Chemo Day #3 + 12

09/01/2012:

10:00: I am awake after a good nights rest.  I let Buster out.

10:30: I eat some bread pudding for breakfast. I start checking a few emails.  My office is still offline because the power is out.

11:00: I go back in my room and lay in bed and start doing some research on a few things I got coming up.

1:15: I am able to start pinging my office, so that means that my power and internet is back up over there.

1:31: I get a call from my client across the hall wanting to know if it is OK if he goes to the office and gets the equipment and bring it back home so that he can work from home since there is no power at the office.  I tell him that I am about to head over to the office because the power is back on and so is the internet.  When I get there I could turn on the server and his computer and he could work remotely, and he said that was even better!

2:15: I get over to the office and go across the hall first to get them up and running.  Someone is already over there on the phone starting to do some work.  I power up the server and they power up the machines.  So everything is good to go.

2:45: I am in my office.  My servers are up and running.  The client webserver is not serving web pages for some reason.  I log into the linux web server and it corrects a few things automatically, and then the client webserver starts to server pages again.  I have an issue with my email server, I see the services are not all starting up.  I manually start the services and the email starts flowing with no issues.

5:00: I pack up my van with all the new equipment for the phone system and network that I am putting in at the clients office who got struck by lightning

5:30: I head on over to lowes.  Their parking lot is packed, but the inside and the lines aren’t bad at all.  I pick up some hardware for the install.

6:00: I am home to pick up my dad who is going to help me with the install tonight.

6:30: We head on out, we stop by McDonalds, pick up 4 McDoubles and 2 Large Sweet Teas for our supper.

6:50: We get to the client’s office and unpack the van and eat our supper.  We then go to work.

7:00: I show my dad how to unpack the phones, put the labels on, and how to plug them in between the computer and the wall network jack so that the phone is on the network and the computer uses the network through the phone.

7:15: I begin shutting down the server.  While it is shutting down I start cleaning up the area, removing the network switch, cable modem, and other clutter that is in the closet.  I unplug all the network cables.  Once the server is shut down, I unplug the server and remove it.  I then screw the 2 new rack rails in place between 2 shelves that are already there.  This will allow the network equipment to be neatly stacked and also allow for cable management rather than the cables being everywhere.  After I get the racks in place I untangle all the wires and run them to their new patch panel.  I then go through the wires one by one and order them by the layout of the office.  The wires that are long enough I pull through the rack, those are terminated directly to jacks.  The other wires have jacks in the closet already.  I create a cable with an rj45 on the end to plug into the jack, and on the other end I terminate a rj45 to go into the new patch panel.  This will resolve the issues of cables going everywhere and not being able to tell where the cable goes.  Once everything is done, it will be easy to know where each cable goes especially when trying to resolve an issue.  My dad wrote down the numbers on the jacks that had numbers as he put the phones out so I use the numbers on the cables for the most part.  The other cables I have my dad tone out while I am punching down the cables.  We also test the cables by plugging in the phones as I terminate them.

What do you know we are still working, but the night is over and the new day has begun, check out tomorrow’s entry for the continuation of the work!

Chemo Day #3 + 11

08/31/2012

9:45: I get out of Bed, let Buster out, and get ready to get a shower.

10:00: I jump in the shower.

10:10: I jump out of the shower

10:30: I get over to the Quest Diagnostics Place.  This time they are open so I sign my name and sit and wait.

10:40: They show me to the back, get my info, and draw my blood.  This nurse does a great job.  She sticks the vein on t first stick, I barely feel it.  She fills up the two tubes, and that’s it blood is done.

10:50: I am back in my van heading over to my office.

11:05: I get to my office, the power is still out, so I head on home.

11:15: I get home.

11:25: I warm up 3 pieces of Boudin.  Mmm Mmm Good.

12:00: I turn on the news for some updates, nothing too new.

3:00: I head on over to AutoZone.  I need a new breaklight and some power stearing fluid.  I purchase both.  Before leaving I put in the new light and the breaklight still doesn’t work.  It must be the socket.  I go back inside and purchase a socket.  I head back home so that I can put the light back in because I need wirenuts and tools.

4:00: I get home, and everyone else is home.  My wife and dad both help/watch me change out the socket.  We first test the old socket.  I have my dad hit the break pedal while I push down the light and sure enough the light works, if I let the light go, it stops working, so the socket isn’t holding the bulb right.  I but the old socket off and then strip the plastic off the wires and wirenut the new socket to the wires and tape up the wires.  I then put the new bulb in and have my dad test it, it works, so I put the light fixture back in place.

4:30: We take all the hurricane boards down off of the house.

5:00: I take out the reciprocating saw and we cut the trunk of the small young tree in the back yard that snapped in half during the storm.  It is about 7 inches across, so it takes a while to cut.  My dad then trys getting the stump out with some digging and some cutting of roots, but it takes a few days with an axe to get it completely up.  It is ok, he wants a satsuma tree anyway, so that is what will go in its place.

6:00: We are back inside.  The ground meat is not completely defrosted so we are not going to have hamburgers.  I throw out the idea of having tacos.  We don’t have any taco shells, so my mom runs to the store and picks up some shells and taco mix while my dad defrosts and breaks up the ground meat.

6:30: My mom gets back and finishes up the ground meat.

7:00: The tacos are great, mmm, mmm good.

8:00: A dial tone all of a sudden comes on.  That means that the cable has been hooked up again.  We have TV, Cable and Internet again!  YAY INTERNET!  That’s the main thing I am worried about.

8:15: I am in my room checking a few things on the internet.

8:30: I help my wife put some things together in the room she is working on, then I lay in my bed and back surfing the internet, looking up a few things, and recording a few things.

9:00: I just keep up on the compuer while watching TV again.

11:59: Time to go to sleep, catch ya’ll tomorrow!

Chemo Day #3 + 10

08/30/2012

7:58: I am awaken to my dad unscrewing the hurricane board on the side door.  I get out of bed because I know there is some work to do, and I want to check the status of the storm.

8:30: The TV is on, the storm is somewhere near Baton Rouge, but we are still getting rain and some winds.

8:45: We notice a discoloration of the ceiling in the center of the Den, must be a leak.  My dad goes in the attic and find that it is coming from around the whirli bird, the vent for the attic.  I go outside and I can see where the roof tile looks a littl different from the ground.

9:00: I go in the backroom, get the roofing nails, a hammer, and we have some left over roofing from when they did the roof.  I put it all on the brick wall, I then go get the 8ft ladder and set it up by the side the house.

9:30: I have my dad hold the ladder and I climb up on top of the roof.  I get up to the top of the roof, it is only 4 tiles from the top of the roof.  I can see the hole that my dad saw from in the attic.  I rip out the ceiling tile that is bent over.  I am cutting the new one when it starts pouring down raining again.  I put the tile in place temporarily to prevent additional water from leaking into the house because this is a heavy downpour, feels heaver than the blowing rain we had the whole storm.  Once it is done raining, I finish cutting it to fit properly around the whirli bird and then nail it down.  I then rip out the one above it to because it has been damaged as well.  I  I get this one into position and nail it down.  I then use some rubberized roof patch to run under the loose tiles that I had to pry up to nail the new ones down properly to make sure they sealed right.  The new tiles have a tar strip that seal the tiles to each other when they get heated by the sun.  I just wanted to make sure that no additonal winds would push water up under the tiles I was working on.

11:30: I get off of the roof and wash the tar and the roofing materials off of me.  I then go inside and get a shower.

11:45: I hop in the shower.

12:00: I get out of the shower.

12:15: My dad, my wife, and I go over to the office to check on the office.

12:30: When we get to the office, there is no power at the office.  The office has some damage to the outside the building.  We go inside using flashlights to go up the stairs and to find our way down the hall and to unlock the door.  Everything inside my office is nice and dry.  Nothing got wet or damaged, so the office is good to go.  I power up a UPS and test out the internet connection, the cable modem does not come online, so there is no internet connection. I turn of the UPS and we head on out. We use the flashlights to find our way back downstairs.

12:35: We leave the office and head over to Quest Diagnostics to see if they are open.  I need to get my blood drawn so that I can get my Chemo on Tuesday since Monday is a holiday.

12:45: We get to Quest but they are closed because of the storm so we head back home.

1:00:  We get back home. My dad finishes up cleaning up broken branches and leaves all around the front yard and back yard.

1:30: It starts to rain again, so we go inside and watch the coverage again.

2:30: I get a call from a client having an issue with his computer.  He is only getting a white screen.

2:45: I meet the client at his office.  After some basic troubleshooting I figure out his monitor has gone bad.  I tell him that I do have one at my office that I can go get, so I drive over to my office.

3:00: I get to my office.  I don’t have a flashlight, so I check what keys I need when I get up the stairs before entering the building.  I feel my way up the stairs, and then down the hall to the door, I then open the door and I can see inside because of the light being let in by the window.  I grab the monitor, and then lock the door up.  I feel my way back down the hall to the stairwell and then down the stairs.  I get back in my van and head back to the client’s office.

3:15: I get back to the client’s office.  I put the new screen up and it works.  His computer is usable again.  He has a few questions about scanning, so I show him a few more basic scan functions.  Another client then arrives at the building who is having some laptop issues.  I check the laptop, but it is not getting power.  If I have to name what the issue is, its the power reciever inside of the laptop.  I tell him that I will take the laptop back to the office and take it apart.  I will then see if its monetary feasible to fix the laptop or get a new one.

3:45: I leave the office and head back to my house.

4:00: There is no internet yet.  My mom is up for cooking some seafood gumbo.  I find some peeled shirmp in the back freezer and bring that out, along with some ground meat that we can defrost and have tomorrow night for supper.

4:30: My mom starts cooking, I just lay down on the sofa watching more coverage.

6:00: Supper is ready.  MMM Good!  Shrimp and Sausage Gumbo, very good.

7:00: Supper was great.  The internet is still down.  Not much to do, so I watch some more TV.

8:00: I go lay down in my room watching TV in there.

10:30: They stop the coverage that the convention parties come on TV, blah I don’t feel like watching this.

11:30: I doze off.

Chemo Day #3 + 9

08/29/2012:

7th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, and Welcome Hurricane Isaac

12:00: I am still sitting at the computer watching the weather as it goes.  I think I will go lay down for a little bit.  I go in my room, lay in bed, and pull the laptop out on the bed to watch some more.

1:00: The gusts really start going good outside.  I look out the back door and look out the front door. It is very nasty outside.  I am mainly checking for any flooding.

2:00: My dad joins me on his computer while I am on my computer.  He turns on the news streaming on the computer.  It appears that the storm is stationary and has stalled and just sitting with the eye over the Gulf.

3:00: Yep the storm is still stationary.  We are getting hammered pretty good with some inner squalls.  Wind driven rain, and very powerful gust.  It is raining tree branches and anything else that gets launched into the air with the heavy winds.

4:00: It appears that the storm is moving, but it is not really moving.  They drew a circle I found out later and it just spun in the same circle for 6 hours.

4:15: The Internet, TV, and Phone go down at the house.  We have lost our cable connection.  Not really anything to do now but go to sleep, so into the room I go, and it doesn’t take long to fall asleep.  Although I do hear a few big noises outside while trying to fall asleep and I hear the power flicker 3 or 4 times because the UPS beeps everytime it has to kick in because of a dip in power.

11:30: I wake up, I know the storm is still going on.  I get up and go to scout things out.  My dad told me that small young tree in the back yard had snapped and was leaning up against the house, so he went outside and cut the tree all the way through so it wouldn’t be leaning against the house and beating up the roof and gutters.  Interesting site.

12:00: We turn on the TV, but no TV, my Dad has a digital antenna in his room to catch some extra channels besides the cable TV.  He gets the antenna and hooks it up to the TV in the Den.  I have to use my phone to go online to get an unlock code so that the antenna mode of the TV can do a scan.  I get the code, put it in, then scan. We pick up 16 channels.  The Digital Air TV is a pain in the yup.  At least the old Analog Air TV you could get get the reception or just audio if you couldn’t get a clear picture.  You could get a fuzzy picture, move the old antenna’s around and you could clear it up.  The Digital Air TV doesn’t work like that.  It works like anything else Digital, it either works or it does’t.  We take about 30 minutes playing with the antenna and the scanning to get the channels and to get it to work right.  The TV most of the time was choppy, dropping the picture and sound and chopping it up because it lost the digital signal.  The analog would have never had these problems.  Stupid Digital Conversion Crap.  That was a dumb idea.  We get it working pretty good with it droppig out every now and then.

1:30: My dad and I go outside.  We notice a lot of cars coming from a busier block over, and we figure that the road must be blocked or something because the cars appear to be detouring.

2:00: I put on my Dad’s rain coat and go for a walk.  Yep, I found out the issue.  There is a tree completely blocking the road way.  It has snapped at its trunk and laying across the road way.  It pulled the electrical wire of the pole, the electrical pipe coming out the roof of the house is broken, and looking up at the transformer on the pole, it is brown and black, a sure sign that it blew up when all this happened.  I take a few pics while I am site seeing.

3:00: I am back inside.  I go out in the back freezer, grab an Apple Pie, another Pizza, and some Catfish to cook tonight for supper.

3:10: I throw the Pizza in the oven.

3:35: I take the Pizza out the oven and throw in the Pie.

3:40: The Pizza tastes great.

4:35: My dad takes the Pie out the oven.  Oops, I didn’t put a pan underneath it, I got a little bit of a mess to clean up.

5:00: I eat some Pie, nice and sweet.

5:30: Our neighbor across the street comes over and talks a little bit outside.

6:00: I head back inside, and go lay in bed for a little bit.  I wanted to fall asleep, but I had to catch up on my blog for yesterday and today, so I am typing it in Notepad till the internet comes back up so I can update the blog.

7:15: I am done typing and dozing off a little. I am going to go check on the fish that my mom is cooking 🙂

7:20: Mmm Good Fish!

8:00: I go back to sitting on the lazy boy.  It won’t be a late night tonight, I am already feeling a little tired already.

10:00: The latest readings come out.  It is slowly moving towards Baton Rouge, not there yet.  It feels like hanging out a little longer.

11:00: I am in bed, along day, but I am good!

Chemo Day #3 + 8

08/28/2012:

8:30: I am up for today.  I know I got some last minute preparations to do at the office before heading back home for the night to bunker down for the Tropical Storm Isaac.

8:35: I let Buster out, it looks some calm and peaceful outside, the calm before the storm.

9:00: I head out to my office.  Not too many people are on the road.  Pretty calm compared to yeseterday’s traffic.

9:10: I pull into the empty parking lot of my office, no one else is here but me.

9:15: I go across the hall and retrieve the packages that were delivered for me yesterday evening while I was at my client’s location.

9:20: I unpack the three packages.  The first is the AIM-CUE card for my cisco router which will allow me to put voicemail on it for one of my clients.  The second is 2 surge protectors for one of my clients.  The third is a toner for another one of my clients.

9:30: I put the AIM-CUE in the router, and power it on to configure the card, I go in the other room and start the configurations process.

10:30: I am done configuring most of the basics.  I will add more configurations once the router and system is in place.  I pack up the router, wrap it in its plastic, and put it in the box.  I also pack up the one phone that I was testing everything out with and put it in it’s box.  I put them furthest away from the window and cover them with some plastic.  I then push the couch away from the window and put it up against the boxes on the other side the room.  I unplug the basic electrical equipment I have in that room incase the something does happen to the window that I can hopefully dry it out and still use it.  Nothing major, just some minor things.

11:30: I catch up on some more administrative work while I do some research on the storm while also having the TV tuned to various news channels.

12:20: The storm has been upgraded, hello Hurricane Isaac.

1:00: I get the UPS that I brought over from my house and pack it up to go back home to provide backup power to my cable modem and router and network equipment.  That way if we do lose power, I can still get online using my laptop batteries and the equipment on the Battery Backup until I can get the generator in place and online.

2:00: I am done here at my office, time to head on home.

2:10: I get home and unpack the van.

2:30: I then take out 2 Pizzas and a Lasagna out the back freezer.  If we lose power we are going to lose all the food in the freezer and fridge if it goes out for an extended period of time, so may as well start cooking some now.  The Pizza is to cover Lunch, and the Lasagna is for 9 pm tonight.  I know its going to be a long night.  I throw the Pizzas into the oven and let the Lasagna sit out to defrost.

2:35: The Pizzas go in the oven at 400.

3:00: The Pizzas come out.  Very good and tasty.  My dad is just getting home as well.

4:00: Just monitoring the storm and weather conditions sitting at the computer in the living room.

6:00: The real fun begins.  The conditions outside are starting to deterioate.

7:00: Strong winds and rain can be heard.

7:30: My mom puts the Lasagna into the oven.

9:00: The Lasagna is out the oven, just needs to cool off.

9:15: The Lasagna is ready to eat.  I get off the computer for a break to eat some Lasagna.  Mmm Mmm Good!  I havn’t had Lasagna in a while.

9:30: I get an email saying that I lost power at the office.  I have been getting emails all evening of power dips where the battery backup kicked in for 2 seconds.  But this time the power isn’t coming back up.

9:43: I get an email saying that the battery backup at the office is low.  So sure enough the power has been out for 13 minutes and its not coming back up anytime soon.

9:45: My office is now offline.

10:00: I am back on the computer, looking out the back door and the front door occasionally.

11:00: The weather just keeps getting worse outside.

11:59: Catch tomorrow’s entry for the continuation on the storm.

Chemo Day #3 + 7

08/27/2012:

8:36: The first phone call comes in.  This call wakes me up, so I don’t answer it right, but instead prepare to start getting out of bed.

8:38: The second call comes in.  Oh boy today is going to be a long day with the hurricane forecasted to come in tomorrow.  Time for me to get out of bed and get a move on.

8:50: I return the first call.  The call was from a client updating their emergency contact list.  Besides my office and my cell phone they are asking if there are any other numbers that they can reach me at for after the storm.

8:57: I return the third call I get on my cell phone while I am on the phone with client 1.  It is the Dell Technician letting me know he would be repairing the Server today, and wanted to know how long was I available today for the server repair.  I told him I had a key to the building, so it didn’t matter what time it was, I would meet him at the office to repair the server, and would stay with him until it was repaired.

9:15: I return the second call.  This client cannot get online.  They had the IPS at their house yesterday and they are getting internet to the house, but the computer can’t get online.  I walk the client through the process of using system restore to restore their computer to a week ago, 08/20/2012.  We wait about 10 minutes while the computer restarts and then he is able to get online.  I log into his computer and make sure he can browse the internet and check his email.

9:45: I am done with those issues.

9:54: I return a fourth phone call that came in while I was on the phone with client 2.  They wanted to know the status of their backup and preparations for the storm.  I log into their server and check their backup, everything is running fine.  They have a huge addition and turn over of files every week. So everything up until the recent files are backed up.  The recent files range from 250MB to 5GB, so they do take some time to backup offsite.

9:56: While I am on the phone with client 3, client 4 calls and wants to know when cans she get her laptop back.  This laptop was brought in last weeks and is waiting for parts.  I may have a power adapter that she can use at the office, but I won’t know if I do until I get there, so I put off returning this call till I get to the office.

9:58: I return client 5’s phone call that called me while I was on the phone with client 3.  They also want to know what preparations to take with their computers and server, and also wants to make a credit card payment with me while I am on the phone.

10:15: I can finally go get a quick shower so that I can head to the office.  I shave my face and clean my electric razor completely with some soap and water.

10:15: I  jump into the shower.

10:25: I jump out of the shower.

10:30: I get ready to leave, thinking of everything I have to do for the day.

10:45: Client 2 calls me back and can’t connect again.  I get on my computer and able to see his computer remotely.  I log in and he realizes that he does have the internet again.

10:50: I am out of the house, and off, on my way to the office.

11:00: I get to the office.

11:05: Client 6 emails me for their access information to their email and remote online access to their phone account, call logs, voicemails etc through the VOIP system that I set up for them.

11:15: I find a spare power adapter that I have in the office, and power up the laptop with it to make sure it works with no issues.  I leave it plugged in for a little to make sure the battery charges and it is usable.

11:25: I email back client 6 with the information requested.

11:30: I start attempting to repair the media computer that pumps the techno music through the office 24/7.  It has been down since Friday.  I have been streaming the music on my office computer but its not hooked into the surround sound system throughout the office, so I need to get the music back up throughout the office, and not just through my office.  I work on this a little bit, but don’t have time to complete it.

11:45: I call client 4 and let them know that I found a power supply that she can borrow until I get the battery and power supply in on Wed or Thursday, whenever they are going to deliver it because of the storm.

12:00: Client 4 arrives and picks up her laptop.

12:05: I call the Dell technician back up to check on the status of the parts.  He says that FedEx has one of the shipments, but there is a second shipment that he is waiting on from FedEx.  FedEx says it should be on the truck that just arrived according to the scanner reports, but he will need to wait to it is actually scanned when it is unloaded.  I tell him that is fine, and just for him to call me when he gets an update, he tells me he will.

12:30: I get a call from a third party vendor for client 1 checking on their backup before the storm.  I log into the server and go through all the preparations with the third party vendor to check that it is satisfactory with them.

12:53: Client 7 wants to know about the status of their server repair, I let them know that I am waiting for a call back from the Technician but it will be done today, even if I have to come after hours and let him in to do it.

1:00: The mail gets here.  I enter in the payments, do some administration work, and need to get over to the bank now to make a deposit.

1:30: I leave the office to make the deposit and pick up something to eat.

1:32: I drive through the bank and make the deposit, now off to McDonalds.

1:40: I arrive at McDonalds.  I go inside because it is quicker and the line is wrapped around the building.  I am in and out before 3 cars are able to go through the ordering process.

1:50: I am back at my office.  Yummy, 2 McDoubles for my tummy.

2:05: I am done eating and drinking my red Hawaiian Punch that I have in the singles packets at my office that I just mix in a cup at the water cooler.

2:33: The Dell Technician calls me up and he has the parts, he is enroute the Client 7’s office.  I tell him I will head over there then too and meet him there.

2:40: I call back Client 7 and let him know that I am heading over to his office to meet with the Dell Technician to get the server back up and running.

3:00: I get to Client 7’s office.  I disconnect the server, take it out the closet, set it up for the Dell Technician to replace the parts.

3:20: The Dell technician gets to work changing out the parts.

4:00: The Dell technician is done changing out the parts.  Time to put it back in the closet and starts his power up tests and asset tag changes.

4:05: I get an email from Client 8 for internet connectivity through a Satellite connection. They cannot connect when they hook it up.  They have 3 internet connections. a DS3, a T1, and a Satellite connection.  The Satellite connection needs to work properly to get internet if the DS3 and T1 are knocked out during the storm. As long as they have a Satellite dish, they will have internet connectivity.  I reply to the email that I am on site with another client and I will get to them when I can.

4:10: The dell technician is done with the server.  Everything seems to be working fine.  He is going to pack up his stuff while I start to get the server back up and functioning.

4:12: My dad calls me for a storm update, since he has been on his mail route all day.  I tell him that I haven’t seen too much, but it hasn’t really strengthened and the path hasn’t really changed.  He says he is on his way home and will check the internet when he gets home.  I tell him that I am at a client’s location finishing up a few things, and he knows exactly where I am at and what I am doing and let’s me go.

4:17: I get a call from Client 1.  They are having issues shutting down a computer before leaving for the storm. I tell them to just turn off the monitors and cover the computer and I will connect to it remotely when I can and perform a clean shut down so that they can leave.

4:20: I am waiting for the server to time out its scripts because it is failing to start up its services because it doesn’t have a network connection anymore because the nic card that was in use isn’t available anymore and it doesn’t have an IP until I can log in and update this info.  I have to do this onsite because without an IP, the computers locally can’t talk to it, it can’t get on the internet, and I can’t access it remotely. So I sit and wait.

4:27: I get a email from Client 9 wanting me to show them how to send emails from their yahoo account they are having problems sending emails.  I reply back asking if he changed his password and security questions yet because his account was recently hacked, and I recommended he did that then.  If he didn’t yahoo could have locked his account from sending additional emails till that is done.  I also requested his username and password so that I could log in for him and look around and change the password and security questions myself if needbe.

4:30: I start putting in a few lines of code changing settings on the routers for Client 7.  The first round of changes doesn’t correct anything, blah I will have to look at this when I get home.

4:50: I know exactly why the router changes didn’t work, I forgot to add one line of code.  I reconnect into Client 7’s routers and make the change and email Client 7 to test out the changes.  They take a while to get back to me because the changes worked and they were testing out the speed.

5:00: I am finally able to get into the server.  I set the IPs, check the DHCP Scope, and DNS Server.  I then log into their CRM on the local machine.  All those work.  I then unplug the network switch and plug the switch back in forcing the computers to drop their network connections and reconnect again using the server as their DHCP server and correctly talking again.  I then go to the different computers and check that the CRM works on them as well it does.  I then show client 6 that the CRM is back and up and the data intact.  He likes what he sees.  He test logging in himself.  I am done here. Time to head on home.

5:30: I get in my van. I take Louisiana to Washington to Earhart Expressway to get back to Metairie.  I am not going back I-10, because when I was on my way to Client 6’s office, the traffic on the I-10 was backed up from where I got on at Causeway, all the way to the superdome which is over 5 miles and I am not sitting in 5 miles of traffic to get back home.  The regular streets will get me there quicker.

5:55: I get home.  My dad is finishing up a few things around the house.  The generator is in the backyard.  It hasn’t been run in over 2 years, and its time to test it out.

6:00: We do a few pulls, and can’t get it started.  I have a feeling that it isn’t getting gas.  We do a few more pulls, check the gas shut offs and they are all on.  We check the sparkplug, everything is good.

7:00: Still working on it. I finally take apart the screw to the bottom of carburetor and there is no gas flow.  I take apart the gas line and I do get a steady stream of gas, so its not the line. I knock the sediment cup off the bottom of the carburetor and I get gas flowing, so I put it back together.  Problem is the gas doesn’t stop flowing after putting the screw back into the bottom of the carburetor.  It is flowing out though the air filter. I take apart the carburetor and find a stuck floater.  I shut off the gas valve.  The floater is sticky, and the sediment cup is stick and gunky.  I get my dad to get me some rubbing alcohol and paper towel. I clean out the bottom of the sediment cup so it is nice and shiny again.  I then take more rubbing alcohol and paper towel and clean off the sticky floater until it is no longer sticky and moves freely again.  I put the carburetor back together and screw in the bolt on the bottom.  I then pump the primer bulb a few times.  My dad gives it a few pulls and nothing.  I give it a few more pulls and it wants to start more and more with each pull. So the engine is slowly getting there.  With 4 more pulls the generator humms to life.  It is running rough without a load which is normal.  I connect my air compressor to the generator and turn it on for a load and the generator kicks up and runs smoothly with a load on it.  I let the load run for 2-3 minutes, and then take the load back off and let it run for 2-3 minutes without a load before shutting it down.

8:00: The generator is ready to go.  I help my dad screw one board to the back room.  We also move the generator to the shed since it is higher off the ground along with the chain saw.  For the most part the basic preparations are done.

8:30: We are done.  I bring in 2 Pizzas from the back freezer and my mom throws them in the oven while we finish picking up a few things.

8:45: I shut down the computer for client 1 cleanly.

9:00: I am on the computer checking some emails and the latest forecast.

9:15: The pizza is ready.  We dive right in.  MMM Good.

9:45: Done eating pizza, back on the computer.

10:15: I jump into the shower again.

10:25: I am out the shower.

11:10: I am laying in bed.  I am tired, a long day, time for me to go to sleep.  I catch up this blog and then I put the computer up…

11:59: Goodnight!

Chemo Day #3 + 6

08/26/2012:

1:00: The Isaac Update comes out.  The models are showing a shift closer to New Orleans, but the Hurricane Center Forecast still has it going to Florida.

10:30: My wife is up preparing to go to work, I am not completely awake yet, still dozing.

11:32: I am up.  I check my emails, I have emails from clients making sure their backups are up to date and other things.

11:35: I am by my computer in the living room checking on backups status and clients computers.  I force some backups to happen on backups that are already up to date to make sure that all the files are double checked to make sure it is up to date.

1:00: I am done checking the backups.  My dad wants to put the boards up on the house, however, we have had new windows put in since the last time we put the boards in the windows.  Using frictions and 2×4’s between the bricks will no longer work because the boards are pushed further out because the windows are thicker and the 2×4’s do not have any bricks to grip on to, or the gap has expanded because of the angles of the bricks.  I come up with a solution of drilling the brick, putting in metal anchors, and then putting up 6 inch straight brackets to hold the boards against the windows.  We go off to Lowes.

1:10: We are at Lowes.  We get 50 anchors, 50 bolts, 18 straight brackets, and a new masonry bit.

2:00: We get back home and the leg of lamb isn’t cooked yet, so my dad and I head outside to start putting up boards.

2:30: 8 holes drilled, 8 anchors, 8 bolts, 4 brackets, and the first board is up.

3:15: 8 holes drilled, 8 anchors, 8 bolts, 4 brackets, and the second board is up.  I had an issue with drilling the some holes because I did not hit the holes in the brick and was drilling through solid brick.  I am spent.  It is getting hot, and I need to rest.  I am pushing myself, but I am good.  The food is ready, so may as well go inside and eat and rest and let it cool down a little outside.

3:30: I wash off the brick dust with the hose and then head on inside.

3:45: The lamb is good, my mom also made a gravy from the lamb drippings that I put over some Herb Alfredo.  Mmmm, so good, and yummy!

4:15: I relax a little after eating 🙂  The food was great!

5:00: The new Tropical Storm Isaac update comes out.  Same thing with the track pushing a little closer to New Orleans.  The day ain’t getting any shorter, so time to go outside and finish putting up the boards.

5:15: Everything is back and ready to go to start putting the boards up again.

5:45: 8 holes drilled, 8 anchors, 8 bolts, and 4 brackets, and the third board is up on the side of the house.  Time to do the 3 boards for the Spanish Windows on the front of the house.

6:00: 6 holes drilled, 4 anchors, 4 bolts, 2 plastic anchors, 2 screws, and a board later, and switching to the new masonry drill bit because it seems the one we were using got dull, the first front window is done.

6:15: 6 holes drilled, 4 anchors, 4 bolts, 2 plastic anchors, 2 screws, and a board later, the second front window is done.

6:30: 6 holes drilled, 4 anchors, 4 bolts, 2 plastic anchors, 2 screws, and a board later, the third front window is done.

6:45: My dad and I pick up all the tools, and I go to the back yard and wash off the red brick dust that is all over my arms.  I have pushed myself, and I feel it.  I couldn’t do anything else today if I wanted to.  I am spent.  I need to get a cool shower and rest.

7:00: I am inside getting my cool shower.

7:15: I am out of the shower, I show my dad the updated track which has the storm coming closer to New Orleans with this track.

7:30: I eat some bread pudding that my Aunt Estella and Uncle Vic brought over while I was outside putting up the boards.  MMMM, Yummy as always, Aunt Estella knows how to cook 🙂

8:00: I just sit on the Sofa, watching the news with my dad and my wife who is now home and eating some bread pudding as her supper.

9:30: I am laying in bed, a little exhausted, but I am good.

9:52: The 10:00 Model comes out, this time the storm is right over New Orleans.  Hopefully they keep pushing this storm more west, but we will see with the next update at 1 AM.

10:30: I do some research on a few different things.

11:59: Another day is gone. I really should crash, although I am not completely ready to crash I should get some rest after a hard day’s work.  I got some last minute things to do at the office to prepare for the storm.

Chemo Day #3 + 5

08/25/2012:

6:00: I am up because Buster has to go outside.  I get up, and let him out, and then bring him back into the room and back into the Bed.

10:30: I am barely away.  My wife has work for 11:00, so she is up and moving around.  I fall back asleep.

12:20: I am up  I had a long night of sleep, but I am still feeling a little weak and tired today for some reason.  I eat 2 waffles that my dad had made on the waffle maker.  While I am eating, my sister and bro in law come over.  I talk to them for a while and then go lay on the sofa.  I am not feeling 100%, maybe 60%.  I am a little weak and tired.  I watch Ocean’s Thirteen.

2:30: I go lay in my bed, on my stomach, on top of 2 pillows with my laptop in front of me.  I finish up watching Ocean’s Thirteen and watch Catch Me If You Can which comes on next.

5:00: My mom goes off to the store to pick up some fish for supper.

5:45: My mom gets home.  It’s going to be Salmon tonight on the BBQ Pit.

6:15: My dad throws the Salmon on the Pit.  I am starting to feel a little weak, but OK.

6:45: The Salmon is off the pit, and now I am feeling really weak.  About 50% I guess, just feeling weak sitting at the table.   I eat 3 pieces of Salmon and my dad warms me up a Sweet Potato in the microwave which I quickly smash up once its on the table.

7:00: The Saints game is on!  I watch it in the Den after I am done eating.

10:00: The game is over the Saint’s won 😛  Just a preseason game.

10:45: I am back in bed, watching TV, and back on my laptop for my nightly ritual.

11:30: Watching the Tropical Storm Isaac Updates.  BLAH Something else to deal with!

Chemo Day #3 + 4

08/24/2012:

9:40:  I am waken up by a phone call from a client.  They lost connection with their CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software, and they cannot connect back to it, I do some troubleshooting, but it seems that the server is not coming back up physically.  Time to jump out of bed and head on over.

10:00: I am up and dressed.

10:20: I arrive onsite and start troubleshooting the server.  There are a few things going on, so I call Dell Technical Support.  After spending 50 minutes on the phone with them, we are almost getting a new server, the motherboard, power supply unit, power distribution board, processor, and memory are all being replaced.  I will be back over here on Monday when the technician comes out to change the parts.

11:30: I make some configuration changes on the router so that the all the computers can have internet access.

11:50: I create a label document in word so that they can still use their Dymo Label Writer to print labels by typing in the information rather than handwriting labels.

12:20: Everything is how it has to be until Monday when the parts are changed out.  Nothing else can be done at this time.  I get in my van and head back to the office.

12:30: I get a call while enroute back to my office about use an XRay machine.  I will have to look into the details more when I get back to the office.

12:40: I get back to the office and start researching the software.  I call up technical support for the software, and they are most helpful in having me change a setting so that Xrays can still be taken until the server comes back up.

1:15: I go across the hall and get the new router, 10 IP Phones and other packages for the new phone system I will be installing this weekend and part of next week.

2:00: I do some admin work, check the mail, process some payments.

2:45: I head out to the bank to deposit the checks that I have.

3:00: I am back in the office, and start working on putting together the phone system.  I take apart the router and put in the expansion cards to add functionality.  I then scan the serial numbers and MAC addresses for all 10 phones into the computer.  I then configure all the computer network parameters, and then start configuring the phone system parameters putting in all 10 phones, adding extensions and phone lines.

7:00: I am done for today.  I have reached a stopping point.  I will have to wait for additional parts to come in anyway before continuing the configuration.  I head on home.

7:10: I get home.  Steaks tonight for supper.  YUMMY!  Also have some shrimp and squash.

8:00: I finish up supper and sit on the sofa with my wife and Dad watching Everybody Loves Raymond.  What else you want me to do, not like I should be going anywhere, I should rest and take it easy.  Guess that’s what I am using my evenings for!

9:00: I am in my bed.  Checking on a backup for a since Hurricane Isaac is about to enter the gulf.

9:40: Just finished updating my blog, I am going to try to keep this updated more often throughout the day.  Its a great way to reference things for me as well.  Chemo Brain is real, sometimes I lose track of the small details…

10:00: I finish up the backup checks, everything is good to go and work as it should.

10:10: I enter my billing time for today into my CRM program.

10:40: I go take a break from the computer for a few minutes, get up and walk around.

11:30: I am back in bed for the night, on the computer and watching TV, I’ll fall asleep like this…

Chemo Day #3 + 3

08/23/2012:

11:00: I am up.  I am doing ok.  Not really nauseated, but not feeling 100% either.  I let buster out, and sit down for a little bit.

11:30: I am feeling a little better.  I get up and get ready to get a shower, I need to meet a client for 12:30 at my office who is simply dropping off a laptop to be looked at.

11:40: I shave my face and head.

11:50: I jump in the shower.

12:00: I jump out of the shower.

12:15: I leave the house headed to the office.

12:25: I get to the office, open up the front door, pick up the mail, and go into the back door.

12:30: I go across the hall and pick up 3 packages that were delivered today.

12:35: I get a call from the client saying that they will be running a little late, but still coming, I unpack the packages I received today in the meantime.

12:45: My client arrives with the laptop that is having some power issues.  She also has a new rescue dog that chews everything, so it could be an internal power issue or a problem with the power supply.

12:50: I bring the computer to the back and start playing with it.  The computer is having no problems getting power and the battery is charging.  I start examining the wire closer and find small cuts/chew marks in the wire.  I start bending the wire and I see the battery stop charging and the screen dim, and then come back.  Finally I hear a sizzling sound and a nice stream of white smoke coming from the cord.  Yep, that was it, seems that the rescue dog chewed through the wire, luckily it was the low voltage side of the wire.

1:15: I order a new power supply, and a new battery since the battery is almost 3 years old, and longer run time was desired when on battery power as well.

1:25: I catch up on some admin work for ordering the parts and also some work I did yesterday.

1:45: I am checking on all the remaining items being shipped to me to complete the new network and phone installation for the lightning strike from last week.

2:00: I am doing ok, a little hungry, not in the mood to drive to my oncologist’s appointment.  My mom just got off of work, and she is going to come pick me up because she also wants to hear the update from the oncologist.  I am also hungry because I have not eaten anything all day.  I ask her to pick me up a Baconator from Wendy’s on the way over.

2:35: My mom arrives at the office.  She got me a triple Baconator, wow, now that’s a lot of meat.  To show you how much better I am feeling, I finish it in the 15 minutes it takes to get over to EJGH from my office.  Very good! YUMMY!

2:53: I check in at the front desk of Dr. Veith.

3:05: We are shown to the back.  The doctor’s assistant take my vitals, they go over everything with me, any pain, no, nausea, not too much lately, how is everything going, everything is going good, the first week was the worst, complete examination listening to me breath, my heart beat, my belly, feeling my neck, my legs, and ankles, everything looks good!

3:10: My wife gets there and comes into the room, she came straight over from school.

3:25: Dr. Veith comes in and talks to me, he also feels my neck and under arms and says he cannot feel anything.  I have one more infusion left to complete cycle 2 and then another PET Scan to see the reactions of the tumors to the chemo.  If there is very little to no tumors left, then I will go through 2 more cycles, which is 4 more infusions, and then 4 weeks, 5 days a week of radiation following the chemo.  If there is still tumor masses left, I will go through 4 more cycles, which is 8 more infusions followed by the 4 weeks, 5 days a week of radiation.  It all just depends on what comes of the Pet Scan in 3 weeks.

4:00: The doctor’s visit went well considering.  Just have to wait for the PET Scan to tell everything.  We had over to Wendy’s to pick up my wife a Double Stacker with nothing on it but mustard.  She’s a picky eater, but I still love her.  I also get a chocolate shake.

4:20: My mom drops me off at my office.  It is pouring down rain outside.  I have my hands full with my drink, shake, my phone, wallet and keys.  I open the door and walking in backward my foot isn’t on the full metal ramp, but on the end of the ramp where there is no friction strips.  I slip and fall on my butt with me inside, my feet out the door, my phone, wallet and keys out the door.  I didn’t hurt myself or cut myself, thank goodness because bleeding would be another issue.  I didn’t spill my drink or shake, so I am good.  I get up, pick up everything as my mom looks on in horror, and head upstairs to my office.

4:30: I call my client that was waiting on me to come back to the office, and let them know that I am in the office.  She wants to come pick up a battery for a UPS, and also a toner because I can beat the price of Office Depot when it comes to toners by at least half.

5:00: My client shows up, asks me how I am doing, and picks up the items.

5:15: I check on a few things in various bank accounts for the company, do some personal banking for myself, and then prepare to leave.

6:15: I am heading out of the office, and heading home.  Usually traffic is cleared out by now heading northbound on Causeway, but the rain has delayed the traffic, so I slowly get over the three lanes to make the U-Turn by UNO to head back southbound to head home.

6:40: I get home.  Another day complete as far as I am concerned.  I am not too hungry, since I ate nicely earlier.

7:00: I get on my home computer and do some more admin work of entering all the purchases from the weekend and this week into the computer.

7:45: I am done that I am a little hungry, so I eat some Eggplant and Bell Pepper Casserole from Sunday.

8:00: I lay on the sofa, watching TV with my dad as I slowly drift off to sleep.

9:30: I am woken up by Buster and my wife.  I also get a message on my phone on Google Talk from my business partner who wants to do some business discussion.  My phone finally dies, so I pick up the discussion on my computer.

10:30: We wrap up the discussion and everything is good to go, at least for tonight…

11:00: I look up a few things, and start my blog entry for today.

11:59: That’s it for tonight, see ya’ll tomorrow!

Chemo Day #3 + 2

08/22/2012:

11:00: I am partially awake, my wife is up getting ready to go to school.

11:45: I get a call from a client with a very slow computer.  I remote into the computer and the computer kept freezing up on me.  I noticed that the computer had Norton Antivirus along with Microsoft Security Essentials installed.  The antiviruses were fighting each other, and causing the computer to really freeze up.  I removed Microsoft Security Essentials and did a full scan of the computer with a third party scanner and did not find any virus issues.  The computer should be good to go.

1:00: I am done with the computer.  I am hungry, so time for some Peanut Butter Cheerios.

1:30: I am back on the computer checking some emails.

1:45: I go shave my face and head.

2:00: I jump into the shower.

2:10: I jump out of the shower.

2:30: I swing by a client’s office to drop off a KVM Switch (Keyboard Video Mouse Switch, 2 computers, 1 keyboard, mouse and monitor)

2:45: I arrive at my office.

2:50: I go across the hall and pick up the packages that were delivered there for me.

3:00: I am in my office following up on some phone calls and doing some admin work.

3:30: I am testing out our new Bank of Internet account and depositing checks using our scanner in the office and their website.

4:00: I do some research and start unpacking all of the items that were delivered today.

5:00: I rest a little bit in my chair and follow up on a phone call.

5:45: I go across the hall and change some additional settings, testing out faxing over VOIP.

7:00: I am done playing for today, time to go home and eat.

7:15: I get home.

7:20: Chicken and Sausage Gumbo for supper that my mom and dad had made.  VERY GOOD STUFF!  I have two bowls of this stuff!

8:00: I sit on the sofa and watch the The Mentalist.

9:00: I doze off on the sofa.

9:45: I wake up, let Buster outside, and then off to lay in bed.

10:00: I get out my computer and do a few things, but not much to do.  Just going to be here till I doze off again….

Chemo Day #3 + 1

08/21/2012:

10:00: I am awake.  I get up and let Buster out.

11:00: I get on my computer, check my emails and go over the orders for the past few days.

11:10: The day after hiccups start again! BLAH!

11:40: The hiccups are gone…

12:00: I eat 2 bowls of peanut butter cheerios.

12:30: I am back on the computer checking some admin stuff.  I need to get over to the office today to see if any payments have been delivered in the mail.  I need to put some money into the account to cover some bills.

12:50: The hiccups are back.

1:00: I shave my face and head.

1:10: I jump into the shower.

1:20: I jump out of the shower.

1:25: I put Buster up in his cage.

1:30: I am out of the door and headed to the office.

1:40: I get to the office, sure enough I have 3 checks to deposit. I run some invoices, enter the checks into the system, and install the printer and scanning software onto a different server.  I get the packages that were delivered across the hall and open them examining their contents.

2:30: I leave the office and drive to the bank to deposit the checks.

2:40: I get back to the office, pay some bills, and also take some pictures of checks for me with my Bank of Internet Phone App.

3:00: I order a few more things for the install for the weekend.

4:00: I finish some additional admin work for work I have done last week and this week.

5:00: Almost time to go home, not just yet, just got some time to kill while traffic goes down.  I remote into a few computers and check on things.

6:00: I go across the hall and install a VOIP Adapter.

7:00: I am done installing the VOIP adapter and testing it.  Time for me to head on  home.

7:10: I get home, and its time to eat Chinese Food 🙂 Yummy.  However I have some hiccups.  I use a Hicural Hiccup Relief that my Dad purchased from CVS.  Surprisingly when used correctly, this does make my hiccups go away.  Now I can eat in peace.

7:25: My wife gets home.  I fix her a plate of Chinese Food, and I continue on eating.  Bones is on TV.

8:00: I am done eating, but the hiccups come back.  The Hicural Hiccup Relief will not work that great because I don’t have much room to be drinking cups of water that is required in use with the product to make the hiccups go away.  My sister said something about taking 2 Benadryl tablets, so I do.  I also take a spoon full of peanut butter, that doesn’t work either.  My dad and I watch another episode of Bones.

9:00: By this time I am exhausted, so time for me to take a nap on the sofa.

10:30: I wake up, and I have the hiccups once again, blah!

11:15: I am in my bed.  My wife asks me why I didn’t wake her up at 9:00.  I tell her I was tired and fell asleep in the den.

11:30: I do some entry work for the work I did today, so that it will get invoiced tomorrow.

11:59: Another day gone…

Chemo Day #3: ~~~~ 9 More to Go

08/20/2012:

11:00: I am up, my wife needs to be at school for noon. I got my chemo scheduled for 1:00.  I let buster out.

12:00: I start getting ready to leave.

12:30: I eat some cheerios.

12:40: I put on my lidocane cream and put my syran wrap over to keep it from evaporating and so that it can be absorbed by the skin.

12:50: My sister is driving me and we leave the house and drive over to the East Jefferson General Hospital Yenni Treatment Center.

1:05: We arrive. I go in downstairs and check in.

1:10: I am upstairs in the waiting room waiting to be called into the infusion room.

1:27: I am taken out of the waiting room.

1:30: I take a seat in Chair 7.

1:31: They take my temperature which is 99.0, and my blood pressure which is 131/89.  Just sitting here waiting for them to hook me up and pump me up…

1:50: I sign the 4n consent forms for the 4 Chemo drugs they are going to pump into me.

2:15: They are going to access my port and hook up the needle.

2:25: They are done, the needle is in me, I didn’t feel a thing, that lidocane cream worked like a charm.  Now I just gotta wait for my saline drip to be hooked up…

2:32: They hook me up to my saline drip…

2:50: They start my premeds, the zofran and another drug.

3:00: My mother shows up, and relieves my sister, my sister is off, thanks sis!

3:20: They start my emend drugs.

4:00: The Adriamycin is starting to be pumped into me.  See the nice red color :P  The nurse gives 2 Popsicles to keep the nasty taste of the drug out of my mouth.

4:15: The Adriamycin is done.  They turn on the pump to flush saline for 5 minutes.

4:20: They hook up my Bleomucin and start pumping that into me.

4:25: My dad gets here, and we let my mom go home and rest.

4:35: The Bleomucin is done, time for the next drug.

4:40: They push  the Vinblastine out of the syringe.  This time the nurse takes her time.  Last time I think it was pushed a little fast, and I could feel some pain during the push, this time no pain, the push went perfect.

4:50: They hook up my Dacarbazine and start pumping that into me.

5:30: The Dacarbazine is done, now they are just flushing the line with saline.

5:46: They take my blood pressure 115/73, and my temp is 98.7.

5:47: The turn off the pump.  Flush my line, and pull the needle out.  I am good to go.

5:55: Packing up my laptop and shutting down, see you when I get home…

6:00: I am up out of the chair, and walking with my dad down to the car.

6:10: We are in the car, and heading home.

6:25: We arrive home.  I turn on the oven to 400.  I decided that I wanted some mozzarella sticks for supper.  Not fried this time, just baked.

6:40: The mozzarella sticks are out of the oven.

6:50: I eat some mozzarella sticks with my mom and dad.  I put off my second round to my wife gets home from school.

7:20: My wife gets home and we eat.

7:40: I help my wife with a thing or two on the computer.

8:00: I am laying back in bed.  For some reason I just feel tired!  Could be this additional chemo treatment, IDK…

8:30: I am knocked out, sleeping.

11:30: I wake up, I take buster out, and visit the bathroom myself.  I am still tired/weak, so I lay back in bed.

Chemo Day #2 + 13

08/19/2012:

3:00: I am awakened by a stupid prank caller blocking their number calling the main house number 4 times blocking their number.

3:30: I doze back off to sleep.

6:00: I am awakened by the lightning and thunder.  The lights flicker off twice because I can see my network equipment reboot itself in my closet twice.

10:30: I briefly wake up, but I doze right back off.

1:30: I am up.  This is the latest I have slept in a long time.  I feel rested. I get out of bed and let Buster outside.

2:00: My mom cooked some pasta and meat sauce and also made an eggplant and bell pepper casserole. Very good!

3:00: I check the computer for a few things, and order a few things more things for a few different clients.

4:00: I go outside to put the fluorescent light back up on the wall so that we can see under the patio at night.  I had to take it down because the gas line was going down right where the light was.  Now I have to put it back up because trying to BBQ last night in the dark wasn’t too much fun either.

4:30: I finish up the light and get the water siphoning back to the pond from the water catching garbage can again with all the rain that we have had today because it has not stopped raining.

4:45: I am back inside.  I go lay in bed watching the Pirates of the Caribbean with my wife.

6:30: I doze back off to sleep, just a little tired for some reason.

8:30: I wake back up.  I warm up the turkey hot dogs that my Dad and I BBQ’s last night for supper, and eat them.

9:30: I shave my head with the electric razor and then shave it again for a closer shave with my battery operated razor.

10:00: I am in the shower.

10:15: I am out of the shower.

10:30: I am in bed, resting, on the computer, and the TV on, but relaxed, just waiting to fall asleep again…

Chemo Day #2 + 12

08/18/2012:

11:00: I am up.  I slept great.  I get up and let buster outside.

11:30: Before the rain comes, my dad said let’s go outside and change out the right rear light bulb on my van since the running light was burnt out.  My break light was good, just didn’t have a running light.  I had an extra bulb in the car, so that makes that simple.

11:45: We are back inside.  I take care of a good bit of work.  Ordering a number of things here and there for clients.  Mostly simple products such as toner and supplies to a little more involved, but nothing too major.

12:30: I eat some Boudin Sausage and some apple pie, mmm, good!

1:00: Back on the computer doing some research and following up on some emails.

6:00: We start cooking.  My dad and I are running the BBQ pit. I am actually flipping burgers and the chicken.  Its a little hot outside, but I can stand it, I just gotta be careful. We BBQ Some turkey burgers, turkey hot dogs, chicken, and sweet potato fries.  The new pit works great!!!

7:35: Armageddon is on TV so I watch it on an off while doing a few things an eating.  Mmm, good food!

10:00: I am just exhausted.  I am going to go turn on the tv, get on my laptop and whatever till I doze off…

Chemo Day #2 + 11

08/17/2012:

7:45: I get a call from my mother saying that the plumber is on the way over to the house to install the gas line in the backyard, under the patio for the BBQ pit.

8:00: The plumber gets here I show him around and he gets to work.  I update him on why its been over 3 months since we had him do the estimate. He understands and we talk about many things on the subject.  He is actually the same age as me, and stuff like this is a wake up call.  I tell him I need some additional flavors from the BBQ pit again, regular cooked and getting food to go is just getting old.  He examines the job, puts together a parts list and then gets what he needs together.  He has to run off to the shop to get some pipe.

8:30: I sit by my computer and finish up the phone system estimate that I was working on last night.

9:00: He comes back with what he needs and gets to work on running the line, so back up into the attic for him.  I continue working on a few things on my computer at home.

9:30: He realizes that it is going to take very long running pipe in such a small space.  It will be quicker to run some gas flex line, so he has to run off again to get some.  I am almost done the estimate.

10:00: He returns and gets back to work, really moving along now with the flex line in such a tight space up in the attic.  I also finish up the estimate.  I start working on a few other things here and there, but waiting for the the plumber to finish up so I can head uptown to finish up some work on the xray machine.

12:00: He finishes up the pipe.  He puts on all the connection fittings and then hooks up the gas grill. He then gets his liquid solution to spray on the pipe connects to make sure that there is no gas leaking.  He then turns on the gas at the meter, an goes upstairs and turns on the gas at the cutoff.  No bubbles anywhere, so all is good.  He then turns on the pit.  It takes a while to flush all the air out the system before we get the gas smell.  We turn off the pit, and then turn it back on lighting it.  We feel the heat, so it is good to go, we have gas flowing.

12:15: He starts picking up all his tools, loads the truck, and makes sure the hot water heater is back on before he leaves.

12:30: I fill out a check for him and he is off on his way, telling me that I will be in his thoughts and prayers as well.  Again, can never have too many prayers!

12:45: Time for me to get a shower and head on out.  I make sure everything is locked up, get my clothes.

1:00: I jump into the shower.

1:30: I am out of the shower.  Before I leave I need to put the soffit covering back up to make sure no birds or other creatures get up into the attic.  I cut the vinyl to fit around the pipe, and then put the piece back up.  I have to bend it just right to fit back up, and then bend the ends just right to connect to the other vinyl already there.  I get my new shirt dirty in the process, blah, oh well, I just throw on another new shirt.

1:45: I am out the door and headed uptown.

2:00: I arrive uptown at the office.  The Dell technician has already come and gone and the computer is back up and running.  I turn it over so the power supply is up top so the heat is not going up through the whole computer.  I get a tech to try to shoot an Xray, nothing.  I see an issue the box that connects the XRay machine to the computer doesn’t have any power lights.  I call up the support for the XRays, we troubleshoot everything, they determine the box is defective.  They will fedex overnight a new box so it will get in tomorrow.  There is also an issue since the motherboard was replaced that the software needs a new license.  In case that is not in by this evening, he is also sending a loaner computer to take XRays on Saturday, Sunday and Monday if needed an then just ship it back.  I go outside and talk to the doctor about everything.  He approves ordering the phone system, so I will do that tonight.  I go back inside and shut everything down in the XRay room, and I am done for the day.

4:00: I am pulling out of the uptown office.  As I get closer to the Dome, the traffic gets worse because the Saints game is tonight.  I take another way home than I usually do.

4:45: I get home, and show my dad the new gas line etc.

4:50: I eat a link of Boudin sausage, mmm, first real thing I ate today.  I have been drinking plenty too, plenty of apple juice that is.

5:15: I lay on the sofa and watch the news.

6:10: We get the steaks and head outside.  This is the first time we are using this new pit.  We sear the steaks first and then let them cook on low the rest of the way through.  I go walk out to the garden and bring in at 8 eggplants from our garden.

6:45: The steaks are ready to go.

7:00: I am siting down eating BBQ steak which I haven’t eaten in at least a year because the other pit has been out of commission and not worth fixing up again.  The game is on, so catch ya’ll after.

10:30: The game is over.  What a horrible officiating crew.  4 passing interference calls that shouldn’t have been called, and a pass that was intercepted called back.  The officiating crew sucked!  This game was definitely an impossible win with the crew on the other side.  Too many reviews, why review a play twice, once for the call, and the again for ball placement, can’t they do that all in one viewing rather than running all over the field multiple times.  The announcers even said something how long the quarters were taking to be played and that all games are over in 3 hours, unless the game went into over time, no reason a regular game should go more than 3 hours much less 3.5 hours.

11:00: I am tired, I was almost falling asleep during the game, I just need to crash.  I go lay down in my room.  Goodnight world!

Chemo Day #2 + 10

08/16/2012:

12:00: So we are still waiting for this script to time out.  Dr. Scott and my Dad call it quits for the night and head on out.  Jamie and I wait for the script to finish.  I go hook up the printer directly to the frontdesk machine until we can get an ethernet to usb print server to get the printer back up as a network printer again.  Once I install the drivers, the server is back up.  I set its correct IPs on the new card, then start my rounds throughout the whole clinic checking on all the network connections.  I get to the first two, the front desk and realize I don’t have Internet.  I tell Jamie who is now on the server looking at another issue to check the DNS server. Sure enough the DNS server didn’t start up with the server because when the server started up, it didn’t have a network connection so the network services couldn’t all start properly.  Jamie starts up the DNS and I can get the Internet on the front two computers.  I then check their software for the office and it works on the front 2 computers along with the other 4 computers that are currently operational at the office.

1:30: Everything is good to go, we are out of here. Jamie drives from uptown out to Metairie to drop me off and then back to Chalmette he is headed to catch 2 – 3 hours of sleep…

2:00: We arrive home and Jamie takes off.  I find some Mac N Cheese with Broccoli and Chicken in a plate with aluminum foil covering it with my name on it, so I warm it up.  I find my wife taking a bath, and she says she is hungry as well, so I warm up some Mac N Cheese for her as well.  I let Buster out, and then when my wife gets out, we eat.

2:45: I remote into the front desk computers to make sure the printer is ready to go on both of them on a temp account as switching users will cause some confusion right now.

3:15: I start updating my happenings for yesterday/today.

3:35: I am done updating, and now I am going to bed.  I got a doctor’s appointment at 10, so I need to wake up for 9.  Goodnight world!

9:15: My phone alarm wakes me up.

9:30: I am up out of bed, and I let Buster out.

9:35: I sit down and eat a quick sausage with mustard sandwich.

9:40: I jump in the shower.

9:50: I am out the shower.

9:52: My sister is driving me over to Dr. Jacobs for a follow up.

10:05: I jump out the car at the third floor and let my sister go park.

10:10: I check in, and am seated right into room 6.

10:20: Dr. Jacob sees me, feels my neck and says he doesn’t feel anything in my neck. He asks how I am feeling, and I am feeling great, better than the last time I saw him, and I was really nauseated and he had to give me a phenegan shot. So yeah I would say I am doing a lot better. He wants to see me again before my next chemo cycle, so that will be 4 weeks before from now which will be right before cycle 3.

10:35: My appointment is done. I tell Suzanne hi on the way out.

10:40: We are back in the car heading to go get my bloodwork done.

10:45: I get a call from the doctor I was working with last night he has a few questions on the voip phone system and the status of things at his office.

10:52: Off the phone with the doctor, gotta call my wife back who called me while I was on the phone with the doctor.

10:53: I checkin at Quest Diagnostics to get my bloodwork done, just sitting in the waiting room.

11:00: They bring me to the back, but they cannot find my orders in the computer system. They tell me to call the doctors office and check on the orders.

11:05: I am on the phone with the Doctors office, they said they would put the orders right in.

11:10: Back in the waiting room.

11:30: I am shown to the back again. I am in the system this time. She is not having a good day. I tell her I am a hard stick, she doesn’t want to hear it.  I show her where they have stuck me successfully before, she tells me well let me see what I feel for myself because it doesn’t matter where they successfully stuck me before. She sticks my left anticubital area.  She attempts to take my blood. It doesn’t work.  After one stick she wants to give up on my anticubital areas and start poking my hands.  I tell her she is not going to try my hands.  I have had people blow veins in my hands, and I am not having another IV attempted to be started in my hands, no way.  She tells me fine then I am just going to have to someone else there try and stick me.  I had no problem with that.  She must have been having a bad day.  I was put in room 1.  The other nurse comes in and feels my arms, and goes for the favorite spot on my right anticubital area.  I tell her thats where everyone else prefers to go.  She says she feels it good, and preps me.  She sticks me, I don’t even feel the needle go in.  She gets the two vials of blood and pulls the needle out, I didn’t feel a thing!!!  Great stick, great nurse!

12:00: We are walking out of the Quest Diagnostics and back to my sister’s car.

12:05: On our way home.

12:15: We are home.  I start loading up my van with everything that my dad loaded into his CRV last night on the service call.

12:35: I am done loading my van and head over to my office.

12:45: I get to my office, go upstairs unlock my office, I grab my hand truck and make one trip up with everything out of my van.

1:00: I am up in my office and I start working on the computer from last night.  The computer is dead.  The vet needs their dental XRay machine back.  I find another computer in our office with a sata connection that is a Dell.  I take it apart, put the hard drive in, boot it up, activate Windows, install the hardware, put the machine back together.

2:15: Dr. Scott shows up at my office to see the phone system across the hall.  Since he needs a new phone system, he wants to be able to go with a VOIP phone system, more features and save money in the long run on costs.  We go across the hall, I show him the basic functions of the phone.  He makes a few phone calls to test the quality.  This phone system is using the internet connection as the connection to from the router to the pstn for a SIP trunk.  This setup allows up to 20 simultaneous phone calls.  I show him how the voicemail system works and how the intercom system works. I then bring him back over to my office, show him a different way of hooking up the same phone system by the individual analog lines into the router. This way AT&T can be stay around, until we get the new phone system in place, and then we will move the voice lines over to my VOIP Provider, and move the remaining Fax and Credit Card Machine lines over to Cox and drop the extra roll over lines, as the roll over numbers will no longer be needed since the new system will support multiple voice calls on one trunk.

3:00: Dr. Scott leaves. I will get him an estimate later tonight when I get home.

3:10: I go back to putting the finishing touches on the Dental XRay, I then pack it up, lock up my office and bring the computer down to my van.

3:15: I am in my van heading to the Vet’s office.

3:30: I get to the Vet’s office and make the phone call to dell for the warranty tech support on the main Xray machine. I take things apart testing things.  The finally are going to send out a motherboard and power supply with a tech to repair the machine tomorrow.

4:20: I get off the phone with the Dell tech.  Someone should be here tomorrow to repair the machine. I go upstairs and install the machine I brought with me, and get that up and running. I have Dr. Scott come upstairs to test out the Dental Xray, he plugs in the sensor and I need to install one more driver for the Dental XRay sensor. I go back downstairs and start working on the phone system.  I tell Dr. Scott when I see him again that the Dental Xray should be ready to go .  He goes upstairs and tests it, and it works fine. I am now in the process of removing all the phone lines from the phone system, so that the phone system can be removed.  I pull all 5 lines  The fax line I do not do anything with since they never answered it before.  One of the phone lines I cannot dial out on. I get a dial tone but I can’t dial out.  The 4 voice lines I start pulling one by one.

5:45: Jamie shows up to help me punch down the jacks since I shouldn’t be doing too much stuff with wires and punch down.  We get the two phones up front situated off of the old phone system along with line 1 and line 5.  We jump the bad line so it will be busy and roll over which is line 2.  Line 3 is the fax line so we just pull that off and leave that disconnected from the phones. Line 4 we jack to a whip for the temp cordless phones coming in tomorrow. We then clean up all the tools and the area.  We try to figure out how to make the closet neater with all the work that has to be done in it to replace most of the equipment that was destroyed yesterday.

7:00: Jamie and I leave the clinic.

7:20: I arrive home.

7:30: I am on the computer putting together the purchase list for the phone system for a estimate.

7:40: My mom runs off to the store to get some pizza’s to throw in the oven.  They had some fried chicken, but it was out too long for me to take the chance eating.

8:10: My mom gets back with a few things and the pizza.  I throw two pizzas in the oven and the rest into the back freezer.

8:30: The pizzas are ready, and time to eat.

9:00: I am done eating.  I let Buster out, and do a few other things in the house.

10:00: I am tired, but I gotta do some work.  I go in my room, lay in my bed and start putting together the purchase list/estimate.

11:59: Still working on the estimate, but this day is over with, check the continuation tomorrow.

Chemo Day #2 + 9

08/15/2012:

2:00: I finally doze off.

10:30: I wake up.

10:45: I receive an emergency phone call from a client.  Their computer network seems to be dropping and they do not have internet access.

10:55: I jump in the shower.

11:10: I am out of the shower.

11:15: I grab a snack to eat and drink something as well.

11:25: I let Buster outside real quick before leaving.

11:35: I put Buster back in the room with my wife, grab my keys, wallet, and phone, and head on out.

11:50: I arrive at the location.  The computers in the second building are not getting internet and cannot renew their IP address. I got to the main building, I couldn’t renew an IP their either.  I unplugged the wire going to the second building and rebooted the router.  I was then able to get an IP address. I plugged the second building back in and was still able to get an IP address.  I went back to the second building and those computers were all back online.  I made sure that they could receive credit card payments as well since they went through the internet system and they could, problem resolved.

12:35: I leave the location and go over to the SprintPCS store to drop off my Dad’s phone.  It has been dieing and freezing up on him ever since we got it.  I brought it to them once before and they did a factor reset.  My dad couldn’t get his phone on this morning before he left for work.  Trying to do a hard reset pressing the three magic buttons didn’t restart the phone, it is completely frozen.  The only way to reset it is to take off the cover and pull the battery, which is what I did.  They need to look at it again.

12:45: I get to the store, and I am seen right away by a rep.  He tells me that they will see if they can get the defect to happen, they will also possibly do a factor reset on the phone.  If they need to give me a new phone, they will for $35, if they can’t find anything wrong with it, then they will send me back home with the phone, and then when it happens again bring it again for a possible new phone at that time.

1:00: I leave the Sprint store and now headed back to the office.

1:05: I stop at McDonalds, horrible service as usual, but cheap food.

1:15: I leave McDonalds, heading back to my office.

1:25: I get back to my office.  I sit at my computer and start some research and some programming here and there.

3:25: I call Sprint to check on the phone, it is ready.  Supposedly it was an app that was incompatible.

3:40: I arrive at Sprint and picked up the phone and showed a tech that the app was also on my phone so it wasn’t the app, but if it acts up again I will be sure to bring it right back!

3:55: I get back to my office.

4:00: I am backing up everything off of my Dad’s phone, and I transfer all of his contacts from the phone phonebook to Google’s Contact List, so it is synced with Google.  This way all contacts that are added are kept online with Google and if I do have to get the phone replaced, I can just get the phone contact list downloaded from google.

4:35: Back to some real office work…

4:45: I call up a client who had called earlier with a problem sending email.  When I called him back, his power was out, so I could not check on his issue directly, but I emailed him the email address he was trying to send to so that he could check it himself.

5:24: Dr. Scott calls me up with an big emergency issue.  Lightning struck near his office and the entire computer system is down.  We do some brief troubleshooting on the phone, but we do not get anywhere.

5:45: I gather some equipment from my office to bring down in case I need to change out equipment.

6:00: I get home, because my dad is going to drive me uptown.

6:15: We leave the house.

6:30: We get there. I start examining the issue.  The issue is bigger than I originally thought.  The cable modem is fried, the network switch is fried, the network port on 5 computers is fried including the server, 3 computers are fried, 2 monitors are fried, the network port on the printer is fried, their phone system is fried, the thermostats settings for the A/C’s have been wiped out, and a circuit breaker in the building is tripped, all as a result of a lightning strike that either hit really close by, or hit the building itself.  I need to get parts to fix this chaos.  We go to Office Depot.  They tell us that they stopped carrying network cards. We go to Best Buy, they too tell us that they stopped carrying network cards.  I pick up a cablem modem that I see while I am there, but this is the reason I order everything from dealers, but I don’t have the time to wait and overnight at this time is 2 days.  I go home and pick up 6 network cards that I have stored away.  I then go to the office and pick up 2 monitors that I happen to have in stock.  I then go back to the doctor’s office.  I try to put a network card in the server, and the server does not take PCI network cards, just PCIE, by this time it is too late to go anywhere because it is almost 9:00.  I call up my business partner.  He has a usb to ethernet port that he has, but no pcie cards, so I tell him to bring it, and we’ll try it.  In the mean time I go around to all the computers in the office checking their network activity an adding cards into the computers that have fried network ports to get all the computers back talking on the network, but without the server, none of them can get an IP, talk to the server, surf the web, or do anything at all.  Jamie arrives, we put the USB port in, it wants drivers, we download drivers burn a CD, but the drivers won’t work on Server 2008.  Jamie leaves and goes to another office to check to see if he can find any in all of the parts there.  I do some calling around, but no one has the network cards in stock because it is not a big item anymore with all the on board network cards.  I finally call up my buddies who I have been friends with forever who also do computer work, and it just so happens that he has 2 in stock.  He shouldn’t have them, but he has them.  I call Jamie up and tell him to head over to their office.  He gets there and I missed the text message that its in the mailbox, we call him back up, waking him up again like fools because I missed the text message.  The Chemo Brain is starting to come in, lol.  Anyways Jamie is heading back to the office 🙂  Jamie gets back to the office, we put the card in the server, boot it up, and the network lights come on.  Great.  We now just have to wait for a script to time out. And now its midnight, so this will continue on the next days events 😛

Chemo Day #2 + 8

08/14/2012:

3:00: I finally start to doze off.  I can’t fall asleep for some reason lately.  Thinking too much about everything…

8:30: I wake up to a client’s phone call with a phone system issue.  I log in remotely and reboot the switch and router.  I then make a configuration change in the switch and reboot the switch again, and the phones come back online.

9:00: I am still tired so I go back to bed.

10:00: My wife gets up to go to work.

10:45: I really fall back asleep.

12:30: I am awake.  My dad calls me shortly after to tell me about the 3D Printer wave of the future he hears about on WWL Radio.  3D Printers that make parts for Jay Leno’s old cars that cannot be purchased anymore, and also 3D printers that can make body parts, human organs, etc.  Pretty interesting, if you need a liver transplant, why not make a new liver based on your blood, dna, and genes, it would get rid of the rejection factor for transplants.  Interesting stuff.  I will have to research this some more when I have some time.

1:00: I eat a bowl of Peanut Butter Cheerios.  Good Stuff.

1:30: I am back on my computer checking email and a few things before I go jump in the shower and head to work for 4 hours.

2:00: I jump into the shower.

2:15: I am out of the shower.

2:20: I am on my way to the office.

2:30: I get to the office.

2:35: I unlock the front door, get the mail, and then lock the front door again.  I am not seeing any clients at this time because of the chance of catching something from closer direct contact.  I go into the back door and sit down at my chair and answer an email and close out some work orders.

2:50: I walk the 2 blocks to Iberia Bank down the street for my exercise.  It is about to storm.

3:00: The teller sees me after I wait 5 minutes in the lobby for a guy withdrawing a large amount of cash. After making the deposit, I turn around and walk back to my office.

3:05: I get back to my office, and chat a little with a good friend that I have known since I was 5 years old, went to school from K through College with him, who is also in the computer business, we throw work back and forth, and help each other out all the time.

Chemo Day #2 + 7

08/13/2012:

10:00: I wake up, and just lay in bed for a little while.

10:15: I get out of bed and let Buster out.

10:25: I get my tools and head into the attic before it gets too hot up there.  It is pretty warm upstairs and the sweat machine turns on as soon as I get to the top of the ladder.  I’ll only be up here for 20 minutes at the most, so what the heck.

10:30: I get to the spot in the attic where I gotta work.  I take apart the phone wires that are wire nutted together as a temporary fix to I could get a telephone punch block, which I now have.  I punch down the line that was originally in the attic that I spliced first.  I then add a line that was going to 2 bedrooms that I had ran about a two years ago when redoing the bedrooms in the house and adding telephone and network cabling to the rooms.  I then add the 4th wire to the punch block which is the wire going to the front living room where the 3 computers and printer are, and now the new MFC which includes a fax machine.  I had run a telephone wire to the wall jack, but didn’t have the punch block to punch it down when I originally ran it so I left the cable in the attic.  I punched down the pair needed to run the telephone analog signal to the fax machine, put on the clips to connect to four clips on the punch block and then put it down.  I grabbed my tools, and it was time to get out of the attic, as now I was starting to drip sweat.  Before getting up, I noticed my arms and legs starting to go uneasy and shaking.  I knew I had reached my time limit up in the attic and now was the time to get out as my body couldn’t take it any more and I could see I was starting to over heat.

10:48: I am out of the attic.

10:50: I test faxing something to my office and it works with no issues.  Fax telephone jack activated 🙂

11:00: I am exhausted and a little hungry. I warm up some left over pork fried rice and eat that.

11:20: I lay in the Lazy-Boy and watch Pawn Stars and fall asleep for a little bit longer.

12:30: I am awaken by my mom calling the house checking on everything.

1:00: I get on my computer check my emails and create and send out invoices that I have for clients.

1:40: I take a shower and get ready to head to the office.

1:45: The thunder starts up and Buster hates the thunder, I put on his Thunder Blanket/Jacket and stay around a little longer for him to calm down.

2:15: It’s quiet outside again, I put Buster in his cage, and head on out.

2:30: I get into my office and check the mail.  I put in payments in to the system.

2:50: I am walking to the bank 2 blocks away.  I need my exercise, may as well walk.

2:54: I make the check deposit at the bank.

3:00: I get back to the office.  A little tired, but all is good, nice and cool here in the office.

3:10: Back to checking emails and doing some client work, some web related work.

6:00: Done at the office for the day.  Time to head on home.

6:15: I get home and I see the food is ready.

6:20: I get a bowl of red beans and rice and help myself to seconds.  MMM, good stuff.  I even add some Hot Sauce to it, to flavor it up some.

7:00: Supper was good, now back in the Lazy-Boy.  A little tired, but I turn on Pawn Stars on the History Channel

10:50: Still watching the history channel, about to go to bed, I am just tired…

6:00: I go outside and throw the ball to Buster a few times.

8:00: I wake up, let Buster out, and then back to bed, for some more sleep.

11:00: I wake up to my dad tapping on the door.  He made pancakes this morning, so I get up and eat.  Very good, YUMMY!

1:00: I doze off again on the sofa, just tired today.

2:15: I wake up, help my mom with something on the computer, and then get ready to watch the USA Women in the Gold Medal Basketball Game.

3:00: I warm up the left over mozzarella sticks and some tomato sauce, and eat this while watching the game.

3:40: Halftime.  Buster wants to go outside, and so I let him out, and he grabs his ball.  I go outside and throw the ball to him a few times.  I also start the water siphon again from the garbage can we used to collect water from the rain run off from the patio using the hose going from the can to the pond.

3:50: I come inside, give Buster a treat and get on my mini laptop in the Den, while sitting in the Lazy-Boy watching the game coming back on after half time, here on the blog updating the world once again 🙂

4:45: The USA Women Basketball Team have won the Olympic Gold.

5:00: My parents come back home from mass with Chinese food.  Mmm, good! YUMMY.  We watch myth busters proving that the Lunar landings where real and that the conspiracy theorist are wrong.  Interesting episode.

6:00: A special on the Mars Rover Curiosity landing is on the Discovery Channel.  They go through the whole mission of launching it to whole process of its landing.  Very Interesting.

7:00: Another Myth Busters.

8:00: A Classic!  Men In Black II.  Great movie and just never gets old for me.

9:00: My wife wakes up after napping after work.  I eat a small portion of Chinese food with her.

10:00: I get a shower.

10:30: Just trying to find something my dad put on my desk, I can’t find it, I’ll look for it again tomorrow.

Chemo Day #2 + 4

08/10/2012:

10:15: I wake up and get out of bed.

10:20: I let Buster outside.

10:30: I am on my computer taking care of tuition for my wife.

11:45: I am putting together a Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, and Profit and Loss Statement for my CPA.  She just wants to compare the numbers I gave her in February to the numbers I have now to make sure I did not make any changes to the books for 2011 since I gave her the numbers for 2011.

12:00: I eat some Peanut Butter Cheerios 🙂

1:00: I go outside and play fetch with Buster, throwing the ball, and having him go get it and bring it back, while I help my sister look for some paints on the back patio.

1:30: I come back inside and start doing some admin work.

2:00: A client calls me, they are switching from AT&T to Cox for their phone, internet, and TV service for their business!  I support this 100%.  They just had some questions about changing the settings on the router to support the new service.  We did a few changes, and could not get online, so I had them set the IP to Automatic-DHCP for now.  I called up Cox, and after some troubleshooting with the client and Cox, we decided to leave it on DHCP and will get a new Static IP set once the issue is figured out.

3:00: I talk to my wife who came home while I was on the phone, and eat some hush puppies that she brought home from work 🙂 FOOD IS GOOD!

3:30: Catching up on Admin work and Billing.

3:37: I get a call from a potential client about a hard drive/computer issue.  I will troubleshoot the issue more when the client calls me back, but if it requires onsite support, I am seeing if Jamie can go take care of the call.

3:50: Updating ya’ll…

4:00: My dad gets home, and he relaxes and then sits at the computer next to mine in the living room. We talk some.

4:10: My mom is running errands after work. She is also picking up some ribs, jalapeno poppers, mozzarella sticks, and some sweet potato fries. Hey, its my choice so leave me alone… I wanted fried catfish that my dad makes just right, with just the right amount of spice. However after doing some research online, I have discovered that fish oils can interfere with the effectiveness of the Chemo drugs. So no fried fish for me, so other fried stuff will have to take its place.

4:30: I setup the new printer that was delivered yesterday. Wireless printing and scanning, small footprint, and also a laser printer. It will also put itself to sleep after 3 minutes and save electricity. We have an old HP Laser printer that works well with no issues, but it pulls electricity all the time. Also our scanner is starting to fail, and it would be nice to fax things from the house too. So this all in one brother multi function center will do the trick.

5:00: The printer is all setup. I install the drivers on all the computers in the house and show my dad how to scan.

5:45: My mom gets home with the groceries and food. I go outside and help her unload with my dad.

6:00: The cooking begins.

6:15: The first batch of jalapeno poppers come out. Yummy, but very hot. My wife burns her lip biting into one.

7:15: I am stuffed from eating the ribs, poppers, sticks, and fries.

7:30: I am in the lazyboy watching tv.

8:00: I start working on my sister’s Mac. I remove the extra printers she has and install the new printer. I don’t have her password to the computer and text her for it. I doze off waiting for her reply.

8:30: I am awaken by her reply and install the printer drivers on her laptop and then install the printer. I then install all outstanding updates on her laptop, including office and a few other important applications.

9:15: I am done updating her computer and back to just watching TV.

9:30: I can’t forget about my fans out there, so here I am updating yall on my happenings. Catch yall again in a little bit.

10:00: My dad and I watch gator boys.  Alligator wrestling, hunting, and removal.  Interesting show.

11:50: I am off to lay in bed and fall asleep watching TV.

Chemo Day #2 + 3

08/09/2012:

12:35: I finish up removing unneeded programs with the computer that I was cleaning.  I just need to run a final clean and scanning program to finish the clean process.

2:00: The scanning process finishes and I am done with that computer.

3:00: I am up out of bed, feeling a little nauseated.

3:30: I take a nausea pill which should also knock me out for a little bit.

6:00: My wife gets up and gets ready for work.  She throws the sheet over my face before turning on the light.  Good thought, just the extra light will aggravate me at this point.  Starting to feel a little nauseated again.

7:30: I get up and take another nausea pill.  I know this one will knock me out again, so I let Buster out and back in and then back to bed I go.

11:15: My wife wakes me up with a phone call, she is just checking on me.  However, that is it, I am up.  I let Buster out again.

11:30: I am back on my desktop computer at the house.  Just some admin work and emails.  I am feeling a little nauseated, but I don’t want to take a pill just yet, but I think I will not before too long.

12:20: Just sitting here updated the world on my day so far.

12:30: Back to some programming.

1:30: I am hungry, I havn’t eaten anything yet all day.  My sister warmed up hot dogs earlier, and I am in the mood for hot dogs.  I warm up the remaining 4 hot dogs out of the pack and put each on a slice of wheat bread along with some ketchup and mustard.  Very tasty and filling.

2:00: My wife calls me letting me know she is on her way home.

2:15: I get a call from a delivery driver, trying to deliver a package, however she is on the wrong street, these streets get mixed up all the time, and I have to give her directions to the right street.

2:25: The delivery driver delivers the new printer that I ordered yesterday.

2:30: My wife and I go over to my office to check on the mail, and gather checks to deposit.

2:40: We get to the office.  She goes next door and picks up 2 packages that were delivered, while I unlock the doors to my office.  She then comes up to the front door and picks up all the mail off of the floor, and then I lock the front door and into the back door we go.

2:50: I sort through the mail. Pick out the payment checks, put them into the computer system, and prepare a deposit slip.  I also print payroll while I am in the office since it is supposed to be run today.

3:10: We leave the office and go to the bank to deposit the checks gathered today.

3:15: Through the drive through at the bank.

3:30: We arrive at home, with my dad pulling in right behind us.

3:45: I am back on my computer.

4:00: I get a phone call from a client to install a printer on their laptop.  However, I am having an issue with my phone system, so I start troubleshooting that.

4:30: I resolve the phone system issue and call back the client to install the printer.   The printer would not install properly, so I completely removed the installation that the client had tried and completely reinstalled from scratch.

6:00: I finally resolved the printer issue after a complete printer software removal and reinstall.

6:15: I eat some turkey gumbo that my mom had made.  YUMMY!  Good stuff too!

6:30: The Saints game is on, they are playing the New England Patriots.

9:00: I eat a hot dog on wheat with some ketchup and mustard.

9:30: The Saints game is over.  They lost, oh well, it’s preseason, still testing out guys in their positions.

10:00: I attempt to help my wife pay for her tuition to Delgado and when we log in to pay, we discover they do not take VISA.  Who doesn’t take VISA?  Blah, oh well, will have to work out something for tomorrow.

10:50: My wife goes off to visit a friend.

11:00: I am in bed, relaxing…
