out the shower.

2:35: My dad and I head to my wife’s work, me driving her car, we drop off her car so that she can come home after work without us having to stop what we are doing then to go pick her up because we have a few things planned.

2:45: We get to her work.

2:50: We are heading back home.

3:00: We get back home, I get my keys to my van and head on over to my office.

3:10: I get to my office and pick up a monitor that I have to install for a client.

3:20: I get to the client’s location and install the new computer, monitor.  I notice that the cable modem was taken out by the lightning strike that took out her old computer that she told me about, but I never actually was on site since before the strike.  I run back to my office and pick up a modem and a router and then back to the client’s location to replace those as well.  I call up Cox to change the modem information on the account so that the new modem can get online.  Once the new modem is online everything else is working with no issues.  I remove all the default programs that are just a waste of space and processing power.  I then show the client how to use the computer.  The client will also need a new printer because of the old one is having issues with Windows 7 64 bit.  I will get one this week.

5:30: I am heading back to my office.

5:40: I get to my office and record the serial numbers of the equipment I installed, and then put all the trash in the hallway to be taken away later.

7:30: After some basic cleaning, I head on home, after my wife called me telling me that she was home.  She brought home some ribs, yummy!  We also have some sausage and a tomato meat sauce over pasta that my mom was cooking throughout the day.

8:30: My wife and I go lay in bed and watch TV and I am a little tired and just doze off.

11:30: I wake up, get up to get something to drink, and then go back to laying in bed watching an Adam Sandler Movie 😛

11:59: Adam Sandler is still on, a good day overall!

Chemo Day #6 + 4

10/05/2012:

9:15: I wake up.  I know I gotta meet a new client to go over what IT equipment they need in the new restaurant they are opening soon.

9:20: I am up out of bed.  I am feeling a little nauseated, but work goes on.

9:25: I let Buster out, and get my clothes for my shower, and then let him back in while walking to the shower.

9:30: I jump in the shower.

9:40: I jump out of the shower, and put Buster back by my wife.

9:50: I head out of the house, and over to my office.

10:00: I get to my office and go upstairs, put a few things up, grad a notepad, and head downstairs to meet with the client.

10:08: I walk into the client’s office and he gives me a general overview.  After he tells me everything he has going on, I give him an overview of what I see that he needs.  We go over to the new location that is under construction and do a quick walk through.  We walk through, pick up 2 monitors for testing, and some equipment for testing and cleaning.

11:30: We are back at the office, and we will be corresponding via email as soon a I get the estimates together for what I have in mind.

12:30: I call a client to find out when is best to drop off a computer I was working on for him, and he asks me to call back in an hour. I get to work on a number of bills that we have to pay for the business.  It takes me about 2 to 3 hours to do all the financial book keeping meanwhile my stomach is growling, but not a hungry growl, and not an upset growl, just a weird rumbling.

3:30: I finish up all the financials, quarterly taxes, monthly taxes, rent, utilities, etc.  I head on out with a computer and 2 toners.

3:40: I am in my van driving to the first client’s office.

3:50: I get there and drop off the computer and talk to the client briefly, and then head back out.

4:00: I am back in he van and heading to the next client’s office.

4:10: I get to my next client’s office and drop off the two toner’s that I told them yesterday that I would get for them, I just happened to have them in stock.

4:20: I head out of that office and head over to a potential client who wants a website done.  It is my doctor from Wednesday, and he expressed interest in a website for himself, and I just needed to drop off a business card to him.

4:30: I get back to my van and head back to my office.

5:00: I backup everything on that computer I was working on and reformat it and reinstall Windows XP Home on it.

6:00: I hold a call with my business partner while he is driving back from the northshore.  We talk about the plans we got coming up over the next 3 months.

7:00: Back to this computer I am working on.  I have downloaded drivers to flash drives but the computer will just not take the drivers.  I finally put a network card in the computer and I am able to get online.  I then go to Dell’s website and download the driver for the onboard nic card.  What do you know it installs this time with no issues, so I shutdown the computer, take out the temporary network card I put in, turn on the computer, and start installing updates along with my remote access program.

8:30: I am heading home.  Indian food tonight, Spicy Lamb Curry 🙂

9:00: I get home, and then my mom gets home with the Indian Food.

9:15:  I first eat some Lamb Curry with rice, nice and spicy the way I like it.  I then try some of the spinach and chicken which is not spicy at all, but good, and then I try some of the Chicken Curry which is not as spicy as my Lamb Curry.

10:00: I am stuffed, I didn’t eat too much, but I am full, I did drink a lot of tea all day, that’s probably it.

10:30: I am just laying in bed, on my laptop, browsing the TV stations and going over everything I did today.  Catching up my blog for Wed, Thurs, and today Friday.

11:59: Another day gone!  Catch ya’ll tomorrow!

Chemo Day #6 + 3

10/4/2012:

10:30: I wake up, and I wake my wife up.  I have to get to my office to meet a client to give them a toner that they want to pick up.  My wife also has work for 11:00:

10:35: I let Buster out, and I go jump into the shower.

10:45: I jump out of the shower and let Buster in.

10:50: I take off to my office.  I will swing back later and feed Buster.

11:00: I get to my office and give the client the toner.

11:30: I head on over to another client who also needs some toner, I drop him off 2 toner’s and hard wire his desktop computer because the wireless on his desktop is giving him issues.

12:15: I leave my client’s office and head back home.

12:30: I get home and I let Buster out of his cage and feed him, and then I let him outside.

12:50: I put Buster back into his cage, and head on out to another client’s office.

1:10: I get to my other client’s office and drop off 5 toners for their printer.  I notice that they need some toner for another printer they have in the office, and will bring some them in when I get some in.

1:30: I head back to my office.

1:40: I stop by McDonald’s for two McDouble’s on my way back to my office.  For some reason McDoubles go down easy and I have never felt any kind of nausea or sickness from eating the McDoubles while going through all the Chemo.

1:50: I get back to the office and eat my McDoubles.

2:30: I go back to work working on a desktop for a client.  I work on it on and off, it has some major issues as the registry is messed up and none of the shortcuts could be opened by the computer and after a repair install the shortcuts still arn’t corrected.  The next thing will be to backup everything on the computer, reformat it, and then put everything back on, which I will contact the client about tomorrow if I can’t get it working by today’s end.

4:00: I attempt to clean up the office a little and get rid of some trash since I have been doing a lot of work lately and doing more work and less clean up around the office.  Oh well its more about bringing in the money than having a clean office for now.

5:00: I start working on a Data Recovery project that a client of mine gave me.  I go through two older desktop hard drives and both of them have no data, I then open a laptop to find out the hard drive has a proprietary interface for sony and will not be too able to really get any data off of their without more expenses, and then finally I go through one last laptop hard drive which I do find some data that the client was looking for.  I backup this data and email it to the client, and I will continue looking for more this weekend.

6:30: I go across the hall and work on their voicemail system.  They need to be able to record conversations with clients to certify the lifeline subsidized phone service to make sure that their clientele are qualified to be on such programs.  The business must keep these recordings on file for audit and certification purposes.  I go clear out all the voicemails, and then I add additional time to all the voicemailboxes to take in account the recording time.  I then make test phone calls with my cell phone recording myself and making sure that the system automatically transfers these calls to a shared folder on the server so that they can be renamed and filed.

9:00: I complete the phone changes, and then I go back across the hall.  I take a look at that computer and I decide I will just have to rebuild it tomorrow.

9:15: I head on out and head home.  I eat some left over shrimp and a baked potato my mom had from Don’s Seafood along with some Jambalaya left over from the other night that is still in the fridge.

10:00: Food was great, I go lay in bed.  I get on my computer, check a few things, but doze off.  I have to meet a client tomorrow morning at 10 AM, so I can’t stay up too late, although my sleep patterns are way off.

11:30: I manage to finally doze off.

Chemo Day #6 + 2

10/03/2012:

10:15: I am awaken by a phone call from a client who is having mouse issues.  The mouse is clicking everything or not clicking just right.  I ask the client to try changing the batteries on the mouse since it is a cordless mouse and to make sure that their cell phone is no where near the mouse.  They tell me that their cell phone is not near the mouse, but they cannot remember when they last changed the batteries.  I tell them that is why I only use wired mouses because I have had to many battery issues that end up wasting too much time.

10:25: I get up out of bed, and let Buster out and feed him.

10:35: I jump into the shower.

10:45: I jump out the shower.

11:00: I am in my van heading to my Dr. Biundo’s Office.  He was originally seeing me for rheumatoid arthritis with my markers in my original test with Dr. Yager thinking it was an auto immune disease or something else that I may have had, but it could have all been side affects of the Lymphoma.

11:15: I get to the hospital and parking in the parking lot on the Northeast side of the hospital which is used more for the Doctors and Nurses to park in than patients.  This makes it very easy to find a parking spot.

11:25: I sign in at the window and pay my co-pay.

11:35: I am lead to the back, weighed, go over the basics with the nurse, and then wait in the patient room for the doctor.

11:50: The doctor comes in and we go over everything.  He reviews my whole history with him, and says that while he has never seen any cases of my symptoms leading to cancer, that it the cancer could explain why my inflammation was up along with a few other things, but no diseases or other reasons could be pointed at.  He knows my oncologist Dr. Veith, and said that he even taught Dr. Veith.  He says that he may take it up with Dr. Veith and record all this in a journal for others to read and follow up on because this has not been seen before, but maybe more research and follow up could help diagnose this quicker in the future possibly.

12:20: I leave the Doctor’s office and walk back to the car.

12:30: I swing by McDonalds for two McDoubles, and then stopped by the Bank on the way home.

12:50: I get home and feed Buster, that is the reason I was heading back home in the first place, I gotta take care of Buster 🙂 He is doing better, and has to eat more often through the day rather than all at once.

1:00:  I was thinking about going back to the office, now I wasn’t feeling it to go back to the office so I just rested at home.

2:00: I get a call from an IT company out of San Antonio who has a client who is going to sublease an office in a Doctor’s office and wants to know if I would be able to hook up a router, network switch, computer, and printer for him so he wouldn’t have to come all the way to New Orleans from San Antonio just to hook up a computer.  I tell him I can take care of that no big deal.  He explains to me that he is going to have his own internet connection from Cox, so we don’t have to worry about sharing networks or the internet connection so they would be separate and secure.  He tells me that he will get back with me early next week and hopefully have everything to me by early next week to install.

3:00: I do some admin work budgeting the business money for what I got coming in, and what I have been making with only working for the most part every other week.  I get a pretty good idea of what I will need to do on Friday when the checks clear and I have to do Quarterly Employment Taxes along with State and Local Sales Taxes on Friday, along with paying rent and utilities.

4:00: I figure everything out and doze off for a little.

4:45: I wake up and go eat the food that my mom brought home from Guillory’s.  I got a crawfish burger, which was more batter than anything else, and I will not get it again, and a philly cheese steak which was actually pretty good.

5:30: I am back in my room watching Everyone loves Raymond.

6:00: I am just taking it easy, a little tired, just watching TV, feeling ok, a little nauseated, but I have had that nausea feeling all day.

8:00: I just take the rest of the evening easy and relax, on my computer while watching TV while laying in bed.

11:59: I doze off after another long day, I drift into a deep sleep.

Chemo Day #6 + 1

10/02/2012:

12:35: I get up out of bed.  Tired, but I also have to hit the bathroom from all those extra fluids.

12:45: I let Buster outside and watch him.

12:55: We come back inside and I warm myself up 2 pieces of bread pudding that my Aunt Estella had made over the weekend.

1:20: I am laying back in bed, on my laptop, checking out a few things, and catching up on projects that I am working on.

1:45: I doze off.

2:30: I wake back up and continue working on what I was working on.

3:00: I get up and eat some soup that my mom brought home that she picked up on her way home from work.

4:30: I get a call from a client that wants to know the status of their desktop.  I told them that I had started looking at it on Friday, but never got to finish the computer.  I had chemo on Monday, yesterday, and I wouldn’t be back in the office to Thursday evening, and I would work on finishing up the desktop then.

6:00: I doze back to sleep for a little bit.

8:00: I am back up, just being lazy, I am a little weak, but I get up and head over to the office.  I know there are a few checks I have to deposit and rent is due on Friday for Hands Free Help, so I gotta make sure I got funds in the bank to pay that.

8:20: I jump into the shower.

8:30: I jump out of the shower.

8:45: I am heading over to my office.

9:00: I get to my office.  I pick up the mail on the floor, process the checks, and put them in a money pouch to bring home to deposit tomorrow.

9:30: I put the desktop on the workbench and try to figure out the file association problem, but since everything is just not associated, I feel it is best just to do a repair install of Windows XP Home Edition on the computer, so I start that.  On the other computer I boot using a boot disk and run a chkdsk to repair a missing/corrupt file error.  Time flies when you are working on two computers and walking around checking on things.

11:59: Time for me to leave my office, the computers are working on things and its too late to wait for them to finish up, so I leave them working till I make it back to check up on them.

Chemo Day #6: ~~~~ 6 More to Go

10/01/2012:

9:45: I get a call from a client who is partnering with another client of mine to open up another restaurant.  He would like to go over a few things with me along with some quotes and prices for things needing to be done at the new location that is in the works.  I tell him that I am about to go do Chemo Therapy, so my earliest available would be Friday.  We schedule our appointment for Friday at 10 AM.

10:00: I get up and I take Buster outside.  I then check on a few things online.  I get an voicemail from a client who’s computer is froze.  It froze up last night when i was trying to fix iTunes and it showed that  was still on his computer, he just wanted to make sure that he was not kicking me off if I was working on it.  I told him that he could restart it and that it had frozen up last night.  He sent me back an email to see if there is anything else that we can do to speed up his slowness.  I tell him that he has one of the oldest computers out the group, and that his computer and the receptionist computers are both due to be upgraded before the end of the year or before the summer of 12013.

10:15: I follow up with another client who wants a website created for her business.  She has some hosting right now but it seems like it is just an hosted exchange server.

11:30: I get together Buster’s food and feed him his half a can.

12:00: I shave my face and head.

12:10: I jump in the shower.

12:20: I jump out the shower.

12:25: I put on the lidocane cream on my port and put saran wrap on top of it.

12:30: My Uncle Frank picks me up from the house.

12:50: My Uncle Frank drops me off at EJGH at the Yenni Treatment Center.

1:00: I check in, and am sent upstairs.

1:10: They come get me out of the waiting room across the hall.

1:20: I am sitting in chair 5.

1:30: They stick the needle into my port. I am now just waiting for my meds and chemo.

2:30: They hang my emend bag and start pumping that into me.  This is for anti nausea.

3:01: The Zofran and the Decadron beg is hung and starting to be pumped into me.

3:25: The Adriamycin is starting to be pumped into me.  See the nice red color :P

3:40: They want to flush the Adriamycin so they hook the saline drip back up.

3:50:  They hook up my Bleomucin and start pumping that into me.

4:17: They push  the Vinblastine out of the syringe.

4:20: They hook up my Dacarbazine and start pumping that into me.

5:00: The Dacarbazine is done, they are now just flushing me with saline.

5:45: The nurse I have usually works in the inpatient oncology department on the 5th floor of the hospital, and she lets the saline really flush me.

5:55: The pull out the needle and put a piece of tape over me.

Chemo Day #5 + 11

09/28/2012:

8:50: I get a call the client who’s monitors I switched out. The other night.  The auto syncing words are stuck on the screen.  I suggest that the client turn off the monitor and turn it back on.  She does this and what do you know the monitor comes back on with no problems. I doze back off.

10:30: I wake up, I take Buster outside and watch him, I then bring him back inside and feed him his half a can of food and give him some water.  I make sure he eats that with no issues.

11:00: I get my stuff for my shower.

11:10: I shave my face and my head.

11:30: I jump in the shower.

11:45: I jump out of the shower.

12:00: I am at my computer at home and I check my emails.

12:20: I call a client who would like to go over a series of invoice because they need to file them with the insurance company for a claim and need to remove a few new items that is for a new setup that was not affected.

12:40: I head on over to the Sprint store for my Dad’s phone it has been crashing and acting weird ever since we got it.

12:55: I get to the Sprint Store.  I check in and wait.

1:10: I meet with a rep, and go over the list of things the phone is doing.  I explain to him that my Dad needs the phone because he picks me up from Chemo and I need to get in contact with him at other times when I am at home resting the few days after Chemo.  He tells me that he had cancer as well and he knows what it is like to go through Chemo.  He only had 3 cycles, and has been in remission for 2 years, so its a positive note.  Since this is the third time I am bringing this phone in, he goes ahead and puts it down as a replacement, and I pay the $35 service charge to have the phone repaired/replaced since I do not have a warranty on the phone. I have never had a warranty on an of my past 10 phones and nothing has ever happened to them that was an accident.  A warranty is just a waste of money to me.

1:45: I am heading out of the Sprint store and back home so that I can feed Buster again.

2:00: I get home.  I take Buster outside, no diarrhea this time, so that is a good thing!

2:30: I put down Buster’s food, another half a can of food, he eats it with no problems.

2:45: I head on out to my office.  My sister is home, so I leave Buster out, laying on the Lazy-Boy.

2:50: I get into my van, it is raining.  I remember that my wife’s leftovers from diner last night is in the back fridge.  I get out my van walk into the back yard, get the leftovers from dinner out the fridge, and walk back to my van in the rain.

2:55: I head on over to my office.

3:05: I get to my office.  I warm up the left overs in the microwave, and enjoy the Indian Food again from last night.

3:20: I get to work, finishing up the laptop installing iTunes on it.  It gives me an issue installing it, I have to remove it, restart the computer and reinstall it again, and this time it works.  All this work on this laptop only to get iTunes installed so that she can update her phone.  Oh well the work is done, the computer is getting all its updates, and iTunes is installed.  I will evaluate the computer throughout the day and tonight to make sure it is working properly before I give it back to the client.

4:00: I catch up on some additional admin work and invoicing and billing.  The speeds on the internet are back up 😛  This is equal to about 3.75 MB down, and 0.6MB up. Very nice speeds 😛  Another reason I like to stay at my office…

6:30: I finish up what I am working on and head home.  We have Jambalaya with shrimp, chicken and sausage and some grilled salmon. MMM!

6:40: In the car.

6:50: At home.

7:00: At the table eating 🙂

8:00: I am in my room, on my laptop, doing a few things here and there, but more than anything watching TV and just relaxing!  I doze off for a little.

10:30: I wake up and feed Buster his half a can of food, that’s 2 cans a day of the low-fat diet.

11:00: I am back in bed and doze back off…

11:59: The end of another day:)

Chemo Day #5 + 10

9/27/2012:

9:11: I get a call from a client who’s phone service is acting up.  Although while she is on the phone with me a call comes in on the line, which she has not been able to do all morning, so she hangs up with me to answer it.

9:30: The doc calls about Buster saying that he had a good night, he did not vomit and no diarrhea, so he is happy with what he sees.  He did not eat any food the previous night, but did eat some canned food this morning and is holding that down.  The doc will call me back later in the day with an update, and most probably Buster will be able to go home today.

9:43: A client calls me up to check up on me, I give him the results of the Pet Scan and everything the doc said, since he is a doctor himself.  He says everything is looking good then, and he looks forward to getting more updates from me when the new set of test happen.

10:00: I get up out of bed because I have to go over to Quest Diagnostics to get my blood drawn for the blood count tests before the next chemo. It is weird not having to let Buster out.

10:10: I shave my face and my head.

10:20: I jump into the shower.

10:30: I jump out of the shower.

10:40: I am in my van heading over to Quest.

10:50: I get to Quest and sign in.

11::45: I am finally seen, that felt like forever, geesh!  The nurse puts the needle in my right arm.  This is the same nurse that was flip with me about 6 weeks ago telling me that she is not the other nurses and only can work with what she feels then gave up and sent me to another nurse.  She sticks me and she is not like the others, she can’t stick a needle worth crap!  She takes about a minutes moving the needle back and forth under my skin which is painful until she gets the vein.  This vein is the easiest for the other to get, so much so that I don’t feel the needle when they stick me, the blood just comes out, this nurse hurts!!!  I fill up the two tubes of blood and I am glad to get out of there, blah!

12:00: I get back into my van, and head to my office.

12:20: I get to the office and start going to work on completing the updates on that rebuilt laptop and transferring all the data back to the laptop from the backup I took.

12:45: I get a call from a client that wants to drop off a desktop.  We tried working on it remotely but all the file associates are trashed on this computer.  It wants to know what to open up any type of file with.  The only thing she can do on the machine is browse the web, she can’t use office, open a document, open up an executable, or anything.

1:00: I go back to what I was doing working on.  Just basic things and some admin work.

4:30: I am done most of what I need to do today, time to go home so we can go pick up Buster.

5:00: I get home, and my wife is ready to go, and my mom will tag along since she also takes care of Buster when I am not feeling well and my wife is away at work or school.

5:30: We get to the vet.

5:45: We see the doc, and Buster.  Buster looks better and is happy to see us.  Doc goes over the medicine to stop his nausea and is internal pain.

6:20: We leave the vet.

6:30: We get back home.  We have to wait before feeding Buster.  We have been planning on going to Nirvana to eat Indian Food at the Buffet tonight, so we put Buster in his cage and head on out.

7:00: We get to Nirvana and park around the block and walk back to the restaurant.

7:10: We sit down. We all get the Buffet, but my wife doesn’t like certain things and can’t have anything with tomato sauce because she is allergic, so she is going to order something with spinach and cheese off the menu with rice along with some garlic bread.  The food is great as always!

8:20: The food was great, but I am stuffed 🙂  Time to head on home and check on Buster and feed him.

8:30: We head home.

8:55: We get home.  I lay on my bed to work on a few things.  However I won’t work on too much tonight.  Buster is laying right next to me, and as I am working on the computer I doze of. ZzZzZzZzZz….

11:59: Yep I was still sleeping, I am just exhausted.  Another day gone…
